you UFC/MMA fanboys need to realize that BJJ is not the only jiu jitsu in the world! The system these guys are showing, is for use in self defense, not in a ring where a referee is there to save your ass when you tap out.
BTW is this footage from a dvd that's available to the public? If so where can we buy it? I went to the website mentioned in the video but it directed me to a myspace page, there is no direct link to buy the dvd.
If you search this art's history, you'll find that it's founder Moses Powell Learned Jujutsu from Professor Florendo Visitacion who studied Small Circle Jujutsu under Professor Wally Jay (its founder) who learned Judo & Jujutsu from Dan Zan Ryu Jujutsu Founder Henry Okazaki who was the first to introduce Jujutsu to americans. if you trace most of the Arts like Vee-Jitsu, Sanuces, & lots of other Martial Arts Systems, you'll find they Spawned From Okazaki's System.
would love to see some of these techniques applied during an actual sparring session or in competition against resisting opponents... that would be totally awesome!!!
That answers part of a question Ive had for quite some time now. Is it the practitioner's manipulation of the opponent that sends them flying, the opponent's experience of pain causing them to submit or just the sheer movement itself? I am curious because this is something I want to get into somewhere in my near future. Always loved martial arts from day one. . .
not exactly the reason of the opponent going "flying" if you will is because there's a break within the technique the ookey ( i think that's how u spell it lol) is taught and trained to take falls so that when they do work or techniques they avoid a possible broken arm I hope this answered your question if not ... I'll try again heh
Enjoyed our phone call today Grand Master..my nephew is ready for cross training(smile)! Can you show him a little Sanuces "love"!!! Master Don Parker (Executive Self Defense) ESD!
Japanese Jitsu is something else then modern europe jiu jitsu, it's also something else as BJJ, BJJ is orginaly Judo.

some of these techniques make it where you don't wanna resist
purenathan 3 years ago
if you did resist your arm / wrist whatever would be broken like a twig, thats why they jump and flip around to avoid that
