PMSL this is the best match in the history of the show, if not definitely the biggest upset in the history of the show. As a Razer fan, I never liked Tornado.
Funny thing is Diotoir, for all the times they've been caught on fire, is actually quite an underestimated robot: durable and good power. Not only that, what I like about them is no matter if they are winning or losing, they're ALWAYS great to watch.

Tornado didn't deserve to lose, considering it won a match with Killalot and Bash. But it broke down, and these things can happen. But the moment at 4:29 was so obviously overhyped, as Tornado would've been counted out anyway.

I always hated the use of Sir K and Sarge as a house robot combination (but I like it when both house bots are alongside Matilda in the same game), because it delivered a negative atmosphere. It is to be honest, nonsensical, as I don't decide who are the house bots, but Tornado showed the character capable of winning a tournament against Gravedigger.
whats every one crying about, my dad was a judge on a university version of robot wars here in Australia tell me what the fight is and i'll get him too look at. They used the same rules as in the UK version

Comedy routine aside I don't really get why people keep saying losing to Diotoir is so embarrassing. It's a decent machine, durable and powerful as they displayed here. The only problem they have is an underpowered weapon.

I agree on the Razer/Tornado point - yes, Tornado would have gotten massacred without the frame - everyone knew that including the Tornado team. They used the frame knowing this (which was NOT against the rules,) and they still almost lost to Razer, almost going in the pit, winning only by the skin of their teeth via judges decision...and isn't that what the grand final of any series of RW should be? An epic struggle between two robots as opposed to Razer trashing Tornado in 30 seconds?

Yeah i saw it on tv when it came out a few years ago Tornado deserved to get smashed all over the arena and there robot is shit all it is a box on wheels that pushes robots around into the pit and stuff. It was ok when it had the cutting disc on but still i never liked Tornado they deserved a good smashing by Storm 2 and at least Storm 2 had a lifter on it.

Modifying a robot to not fit in the pit is deliberately preventing defeat. It was fucking stupid of the judges to make a size limitation that was bigger than the pit. If it was up to me, Tornado would've been disqualified for not being able to fit in there. An anti-pit device is the most unfair, cowardly, pathetic and unprofessional piece of pig crap ever invented for Robot Wars, and that's why no one else used one.
Hey, you might be right. Tornado already weighed around 100kg so a frame like that must weigh a few extra kilos. And the weight limit from Series 6 onwards was 100kg. It must've pushed Tornado over the weight limit.

An anti-pit-device is totally fair. The pit isn't the only way to defeat an opponent you know, you wouldn't be complaining if Tornado has fitted some magic spring device to get it back into the arena when Chaos 2 threw it out. It's just strategically eliminating a way you could lose and no rules were broken in doing so.
Firstly, Razer's extra spike didn't push it over the weight limit; it weighed 96kg (even with the claw).
Secondly, just because the judges allowed that cage it doesn't make it fair.

I think Tornado lost because before series 6+7, Tornado couldnt push very well. It was when robots were alowed the extra weight (20kg) that Tornado turned into a really good rammer.
Incredible, Diotoir of all robots succeeded where the likes Firestorm, Hypno Disc, Pussycat, Chaos 2 and even Razer have failed I mean they aren't a bad robot but noone can say they saw that one coming.
You wouldn't credit it, would you? But from the start, that was really the only way Diotoir could have won- they were smart enough to see it and they drove well enough to earn the victory.
I think Tornado's batteries were running low actually, which is why Diotoir was able to outpush them.
Amazingly, this is one battle where Diotoir isn't set on fire, even with Bash after them!
Hey, those robots are in here for ENTERTAINMENT, and don't care whether they win or lose. Some of them are actually good-Diotoir is living (Well, robotic) proof that funny robots can be successful.
Think about 101 as well. That had a toy bunny on it, but they got to the semi-finals of series 3, and the heat final of series 4!
I knew as soon as i saw Tornado reversing and than raming into Diotor that something was wrong. I knew Tornado, and in a real match than tornado would follow through the ram...
I remember watching this at my Nan's ages ago. I loved Diotoir back from when it was Nemesis. I remember seeing the line up and my heart sinking, DIOTOIR WAS SCREWED! And as the battle started I thought it was all over as it was getting pused around, bt suddenly, Diotoir held it's ground! And pushed back! I can't tell you how happy I was when Tornado went down ^_^. BestDiotoir moment ever.
Yeah, now G4 took it over: A money-hungry company with a bunch of crappy shows. Though I gotta admit Ninja Warrior is pretty good, maybe even better than Takashi's Castle, but that's about it.

