I'm not one to be against testing, seeing it as (generally) necessary, but...

...didn't they get all the data they could ever want with Shot Able and Shot Baker at Bikini Lagoon during Operation Crossroads in 1946? Two 20 kiloton bombs and over a hundred ships. Did somebody lose the data between these two tests??? Just kind of seems redundant, that's all. Probably a good explanation I just never heard it I guess.

The dome of TNT crates they had to stack up is literally too big to be moved by any plane or boat (at least in one piece), and they'd have to set it all up in a nice big stack right in the middle of the place they wanted to blow up. So no, it will never happen, thankfully.
