If you do the Math, Shania sells an average of 18Million per album while Mariah's average is 15Million, which includes her Glitter album. So if you take Glitter out of the equation, this would greatly increase her average, which would disprove your claim. Shania just wasn't prominent enough to experience a breakdown.

Mariah's vocals, whether in prime or not, are superior, she writes her OWN lyrics(and infact has written for Shania aswell :-P), and Mariah's success triumps hers.
