  • I assume the .5 moa windage is for spin drift?

  • @jcm151 yes it is for spin drift, I only dail elevation , spin drift and coriolis , than use holds for everything else, wind just never is a constant, but spin and coriolis is always.

  • Very impressive from the setup, to the cameras, and of course the shooting.

  • awesome video, hope to see more. Would you recommend this model for out of box accuracy?

  • @glocktasty this is a great rifle for the money.if you could only afford to spend $500- $600 on the rifle alone than yes I would say for that amount of money it is going to be hard to beat for out of the box accuracy. for just a little bit more the right mods make it a tack driver .However I would lean towards the SPS varmint, longer barrel will give ya alittle more speed.

  • Awesome

  • man you gotta tell what's your load on that!!!!! awesome result!!! you all are great!

  • Im very new at shooting, i just don't know how people do it, ik a MOA is a 16th of a degree, and that makes HUGE differences ot at 500 yards and beyond, but how people adjust for elevation and humidity is beyond me. I do know some of the tricks for judgig wind, but that involves you feeling it in your face, and its going to be muh different at 1000 yards, so i guess you guys are using the sway of the trees. Ether way GREAT shooting, im 14 y/o and new at shooting so tips would be appreciated :D

  • Great shooting man. Reminds me of Magpul Dynamics' precision rifle shooting video, where they push the .308 farther than most people would account for. Most people don't think the SPS tactical can do stuff like this, at least consistently but it sure can. What kind of rifling does it have? I'm not sure if it's got 5R or not.

  • Nice video guys.

  • Excellent shooting, do you mind me asking what scopes you're running?

  • @shs59 super sniper's ss10x42

  • Awesome video! I am sold on this rifle now. Is that the 1:10 twist or the1:12 twist barrel?

  • @JakeC132 it is a 1-12 twist but a 1-10 would be the end all with this rifle for me.

  • Awesome video! I'm s

  • Great video. What has the size of the plate and center bull. Many competitions use a 10" center bull at 1000 yrds. The .308 is such a fun round to work with. Have fun and stay safe.

  • @TRGshooter The steel plate is 20 in and the orange spot is appox 7-8 in, thanks for watching

  • i will be sure not to piss these guys off... great shooting guys!!!!

  • I'd be interested to see where you guys ran out of gas with a different load, maybe a 155 Scenar or AMAX?

  • @tannecr Amax would about the same.....A Scenar might get me alittle further cause of the speed as long as the conditions were right

  • @civilianmarksman Have you played with 243s at all? I should get in my first round of some testing done with a stock 700 this weekend, 105 AMAXes over Hybrid 100v and some H4350. Banking on the H4350 to do well as I've heard the Hybrid is very temp sensitive.

Really digging these videos! Cool to a snub 308 stretched out.

  • Nice shooting, fellas. I love it when those that can't/never have, call b.s. on those that can/do! I don't think my AR-10 could make these shots, but it would be fun trying! Kudos!!

  • Good video and very instructive. I would say EXCELLENT video but holy hell the music...it burns my ears!!! I thought the bon jovi music from the last video was bad but country is even worse :( Nice shooting and great tips though.

  • That is some damn good shooting, you have alot of skill. What load are you using, and have you had any work done to the rifle apart from the stocks you have fitted?

  • Just brought one home from the store........waiting on the one piece base so I can mount my scope. I have nothing against Remington, I just think Savage is a better value for the money. Thanks for the meat and potatoes field test. Keep your powder dry.

    Bear

  • i have one of these and its the most accurate rifle i have ever fired! how many moa were u at 1000yds?

  • @deadtofall666 in this video we were grouping at about 1.75 moa. we were not letting the barrel cool at all ...so they were barn burner groups as we call em. On a good day letting the barrel cool between shots the rifle will hold with hand loads .75 to 1 MOA depending on conditions... and if I do my part right.

  • @civilianmarksman thats awsome groupings, for a 600$ rifle u cant go wrong, Its a pretty good feeling when u can put 5 bullets into the same hole at 100 yrds

  • good stuff. my b&c 3 way medalist cracked so im stuck with my HS precision off my sendero for a while. SPS tac is def most bang for your buck. mine lives around .3 moa with factory hornady match 168 bthp.

  • Most impressive! I notice you have a Bell & Carlson Medalist A2 stock on your SPS, which is the same as what I have. Did you have an issue with the bolt just barely contacting the stock when closed? Mine seems to do this.

  • @SkeldZ06 I had to open the slot alittle. My shooting partner didnt have to do any prep to his.

  • @civilianmarksman Thanks. Good to know mine isn't a lemon then.

