I added oil, that was the only maintence required. Ninja 250s typically use a bit of oil during a long trip. After the trip I had to replace the cam chain tensioner.y
Jim, you have done an excellent job of documenting your trip. I just got a Niinja 250 and want to do an SS1000 with it. I completed a SS1000 on my 650 V-Star, which has a mustang seat on it in June 2008. I think the Ninja will be more of a challange and get better gas mileage. I plan on upgrades like you have done, what windshield do you have?
Again my brother from a past life, the longest ride I have done ( so far ) is around 180 miles with some friends at work.
I plan ( <---- Key word here ) to go to Deals Gap / Tail of The Dragon in August. It's 219 miles from my home and then riding the gap. Should be interesting.
the Ninja's had a molded seat base that was never comfortable, I think switching out the seat pan is a pretty standard upgrade on those bikes. Yours may be a later model than the ones I've seen, but the had quite non-ergo shape just under the padding.
The AMS gel seatpad was essential to this trip. I can go about 200 miles on the stock seat before it gets painful, and I'm screaming and crying at 300miles on the stock seat.
A custom seat would be the way to go, but since I paid so little for the bike itself it didn't seem right to spend a significant portion of the purchase price for a seat mod.

Do you stop for regular bike maintenance, like an oil change, during the challenge?

Awesome, i'd love to do this kind of thing one day.

@jakesterdude - Don't over think it. Get on bike, twist throttle. Stop 23 1/2 hours latter. Nothing to it! ;)
Thanks for watching.

Certainly your Bergman is more than capable of trips of any length.
