  • Very humble guy, willing to teach you how to master the guitar until you're as good as him (course no one's ever came that close), very comical and sweet. Gotta love the guy.

  • I haven't seen Eric in a few years. I used to take lessons during my formative years growing up and he was such a treat to play with and learn from. A truly wonderful person who taught me music. Still a fan of his electric stuff as well,he did way back when called The Hipperoos!! A really wonderful person.

  • Proud to call him my friend...

  • bet this dude could tear an electric UP......

  • ... interessantissimo, ma accordata molto male. Peccato.

  • i listened to him play a couple days ago; best guitar player i've ever heard. and i talked to him; he's such a nice guy. :)

  • @benjamincharles1 Same here. Great guy, lives here!!!

  • Here's why Youtube is strange: andy makee more popular than this guy

  • cool.

  • I have actually had the priveledge of talking with Eric Loy on a couple occasions at the Depot Coffee House in Urbana, Ohio. He's a very nice guy and very willing to share what he knows:) Though i can't remember the proper name for it..he taught me how to do the 'fake harmonics' on guitar:) He is actually a big inspiration with his music... Heck, he's so nice he GAVE ME one of his DVD's! Keep it up Eric

  • One of the hardest instruments to play. Eric plays it like the master he is. But Eric's a bit mad. Mad in a good way I mean. He's a genius who is one of the nicest down to earth people on the planet.

  • hardest to tune as well, it seems every youtube video i see with a harp guitar, those base notes are always off. This guy is awesome though.

  • my hands hurt when i watch this!

  • this is one of my all time favorite videos... I saw it 3 years ago and still watch it and share it to this day. great job.

  • A harp guitar....Wow...I'd love to learn something as cool as that. I know it's gotta be expensive. : O

  • Cool! Who built that harp guitar? -Derek

  • Hey Derek, I know that Eric had this guitar custom built for him by a luthier out of Franklin , Ohio. I can't remember his name , but I could find out for you if you wanted to know. It has 24 strings and I think it has 3 different pickups hooked into an xlr out.

  • Thanks Paul. If you find out shoot me an e-mail. I am curious to know the luthier. It probably takes as long to tune it as it did to build it!! :-) -Derek

  • how much would a guitar like that cost??? send me a message plz ^^

  • About 5,000 american dollars. this one has the super treble strings so maybe a little more.

  • about 4,900 g

  • he shoul be an incredible musician ,but that day ... maybe he smoked somethin strange

  • bit overboard on the guitar but i like it :D

  • i think i would probably get for it one but i need a handybook how to tune this heck

  • Sounds like an ice cream van.

  • ahahaha

  • this guy looks like patrick swayze in road house

  • There's tasteful, and then there's overkill. But still, a VERY talented guy.

  • nice, that is unique and original ...

  • keep working on it buddy

  • hahah that would be hilarious if all his strings broke at the same time.... not bad but it sounds a lil outta tune

  • This would be really good if the instrument was in tune.

  • I bet that thing sucks to change out old strings on

  • Half of it is Silent Night, half is just him showing off. I know it's really damn cool that he can do something that complicated, but the point of playing a pre-established song is to do credit to it, not to show off.

  • "yea, tapping and know a 60 string'ed instrument requires no skill. I mean COME ON he's not EVEN in an arena!!! what is his problem. He is so terrible. might as well quit" You people are idiots.

  • As most Fridays find me in a coffee shop, I have heard Mr. Loy a number of times. He may be fundamentally good and have an interesting instrument, but I find his over exuberance in both his playing and his sound levels (Eric... you're in a coffee shop, not an arena...) just spoil his performances. Last time I heard him his amp gave out towards the end of a song and at that point I thought he sounded a lot better playing purely acoustically.

  • I had a few lessons from Eric, and he is phenomenally good. He would smoke any of you keyboard critics.

  • :) I could throw a guitar and a harp down a set of stairs and I'm certain I could produce the same sound.

Seriously though. Tune that beast and play something coherent.

  • yeah, a proper song on this could sound sooo cool!!!

  • "COHERENT", "PROPER" song? I heard "Silent Night, Holy Night", a Christmastime staple.

  • ??? ok? so ya can hear a bit of silent night!!! did ya enjoy it???

  • a bit? I couldn't STOP hearing Silent Night. No matter how he juked that thing; thought it was the psychodelic ice cream truck remix, but I'd be delighted to replace "Do Your Ears Hang Low?"

  • do your drugs cost much??

  • A LOT. Guess I should start back on them.

  • This is cool, but a little out of tune. The guitar that is, not the composition.

  • he stole my technique at :37

this is what happens when you get a guy with insane technique that doesn't spend enough time percussing his tunes. hilarious lol!

  • I have no idea what I meant by my earlier comment lol. I think I meant massaging or ironing out instead of percussing lol

  • well, if you want to see a really good guitar player, search for Yamandu costa

  • Please Tune

  • That's a lot of strings!

  • sounds like an ice cream truck, and just as in tune

  • Sorry for so many post.I hit reply to "wappadudu" down below & thought it was to show up down there not at the top...8\

  • I've known Eric for years personally. He's a very good friend of mine and I'll tell you, he's one of the finest guitarist in the US right now. His playing is baffling and mysterious! Also, Eric is about the finest person there is.

  • Agree totally,,,Erics playing is brilliant and he is a very kind and funny at times person! All the best to Eric!

  • Eric is both kind and quirky...a very unique person.

If Pablo Picaso played guitar instead of becoming a painter, I imagine that he would've sounded a lot like Eric.

  • what the hell was that dude?

  • very confusing-ish

  • brillent! oh hay eric its me brian in eaton

  • so fucking beautifull

  • Lotsa skill, but where's the fuckin' melody? It gets very tiring after a while, too much going on!

  • I agree. He is fantastic but should think more towards the sound than the tricks and how fast can I go.He may be the best if he put genius and being master into the sound and not the speed, and too many tricks in too short a time.Maybe showing off?

  • Agree. If he stops showing off with the speed & too many tricks to fast and concentrated on being a Master Musician he would probably be the best.

  • Agree.Stop showing off with the speed & too many tricks to fast and concentrate on being a Master Musician & he would probably be the best.

  • Jazzy 'Silent Night', right? (I hope?) Wonderful performance.

  • very very very good!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • ....and, as said here before, please invest in a chromatic tuner. Those in the crowd with decent pitch will be grateful.

  • Sounds terrific to me. Think microtone if you're actually locked into A440 or something.

  • You have an amazing instrument and technique......but please keep the melody alive amidst the gnat notes.

Have mercy on the non-guitarists out there. (Michael Hedges was so good in concert, even the non-guitarists had a great time.)

  • agreed

  • horrible steel string sound yack!

  • coolest guitar ever. so many strings!

  • Beautiful touch~ really cool!

  • After all that exercise he'll be knackered

  • great

  • ehu ehu bu ne be:) bu aptal alettin adi harp gitarmi mina koyim yaw, ulan biz alti tellisiyle zor bas ederken herife bak yav...

  • Christ, hearing this after listening to Andy McKee like a devoted zombie to brains really wants me to find some nicer music. Music with some more sense than technical modern bits and pieces in it...

  • And I thought playing banjo was a challenge! Great job.

  • this is lame i think.

  • Tune that thing please.

  • how the hell do you go about tunning a harp guitar anyways

  • string by string...

  • oh shit ive been hitting mine with a hammer

  • lol i favrited this video just for that comment..

  • What a great player....

  • Eric is a great player....

    really good stuff.

  • Wow, what an amazing instrument

  • this should be featured, its amazing

  • Amazing.

  • Haha dang awesome
