Elizabeth Taylor's performance here is a work of heart. It's genius. Right up there with Charlize Theron in Monster, Jodie Foster in Silence of the Lambs and Meryl Streep in Sophie's Choice as my favorites.
I know! Elizabeth was a truly underrated actress, while Kat being what she was as the most overrated actress of all time. Did Hepburn really deserve FOUR Oscar's? C'mon! She only deserved one of them for Lion in Winter.
Basically this 'child' was the ultimate weapon George could use against his wife. He used their guests of course, who he never calls by their names, and all these 'games' build up to the final one- 'Bringing up Baby'
Katherine run the gamut of emotions from A to B. I never liked Katherine. She was feisty but she acted the same way on camera. If you say that Liz will never be like Bette Davis that would be no contest. Bette Davis is the best.
Have you ever seen Hepburn in "The Lion in Winter"? If you can come away not appreciating that performance or failing to recognize the ability in it, then you really do not like her. Taylor always played fiesty too. And Bette as well. Hmmm, "fiesty" is just an easy discriptor...
Are you kidding me? I heard she was a FORCE OF NATURE in that movie. I'm going to order it and watch it. Critics held it as one of the greatest movie performances of all time. Yes, Kate is still my actress. And so is Bette.
Hepburn as Martha? Wow. David as Martha? Wow. How about Ingrid Bergman as Martha? Or Vivian Leigh? This role was perfect for Taylor, and she nails it. I can't take my eyes off her.
Yeah, yeah. It was a horrible realisation that I barely understood when watching it for the first time as a kid. Marthas worship of a boy that only existed in conversations. Not in life, was very scary to me.

I think, The boy never existed. They made him up to deal with their issues, and the fact they were not able to have kids

I couldn't agree more. Some of the best acting ever, and makes you think about how films today do not even come close to this masterpiece.

It was the real, fiery passion that existed between these two (and of course the writing) that made this movie so riveting

Now I agree with that!!! Bette has way more range than any actress out there then and now.

May she rest in peace. I also like Marlon Brando a lot right now. He is very inspiring.

What a stupid statement. Liz WAS marvellous in this- this has nothing to do with Katherine Hepburn.

You're taking it too personally! It was suppose to spark a discussion about who is better. Liz or Kate. What do you think?
