this is actually a Famicom game.. it never seen the american NES.. I just played it for the first time a few months ago when I modified my NES emulater to be able to play famicom games.. I wish I had this as a kid
@patman0322 oh ok, so this verision doesn't have the split screen for 2 player head to head racing right? I think I downloaded this version for a MAME emulator, but I deleted it because I was looking for the famicom version.
@Dame1999 Correct. Even though it was a Vs. Unisystem game, it was single player only - no head to head mode or even an alternating turns 2 player mode like most arcade games at the time had.
what cheat code did you use to turn into bubba stewart?? he wasn't even born when this game was made... and why does your controller sound like you are putting a transformer together???
@Dame1999 No cheat code, just a sequence of actions to turn into the black/yellow bike - we called it "the excitebike" at the arcade. It's a pretty simple trick which you should be able to pick up from watching the video, or, reading the other comments.
The reason it's so noisy is because it's an arcade machine and the joysticks and buttons are make a lot of noise when you're hammering them. You don't notice it so much when you're playing them but when you record it, it really stands out.
@patman0322 I think the yellow/black bike trick is arcade/mame only cause I tried taking out like 20 other riders in the famicom game and it never worked... that is what you have to do right? cause the cpu riders to crash?
@Every1LuvzaPlayer If memory serves me correctly you have to knock down 5 bikers in a row without you yourself wrecking. Doing that got you the "Exitebike" which let you use your turbo nonstop without overheating.
The original cabinets were just standard Nintendo Vs. cabinets - I think there were stickers on the bezels with instructions but that was about it for Excitebike specific artwork. I've got a marquee but it's the wrong size for my cab.
It's mine. It's really a Mario Bros. (converted DK Jr.) cab but I can play Vs. Excitebike in it with an wiring adapter and swapping out the control panel.
the only way i know about this game is becuz of animal crossing for the gamecube.

@Dame1999 The Famicon game was the original. This is the arcade version for Nintendo's Vs. Unisystem series of arcade machines.

@Dame1999 Yeah, that trick only works on the arcade version - it's not in the Famicon/NES version or the Playchoice 10 version.

At 2:05 or so, I liked the music, because it sounded like a many version of "Heart and Soul."

@pro13245 No, you don't suck. I'm 37, and played this when I was 10-12 or so, and I admit, it's a pretty tricky game!

I love the music before Excitebike Tracks. We honored our teacher: Mr. Sandy is really really dandy, why he is so dandy, we call him great.

How do you get the secret reward for knocking down the other bikers? How many do you need to knock down?

@Every1LuvzaPlayer Watch the Track 1 race and you'll see it.

@Every1LuvzaPlayer So this game gave you extrea points for tripping the other bikers. In real life, that would mean disqualification!