  • Good video.

  • Badass video ! Didn't expect the Kid to start playing. Cool points = perfect 10

  • what kind of scope are you using?

  • @bmc551 SS10x42

  • @civilianmarksman do you like it because i was looking for a decent tactical scope around 300$

  • @bmc551 i think it is the best bang for your buck..... I wish mine had a side parallax adjustment....I dont like it on the eye bell... For alittle more money they have one with it on the side.... thats my only bitch about it...other than that it hasnt let me down yet , and im hard on my gear.

  • Mr. Civilianmarksman

I enjoy sitting at my computer and watching shooting videos such as yours. You have a good video. If I may say, please leave out the music. I like the sound of the bolt opening and closing. I like the sound of the gun going bang. You music drown out all that. From one shooter to another, please leave out the music. Good shooting. Keep it up.

    Thanks

  • @ethorn62 I agree, good music, but it's nicer to hear the shots ring through the mountains!

  • Excellent. Ive pushed them well past 1000 and they're still holding MOA or better.

  • @OKPatriot92 good job, Thats pretty empressive for 20 inch long gun, would love to see some 1000 yd footage from ya, You got a cool channel keep up the good work.

  • Width of the plate?

  • @OKPatriot92 just shy of 20 inches

  • @civilianmarksman What projectile are you loading? How fast are you pushing it and what altitude are you at? I have a SPS Tac in a PSS stock. Im @39.5 for 1000yards. I enjoyed the video and subscribed.

    God bless

    --Mortis de Eminus--

  • @OKPatriot92 Im shooting 175 smk's 44 gr varget lapua brass brass neck sized only trim lenght 2.008-2.010 primers cci 200 oal 2.804 fps 2590 elevation 1037 baro pressure 28.9 Temp 60

  • @civilianmarksman Very interesting. Im shooting 175 SMKs, 44g varget, Winchester brass necksized only, federal primers, 2.802 OAL, 2575fps, elevation is 970, temp was 70.

  • @OKPatriot92 And how your results?

  • I love the videos guys, just to mention the SPS AAC, I have one with a timney trigger and 16x42 SS. Its a tac driver when I do my part, Ive made a few mickey mouse groups at 100 and 2-2.5inches at 304yds(longest Ive got a chance to shoot). My buddy has the same rifle with the Nikon Monarch 4-16x42 and his rifle grouped under 0.06.-0.08 inches at a 100yds out if the box running the crap-mark trigger and shooting a 200gr smk on 38grains of IMR. Maybe you guys should get one and see what you can do

  • you guys were shooting out of the box rifles? i have been looking at the SPS for a while now. been trying to get more inputs on different rifles. if this is OB (Out of Box) gun then it is impressive. 20" rifle at 1000yds, nice!

  • @chinopino7 we only changed the stock, and we are running handloads.....I'm very impressed with the SPS... would recomend to anyone that wants a competitive entry level weapon that you can build to suit as you grow as a long range shooter and or your budget allows.

  • Great shooting, great location, and great music. Doesn't get much better than that. :D

  • very nice man...love it

  • Great vid. How do you think the SPS Tac AAC-SD would compare. Meaning it has 1 in 10 twist vs 1 in 12.

  • @NCHunter79 Thanks for watching...In my opinion...The AAC/SD hands down is a better out of the box long gun. The 1-10 twist rate allows you to do alot more than a 1-12. ( Heavier projectiles for longer range shooting. )After a few mods to the sps tac it is a very impressive budget 308. I think the Trigger and Stock are the first that need to go after purchasing the weapon. There's not too many 308. 20 inch custom rigs I wouldnt run this one against round for round inside of 800 yds.

  • nice vid guys, just wish ya'll lived in NC. One of my pet loads is LC brass- remington 9/12 primer, 43.5gr of TAC powder, 168gr speer bthp match/ target bullet, C.o.a.l 2.810 in my sav model 10 fp. when i worked the load i was getting .468 on my caliper at 100yrds. it doesnt handle wind at 600yrd too well but trying out a new heavier load for 1000.

  • I think it will do fine...although I dont know where you will end up as far as charge wieght goes because I dont know how deep or shallow the chamber is.....thats what it is all about anyways....aslong as you start low and build up and stop shy of pressure signs....you weapon will be fine.

  • Its a damn shame you have to go through all that crap to prove your for real.

  • @Viking445 I know but what can ya do ya know.........funny though...when we did it this way it really shut some people up....lol

  • @civilianmarksman I bet it did! lol I assume your using custom loads. Mind sharing the specs? I'm about to buy a Howa 1500 20' heavy barrel in .308 but the longest range available to me is about 850yds.