First, Diotoir wasn't in Series 6. Second, Diotoir, despite everything that JP says, is a very good robot. You ever heard of the term "Never judge a book by its cover"?
Yeah. The flipper got them to the World Championship quarter-finals, they flipped Steel Avenger in series 3 to make the heat final, and again flipped Steel Avenger to win the Tag Team Terror. It was also very reliable, and had a lot of pushing power, as seen here. If Robot Wars was still going, we may have seen them in the semis, had they got an efficient srimech - the one thing they lacked.
If Diotoir had had a proper working Srimech, it could have won that heat. It probably wouldn't have gone any further though. Shame they never came back after that (aside from the TTT, where I bet they wished they'd stayed back in Dublin).

Yeah except Tornado didn't cheat. Using the framework wasn't against the rules. Interchangeable weapons are fair-play in Robot Wars, they used the one they thought would work against Razer and it did. Exploiting your opponents weakness is just good strategy.

Yeah tornado didnt cheat but i feel that frame was too big for that fight. It should have been against some rule. It would have been fair if either the pit was bigger or the frame was smaller and IMO is very unfair. Some people agree with me others dont but its very unsporting way to win, and what makes you think that im crying over razers loss? as you can see tornado lost here in this vid and this isnt that fight. If you want to gloat about it do it somewhere else.

I remember watching this battle on TV. I laughed myself shitless when Tornado got shoved down the pit. I wanted Tornado to lose after they beat Gravedigger in Round 1, but I never thought they would be pitted by Diotoir!

I think Tornado lost because before series 6+7, Tornado couldnt push very well. It was when robots were alowed the extra weight (20kg) that Tornado turned into a really good rammer.

Incredible, Diotoir of all robots succeeded where the likes Firestorm, Hypno Disc, Pussycat, Chaos 2 and even Razer have failed I mean they aren't a bad robot but noone can say they saw that one coming.

You wouldn't credit it, would you? But from the start, that was really the only way Diotoir could have won- they were smart enough to see it and they drove well enough to earn the victory.
I think Tornado's batteries were running low actually, which is why Diotoir was able to outpush them.
Amazingly, this is one battle where Diotoir isn't set on fire, even with Bash after them!

Hey, those robots are in here for ENTERTAINMENT, and don't care whether they win or lose. Some of them are actually good-Diotoir is living (Well, robotic) proof that funny robots can be successful.
Think about 101 as well. That had a toy bunny on it, but they got to the semi-finals of series 3, and the heat final of series 4!

I remember watching this at my Nan's ages ago. I loved Diotoir back from when it was Nemesis. I remember seeing the line up and my heart sinking, DIOTOIR WAS SCREWED! And as the battle started I thought it was all over as it was getting pused around, bt suddenly, Diotoir held it's ground! And pushed back! I can't tell you how happy I was when Tornado went down ^_^. BestDiotoir moment ever.

Actually, no it didn't. The fur was an OUTER coating. It had aluminium underneath.

Yeah. The flipper got them to the World Championship quarter-finals, they flipped Steel Avenger in series 3 to make the heat final, and again flipped Steel Avenger to win the Tag Team Terror. It was also very reliable, and had a lot of pushing power, as seen here. If Robot Wars was still going, we may have seen them in the semis, had they got an efficient srimech - the one thing they lacked.

If Diotoir had had a proper working Srimech, it could have won that heat. It probably wouldn't have gone any further though. Shame they never came back after that (aside from the TTT, where I bet they wished they'd stayed back in Dublin).
