  • "How far they've 'CUM'"!!!

  • what a dumb fuck, you have a quad wire, a old ass fucking vdsl splitter, goahead and call in you will easy get hit with $110 charge idiot!! plus why the fuck are you going in the NID, you fuck it all up asshole

  • im actually going to be be working for att uverse customer sevice

  • lol, thats not cat3 but who cares.

  • enoughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh damn

  • this video is worthless

  • I like your studly chest hair.

  • If you hvae A new uverse install, Make sure the tech is not secretly Billing you. At&t pushes techs to move finish a job under a certain time. That time shrinks so they can push more installs. that means bonus money to sales managers. When techs bill, they get time added to jobs. So managers allow this because Techs that work fast, make good Efficiency numbers for them as amanagers. They will knowingly let techs bill for what is supposed to be FREE installations.

  • Comcast Ftw

  • so they just need to be copper pairs and not fiber optics right?? i currently have dsl its the worst stuff ive ever used pay for 1.5mbps only get 300kbps. so no fiber optics needed?

  • @aspiller98 if you pay for 1.5 and only get .3 then you either have too many splices in the house or you have bad lines.

  • (Long)I moved to an apartment that had very old wiring. My U-Verse gateway was always going off about every 6 hours or so. When it did, nothing worked phone, tv, nor internet. The thing was down for several minutes until it came back on. Once it wouldn't come back on so I called AT&T and they told us they would send some guys come check it out. They came to my place and told us it was the wiring... they fixed it FOR FREE (whoa!) and now my gateway runs without interruptions! I really liked that

  • @darkstar744 its typically free for repairs leading up to the gateway, anything after that youre most likely getting billed. technically the tech should have never used the old wiring and ran a new line to the gateway in the first place, and you would have avoided the headache altogether :)

  • actually, they make cat# wiring in quad colors. quad is a misnomer causing confusion with the coloring assignments. and cat 3 doesnt mean 3 twists per inch "buddy", it means it was the 3rd category style of wiring used for token ring networks with the 1st internet servers. cat 5 wiring has about 6 twists per 5 centimeters. the cat# has nothing to do w/the # of twists per length

  • so much stuff to do just to watch dumb Internet videos and dumb tv shows, i rather listen to radio

  • When AT&T Uverse was installed at my house, the technician installed the last end of the wire on my water faucet to grind the static.

  • Yeah whoever told you that was cat3 cable screwed you...

  • that is what is also known as jamaican wire, as well as quad wire. not even close to cat3.

  • U gunna get sued brochacho

  • There are plenty of situations where the Y/B pair is utilized for phone / DSL service. What you should've said was "normally not used."

  • UVerse just doesn't work

  • @AmtrakBill for you

  • the box from ouside of the house its also called ..nid .... yes it is cat 3

  • This looks like yet another piss poor installation by a mediocre uverse technician, but hey what can you possibly expect from a guy making 10-15 dollars an hour with a top pay of 19 per hour.

  • AT&T Uverse is the most unreliable service that currently exists....I unfortunately work for them and have the undesirable job of installing this piss poor product at poor, unsuspecting customer's houses. PREMISE TECHNICIAN is a mediocre job, with mediocre pay, mediocre benefits, and mediocre vacation. Out of all the installs that are conducted in the area I work in, at least 60% have revisits to fix problems that usually occur on the outside lines. It's absolutely ridiculous.

  • Very informative. Thanks for posting.

  • The wire you should be using is Category 5e, (enhanced), 350MHz rated cable, and if the customer has a basement I personally suggests CAT 5 e STP (shielded), and UV rated, and a proper RF drain termination, due to the fact Joe customer loves florescent lights and the new energy saving light bulbs, EMI! So there you have it straight from a 22 year Telecom tech. No home run issues and keep the radius bends down people the rule is 4 X's the wire dia in the bend radius. No metal staples also!

  • @James1toknow "the rule is 4 X's the wire dia in the bend radius" Four times the wire diameter in the bend radius? I don't understand what that means. Can you give an example?

  • @spkrcity Ok your wire is lets say, 1/4" wide, now just multiple it by 4 and that figure 1" per foot is your max bend Radius this applies to just about all copper and tin cable, NOT fiber. My rule of thumb is never kink the wire or over reaf on tie wraps nor sharp angels. nice easy bends and you will be OK. I hope this helped, dress them down nicely.

  • Dude i install Uverse for AT&T that is definitely not CAT3 i dont care what you say and im not trying to be mean but it isnt CAT3 its Quad wire someone lied to you trust me!!!

  • Dude - just get on with it and stop being so damn verbose.

  • wait.. cat 3 is rated to only get up to 10mbps. Uverse goes at 32mbps. Do you only use 1 tv? you should change out that wire to cat 6

  • Wanna Button Up Your Shirt?

  • Uverse techs will run new lines. there is no need for homeowner to run lines. Cat 5 is the best to run to the rg by the way. your installer should have know that and ran a cat 5 anyway. oh just be glad the installer did it right and the box aka the nid was not energized or you would have had a very bad day when u touched anything in the nid.