  • @Viking445 Im shooting 175 smk's 44 gr varget lapua brass brass neck sized only trim lenght 2.008-2.010 primers cci 200 oal 2.804 fps 2590 elevation 1037 baro pressure 28.9 Temp 60 Would strongly suggest working up your own starting from the basement, this load was built for my rifle, and in the conditions I shoot and it is starting to show pressure signs. somewhere around 2550 - 2600 fps seems to be the sweet spot with this 20 inch barrel.

  • @civilianmarksman Thanx man. :) So its safe to say you pretty much at the limit of that action?

  • @Viking445

Theres guys that run 45 grn of varget .....But Im not that guy..... it's as far as im going with it......my wife likes my face like it is...and I think I do to. lol

  • @civilianmarksman bwhahaha ya not worth looking like two face over a couple hundred fps. Do you know if the Howa 1500 action is as strong?

  • @guardmarksman

Thanks Brother.....I dont know what the kinetic energy of a 44 mag is @ 20 yds...but I do know the this round is somewhere around 580 lbs 1000 yds.... still enough to really ruin your day. I think a 44 mag is probably more than that....I would hope so anyways..

  • Nice, wish I had some good places to try out my 308 at long range.

great music too can you list the artists other than Kid Rock?

  • @unkinjoe Sorry I had to sneak the other songs in... or youtube gives me shit about copyright laws.. -Ottis taylor."Nasty letter" and Tab Benoit " shelter me"

  • Some really nice shooting there!!!! keep it up nice vid.

  • Awesome vid. Love seeing the.308 reach out, looks like the 175gr are serving you well. Thanks for the vid.

  • hey can you pm me the specifics of your load ie grains of powder and COAL and also what is your fps?

  • great shooting, I assume that is a 12" target? what bullet, brass, primer and powder are you loading with?

  • @MrLfoltz

No sir that is appox a 20 inch steel being shot with a 20 inch barreled 308 without a cool down period between shots.

load is 175 smk, lapua brass , cci 200 primers& varget powder. The point of the video was to shoot at 1000 yds with a rifle that they say is done at 700 yds. The rifle held 2 moa groups @1000 yds with this load in tricky conditions.

We will shoot a video with less rounds ,but more precise shots in the future.

  • @civilianmarksman How many grains of varget? Have you chrono'd?

  • @lafayette512 Im shooting 175 smk's 44 gr varget lapua brass brass neck sized only trim lenght 2.008-2.010 primers cci 200 oal 2.804 fps 2590 elevation 1037 baro pressure 28.9 Temp 60 Would strongly suggest working up your own starting from the basement, this load was built for my rifle, and in the conditions I shoot and it is starting to show pressure signs. somewhere around 2550 - 2600 fps seems to be the sweet spot with this 20 inch barrel.
  • @civilianmarksman Good thing we have the same rifle! 44 sounds hot - I will see what i can cook up. Thanks for the help and great vids.

  • @civilianmarksman I would also like to add that we put loads together on the same day with 2 different rifles nearly the same and the loads were not even close. Can't agree enough about starting at the bottom with your own load.

  • how big is that target?

  • @lane1030

    appox 20x20

  • Awesome shooting. Your video description explains that you are using special handloads. How would your handloads differ from high-end factory loads such as Federal Gold Metal Match? Does this indicate that the Sps Tactical would not be capable of making 1k yard shots consistently with factory loads? Also, would you mind sharing information about your optic setup (what scope, rings, and mounts)? I recently purchased my Sps Tactical and I'm trying to find out what experienced shooters think.

  • @ryansilversimpson

The handload was put together to be shot past a 1000 yds. The problem with the sps Tactical is the 20 inch barrel, factory loads are more suited for weapons with longer barrels as most of testing and load work ups are for those weapons. Dont get me wronge though... they will shoot factory loads well, I just need to get max fps at the muzzel and down range. All and all I put more love into each handload than the factory does. When it leaves the bench it is flawless.

  • @ryansilversimpson

The scope is a super sniper fixed 10x.with a mildot ret. The rings are 1st gen Barrett Extended range rings ( 0- 40 moa adjustable). coupled to a 30 moa base. the base and rings alone allow for 70 moa, the scope is 120 moa+ way more adjustment than the rifle will use up, @ 1375 yds I still had adjustment left. thanks for watching

  • @civilianmarksman You're shooting 1000 yards with a 10x fixed zoom? That's insane! You two have to be some of the most talented marksmen on youtube. Good shooting; you make me want to start hand loading. My scope is a Nikon buckmaster 4.5-14x40 (mildot). I found out after buying it that it has 50 moa of total internal adjustment. It's paired with a 20 moa nightforce base, but I'm afraid that still might not get me to 1000 yards. It should still be good enough to let me practice at closer ranges.

