  • @JamonjiCahillibongo did not khnow that....makes sence

  • @happybill636 trained on the Drums before he picked up the bass.

  • The 80s were a bit rubbish. Fine bass playing though, and actually the guitar playing aint bad either.

  • love the brief, restrained guitar solo; very classy playing!

  • This is my favorite Level 42 performance I've seen on YouTube. The orchestra just makes it soooo much better. These guys were my favorite through the eighties and ninties.

  • A fantastic music group. So talent

  • So good, and it´s realy hard to play this slapin bass adn singing man!

  • GERARDÃO..AMIGO DO GLAUCO...SEMPRE NA SURDINA!!!

  • I love your song Level 42 !

  • OMFG...mark king is so awesome

he chews gum and sings at the same time....hahahaha

  • @AMBASSODOR hahahha. he looks like he's doing sign language.

  • LEVEL 42. mark put them out their with his guitar, and his voice and he can sing, with out all the hi tech stuff they use, but he is the same in video and in live, nothing more suave then a persona that knows how it is done. AWSOME<!!!!

  • AMAZING !!! I love it so much

  • one of the top hundred for ever...

    Happy New Year 2010年新年快樂

  • Love this vid cant watch it enough happy new year all

    Bill

  • I don't know how Mark King can sing like that while simultaneously playing awesome slap bass. Even playing extremely easy bass lines and singing is very difficult for me. Either my singing or bass playing has to suffer because of it. I can't do both.

  • BTW what is Mark King chewing in this video? His tongue? The side of his mouth maybe?

  • he always do that ... lol so he can sing , play bass, and chew a gum , amazing , eh?

  • @awefhiwefiuwafiuhai +1, he's a great bass player.

  • @awefhiwefiuwafiuhai haha! I can sing and play slap at the time, but it's taken me three years to get myself up to the standard where I can play Level 42 songs.

  • @awefhiwefiuwafiuhai And he's eatin' some chewing gum whist singin' & slappin', hahahah!

  • @awefhiwefiuwafiuhai i have th4e same problem...i cant even answer a simple question while playin bass...or i lose timing....but theres many bassiest like this...les claypool and geddy lee to name a couple

  • @awefhiwefiuwafiuhai the question is: how can he mantain that rithym for almost 5 minuts !! everytime i try ... i end up hitting my forehead with my thumb !!!

  • @Dykom1 TRACE ELLIOT 1200 DOES ALOT OF THE HEAVY LIFTING

  • @awefhiwefiuwafiuhai YES ITS VERY HARD TO DO BOTH! I Know a few musicians gave up on or the other cause its so hard!

  • @awefhiwefiuwafiuhai

Practice practice practice. Keep working at it you will get it. I think the bassline becomes the secondary and the constant. You know what the note will sound like when you fret the string that will always be the same. So get the bassline down and then your not thinking about your finger work on the neck you just have to sing the song., It has worked for me!

  • @awefhiwefiuwafiuhai keep practicing =)

  • This song is a poem for the soul.

    I love it.

  • @elpanuchoveloz

    True, True.

  • Was that George MaRtin in the beginning of the video?

  • aye

  • Just great!!!

  • Gary and Alan...great musicians, but the real Level 42 always was and always will be Phil, Boon, Mike and Mark! The Gould brothers are just in a completely different class. Level 42 is now no more than a tribute band!

  • @ skyman1971, yep, true. The Gould Brothers really are a class of their own. Peace

  • The guitarist played very well and the solo sounds just like it should. unbelieveble knowing he was allready very sick because of aids he died not long after the condert

  • Gary Husband is a great drummer, he's sort of gotten a bad rap by L42 fans.

  • "...because they're so good."

    Says it all really.

  • please dont delete this video.

  • A great time in my life when this song came out. I used to work in a clothing store in The garment district of Los Angeles (The Alley)

  • Mark King is really a King on both bass and vocals - and on cool stage performance.

  • io potrei essere nato grazie a loro....:)

  • bellissima canzone ...fortissimi i level 42....erano i nostri anni.....80

  • grazie a te....mi fa piacere che ci sono tanti nostalgici dei nostri anni 80.....i migliori in tutti i sensi!!!!! ciao.

  • Great sing and i love the fact that they sound just as good Live as they do on there records

  • It is interesting to see: John Thirkell from the horn section was a tour member on the Guaranteed-tour in 1991.

Alan Murphy died in the same year (1989), R.I.P!

Gary Husbands second year as Level 42's drummer.

Level 42, like every time, great live performance. They're the best !!!

    Die Jungs kennen ihr Geschäft...

  • Good Live !

  • Mark King's hammer on technique is legendary! love the bass line so much

  • Are you referring to the slapping? Hammer-on is a different technique.

  • Thanks for the comment Stapler78. Hammer on is what Mark King is doing with his left hand along the frets while he indeed uses slap like a percussive background with his right hand.

Whilst both are present I was referring to Marks legendary Hammer on technique there.

  • Ah ok, I see. Thanks!

  • Mark King Rulez

  • Mark King...wow!

  • simply class !!!

  • This is awesome. Would be a 10/10 if only the twat on keyboards hadn't decided he needed to make a cameo appearance.

    Still great though.
