I hear you, I have G2s and I have to say that the innovation behind the heads helps their sound so much, they have that light oil in between the layers that cuts out reverberation and makes them sound sick!

I won't say anything bad about the heads - they're OK...for me, there is a limit to how much heads can make a difference...the total tone quality/dynamics involves heads and shells - plus whether the drum is double-headed, how tight the heads are, etc...