  • @civilianmarksman Also, have you "honed" or "trued" your rings? Some have said that it's a crucial step to proper optic setup, and some say it really doesn't matter if you purchase high quality rings. What do you think?

  • @ryansilversimpson

cheaper rings would prob need it, but I have not ran into a prob where lapping was need yet on my equipment. I'd be pretty upset if I had to lap a $250.00 set of rings. But To answer your Question .....yes I do think it is a important step to the setup, if it is showing that it is needed. Most of your higher end rings are a matched pair, meaning there where once one ring and split into two from one piece of material.

In my opinion you would not need to lap a pair like that

  • @civilianmarksman Hey gunner, ordered a larue 20 moa base for my sps tactical aac-sd 308 I am on the fence about a scope, I looked at the barrets and am sold thou can only find 15-40 moa. with 35 to 60 moa, do you think I can still zero at 200 with a 65 total elevation or should I get a different scope? also swfa does not list the ss elevation for the scopes, which ss did you get? sorry about all the questions, keep the real clips rolling guys. great job.need more of it!

  • @VinniBob1 200 yard zero? yes I dont see why not.. the scope is ss 10x42 the bare bones model $299.95 just the scope.

best $300 you'll every spend on a scope. They advertise 120 + Moa elevation, mine runs out to 140, my buddies does the same. crank the turret down to the basement and bring it as close as you can to 200 yds with the rear ring, than fine tune with the turret. Thats how i do it. hope this helps

  • @VinniBob1

it wont let me do a link for some reason so I will try it this way

go to snipercentral, put this on the end of the address /ss1042.phtml

It is a good write up and info on the optic.

  • @civilianmarksman , thanks for the info,I read a shit load of reviews on the snipercentral site before, guess I didnt think to look there. I am going with the ss 10x42 ss, I need a couple scopes for a couple guns so this will be the first one of many. it was great to stumble upon you shooting the tactical at the distance. it is what I am looking to do so I have been reading and watching others to see what path to take. on that note, I need advice on my pill, you chucking 155's? I hate to fail

  • @VinniBob1 I will send you a PM on the subject

  • Hey what upgrades and scope do you use?

  • good shooting!

  • Are you in texas that's the only place I ever heard the word draw

  • @mywolf2can

thats funny....and no were in oregon, Over here there is so many different kinds of fingers, canyons, ridges, ect , there is a name for em all....I could of really confused people and called em what they really are over here...drainages.than everbody would be WTF is a drainage, are they shooting in a apartment complex or something?? lol a draw is a big revine thats to small to be a cayon and big to be a ravine.

  • @TheWhispersofdeath

thanks , and I dont regret buying this weapon at all, it does everything I ask of it with in reason

  • AMAZING! "cold bore shot" damn that's awesome, whats your recipe for that load? thanks for the upload glad I subb!

  • Awesome work guys. It's crazy watching just how quickly the wind can jack with your shot in that part of the country.

  • @MahaloMoFo

Thats what makes it fun... the conditions really never let you relax and get in a grove, you have to pay attention to every shot and not get lazy, it never fails the first time your not watching the vegatation move to dope the wind or glancing over at the weather station to notice pressure change and temp, your shot lands in the next zip code.

  • Great Vid i think ive seen afew of your others...Great soundtrack to this vid you just earned my subscription....Keep em coming........

  • @blkriflear15

thanks for watching and subbing to my channel

  • how big is that target? i like it. i was going to make an 18"

  • @danthman114

    19 1/2 x 20 I think

  • Great vid (and great tune)! Dumb question: I get the purpose of the three cameras in the debunking but I'm not quite sure what the radios accomplish?

  • @scooter17568 The 2nd radio is sitting next to the target cam. As you can see the camaras are all in sync with another. Without the sound we could put a video together that shows all hits and no misses(like half the videos on youtube) We want to show it as it really happens, Not the edited BS that the "mall ninja's" post trying to impress people.

  • @TACTICALRUM Ah, I get it now. Keep up the great work!

  • I guess us flatlanders have one major advantage. We don't have to deal with nearly as bad winds. They're almost alway lateral and the same direction and speed from rifle to target. I'm horrible at doping those winds even.

  • Great video! I'm gona have try that trick.

  • awesome vid man, I envy the space you have to shoot. thanks dude

  • @thedudecarrying

thanks ,That is one thing I love about Oregon, theres always somewhere to shoot long range all year long.
