  • This is really good treatment, I had before in Thailand Bumrungrad International Hospital. I need dry needling , again. I want it. Unfortunately, I can't find this kind of doctor here in USA. Why???

  • it can not be acupuncture without a traditional diagnosis. whats happening with the 5 elements? the pt is doing Eurocentric western physical medicine

  • Dear Acudoctor. iF you really are a Dr, TCM you would have noticed the precise location of the insertion. If you did, you would have noted that the practitioler was needling the JIA JI on the lower thoracic area which is at least one cun deep and perpendicular with zero risk of pneumothorax. The double standard here is laughable lecturing on how and physio or massage therapist (who commonly are better trained on anatomy) shouldn't be alloowed to utilize a strictly musculo-skeletal approach.

  • This is not acupuncture. Do your homework and read about myofascial pain first! When used by a well trained professional it is one of the best tools for myofascial pain there.

  • I'm sorry to disagree but THAT IS ACUPUNCTURE on the video and it should be someone licensed and trained to do acupuncture performing the treatment..

  • OMG! Who trained this woman? Putting a needle that long perpendicular to the back is just asking for a pneumothorax (collapsed lung) which can lead to death. Letting an essentially untrained person do acupuncture (and let's be clear, that's what this is, you are using an ACUPUNCTURE NEEDLE) is just plain nuts and asking for trouble.

  • @TheAcudoctor

While I agree that it was a poor choice to use a long needle, it did not appear she was using the full length. Secondly, you can't say it acupuncture, just because they are using an acupuncture needle. Just because i use a hammer from time to time doesn't make me a carpenter

  • This is acupuncture. Call it whatever you want, but by state definitions this is acupuncture and unless you are a qualified state licensed acupuncturist, you have no business practicing. This is the equivelant of an acupuncturist doing surgeries and calling it "wet needling". Total BS. If you are looking for acupuncture, please seek out a qualified state licensed acupuncturist who is properly trained. If you want to practice acupuncture, GO TO SCHOOL FOR IT!!!.

  • This is absolutely acupuncture. These practitioners are needling Ah Shi points and do not have the appropriate training to do this therapuetically. This is not within their scope of practice. This is however, a technique that acupucnturists do regularly to treat the same conditions the PT's are treating. I am an acupuncturist, which means I have over 1900 hours of training in my field. "Dry needling" is an invented term to make it seem to be different than acupucnture.

  • In the USA a "Physical Therapist", is the same as a Physiotherapist in other jurisdictions such as Australia, UK, etc. The video refers to a "Physical Therapist", so would probably have similar training to a Physiotherapist. My humble opinion is that only practitioners with health care degrees should practice any health care discipline, whether it be massage, TCM Acupuncture, Dry Needling or otherwise.

  • dry needling is in its "dark ages"... what a silly comment... im study myotherapy, nearly done, in it we are trained to do dry needling, and we arent shown in 6 days, first the TP's are learnt (Trigger Points) this took 13 weeks. then you are taught the technique of inserting the needle etc. yes, this part is only maybe a week or so.

So if you were to do this from scratch with no TP knowledge it would take about 14 weeks. BUT, you wont be able to be qualified anywhere in australia,

  • .... as you need a minimum of myotherapy or phisiotherapy to be allowed to practive Dry Needling, i dont know how they let a Personal Trainer learn Dry needling.

Also, Acupuncture points, HAPPEN to also be on a few TP's, but MANY trigger points dont have an accupuntcure point on them.

TP therapy is one the most up and coming techniques, and is EXTREMELY effective, it has shown practical results.. etc...

  • Mind you, Im not a personal trainer, rather a physiotherapist with a university degree and fully licensed.

  • 1.Dry needling is not just about Trigger Points release... new research explained dry needling can work on both CNS and PNS level.

2.Dry needling is just one of many tools a physio uses. Being a PT, I did a 6 day course and I claim myself a dry needling practitioner.

    3. In practice, dry needling heavily borrowed TCM acupunture techniques.

    4. In research, TCM theory guides dry needling researchers to find evidence to 'back up' TCM theories. So, DN is still in its 'Dark Age'-dont get 2 proud

  • thanks for the updated information!

  • @SeamasterNo1 Please do you have any video of dry needling for carpo tunells?

    thankyou very much!!
