This ad doesn't make sense. Sen Lugar has shown real leadership in a conservative fiscal way all through his career with focus on Hoosiers and the nation. Before turning on electable conservative leaders, one should remember what happened in Delaware and Nevada last cycle.
If we default Obama gets to decide unilaterally how and where money is spent. This does not sound like a conservative or pro-growth idea to me. Lugar has voted for the balanced budget amendment every time. He introduced the Fair Tax in 1995, before it was the in-vogue "conservative thing" to be. This is an unneeded and unnecessary expenditure by the club for growth and I hope it does not impact an otherwise thoughtful and principled group's ability to raise money.

This is absurd. Lugar has literally been a true fiscal conservative for his entire career as a public servant for Indiana. Chocola is working for few people of extreme ideological ideas. Lugar works for every Hoosier and American. I guess that's why he's enjoyed reelection so often, whereas Chocoa was ousted years ago.
The Club for Growth is led by a failed legislator who couldn't make tough decisions. This attack is just silly and out of touch with the realities of our economy. Debti is no good, but the complete collapse of our financial system would have ruined our country.
Senator Lugar has always supported a balanced budget amendment and has advocated a vote on the amendment before any vote on the debt ceiling. It's a shame that the club for growth is taking money from Democrats to run this ad.
I'd like to know the Club for Growth's definition of 'growth'... based on this video, they dislike anything that could help the private sector become more vibrant and sustainable. If they had as much understanding of economics and fiscal conservatism as they do a penchant for political opportunism, it might be possible to take them seriously.

Dick Lugar is a strong, solid conservative. He ALWAYS has been. He supports a balanced budget amendment (always has), he wants to shrink the size of government (always has), he wants to reduce the amount of spending (always has), wants to grow our economy (always has) and provide jobs for Hoosiers (always has). Dick Lugar is the solution, not the problem. Wake up.
If Lugar is truly a conservative, he will survive. I am in California so if better candidates have been recruited, I wish they would bring them here.
