McCain Offers $300 Million for New Auto Battery, Comment toThe Associated Press report. Republican presidential candidate John McCain is proposing a $300 million government prize to whoever can develop an automobile battery that far surpasses existing technology. (June 23)
Ok, so who gets the Prize, Toyota and Panasonic for making the modifications to the NiMH EV-95 battery that allowed it to work at a usable temperatures or Chevron for buying the patent from General Motors and shelving it ?
Is she trying to make me go on a guilt trip for that .1 celsius increase we made or does she even know the percage that nature make of all CO2(little under 97%)? I see alot of these alarmist trying to take away my rights and the more I look at it I think global governance. These alarmist will not even defend there argument in a debate because they don't debate but they do put there faith in computer models that don't even put water vapor(95% of the GHG effect) as a factor.
Actually McCain opposes drilling in wildlife refuges. He also knows the offshore drilling is just a political stunt so the "drill here drill now" numbnuts will vote for him.
The real problem with his battery prize is we already have 3 or 4 designs for batteries that are just fine for EV use -- the only thing that needs improvement is the cost, and that's not a technological fix, it's all about supply lines, mass production, and economies of scale.
At times he has backed measures to ease restrictions on oil drilling off the coast and in Alaska's Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. Other times he has voted to keep them.
He has championed standards to require that automakers make vehicles more fuel-efficient, yet opposed standards to require that utilities use less fossil fuel by generating more power from renewable sources, such as wind and solar.

Obama seems to understand that, thankfully.