  • @driser3377 he is got nothing better to do hehe, go get a job, leave the uverse to att techs, they will bring everything they need for the job. You dont need anything extra. I really hate these kind of people, who think they know some shit, and they want to get into everything, but would just be in a way, when coming to installation and getting them setup for the service. These are pathetic losers, who think they gonna educate someone but actually got all their information from the tech lol

  • @Soldier00 I cannot count the number of times that I've fixed a technician's shoddy installation job. This also goes for the times when I saved the technician from calling for "back up." Don't be a d-bag.

  • @driser3377 Correct, we will install the proper wiring needed to have a good running service (if you get a good Uverse tech that is). But, only the home run (from the NID to the RG) is free. Any other line will cost atleast $55. My advice, have either cat-5e (preferred) or RG6 (does not need to be quad shield) to every room you want a receiver.

  • if you get the max turbo 24 megs are you getting the full 24 megs.

  • @SONIC2620081981 no maybey 19

  • hey thats station wire not cat 3. cat 3 would have blue/white orange/whit green/white and brown/white, and it would be twisted also yours is not. do you even know the what is different between cat5 and cat3?

  • @brendon81886 Actually, cat 3 does not always have the 4th pair (brown/white). And the difference is the amount of twists per inch. Cat3 has 3 twists per inch, Cat5 has 5 twists per inch.

  • I think this was an interesting video. If you move this helps the non-tech understand. in this video Part1 and Part 2... But you guys responding need to go somewhere else with the remarks below...

  • Another suck install by AT&T. no cat 5 and using a balun with no POTS line hahaha. cut the cornners AT&T. MMP practic says if you can get a cat 5 in that the tech MUST install it. But with Multible dweling units ie apartments you can't and the service is limited.

  • Jamaican wire

  • grn - tip, red - ring. count as 1 pair.

Each phone line requires 1, ONE, pair.

Loop qualification depends on the rotation of the earth relative to the Sun, and when the next planets alighnment is.

    HA!

Seriously, attenuation, length, and port (ADSL2+ at least) makes the call whether you qualified or not.

U-verse will work on 3 conductor.

    muwahaha

  • thanks alot for the video - very useful -getting uverse next week. I ran brand new cat 5e, cat 3, and RG-6quad from where the modem/router will be to the outside of the house. Installer can take his pick!

    cheers

  • ur a victim of lazy tech. use cat 5e its better than coax. also use a number 2 trimmer on ur nasy chest hair, and ur hair-DEW is a hair DON'T. get a new dew

  • shut the fuck up he's trying to help.

  • that is E-wire only good for 2000 ft or less

  • That wiring in your box is not cat3 its not even close. It is quad wiring and shouldnt be used to feed uverse signal.

  • @kmk7110, it looks like quad wire at first glance, but there is, in fact, CAT3 line that has red/green and black/yellow colored pairs, while the cable itself has the color code of quad wire, it has the twists of CAT3, therefore it counts as CAT3 cable (I have seen quad color coded CAT3 myself once, it exists)

The category number is based on how many twists it has per pair, the more twists, the higher the category number, color has nothing to do with it

  • @mikedamirault Well your somewhat right but as a 21 year vet in telecom it's like this. Quad wire is Green /Red and Black /Yellow in that order and Tip / Ring respectfully, this only matters with polarity when it counts. Now if you have found cat 3 as G/R B/Y then the manufacture messed up because Cat 3 is 3 twists fer inch and Cat 5 is 5 twists per inch. All quad wiring G/R B/Y has no twists, But I have found people to use alarm wiring that had G/R B/Y STRANDED in place of Stnd telecom wire.

  • @kmk7110 Yes it is CAT3...CAT is what grade cable it is....not how many strands are in the bundle. And when the jacket says CAT3...it's pretty certainly CAT3.

  • @WhateverUnique That's quad wire, not cat3. Whoever told you otherwise was an idiot.

  • @WhateverUnique Cat It's quad wire. CAT is not a grade its the number of twists per inch of wire. CAT 5 has 5 twists per inch cat 6 6 per inch.

  • @Jono1319 and cat 3 like he says is being ran to his house, actually got 4 wires hehehe

  • @WhateverUnique actually if there is no twist it isn't even "Cat" rated Cat3 means 3 twists per inch but nice try buddy

  • @gonphisting I could take a picture of the cable so you can read the words if that will help you.

  • @WhateverUnique i can right ferrari on my jeep, doest that make it a ferrari?

  • @WhateverUnique i'm an at&t tech, i see cat3 that looks like this all the time. i think they think its not because they cant see an apparent twist or most cat3 pairs are not the typical red/green-yellow/black like quad lines (most companies use blue/white, orange/white for 2-pair cat3/5 lines). in any event, its not something you could tell for sure unless you actually have in front of you, if you say it says cat3 on the sheath then it is lol.

  • Cat5 > Coax > Current telephone wiring

CAT 5 is the best to use in the house.

IMO my house has RG6 coax so they used that. And it works very well.
