  • This man just finished having sex and thought he might want to play the blues.

  • dam nice. :)

  • yo, man that was smooth. liked it very much. i have a mexican strat rosewood neck and i love my strat to death. i was caught between a squire and a strat...glad i made the right choice. my next strat will be a maple neck..how does those necks feel compared to a rosewood TO YOU? because i know its personal taste and all..i find maple necks to be brighter than rosewood. well, like i said nice cut. cya!

  • Hi man, my stratocaster is just the same as yours, including the color and maple scale. I really loved it for the first time I held it in my hands. The best thing is that this guitar pleases my hands, ears and eyes and still fits in my pocket. Althought it all, I guess it would be two times better if came originally with locking tuners and, if it not asking too much with the roller nut included.

  • i love ceramic strat pickups. Thanks for helping me make up my mind on a purchse coming up.

  • @solerso68 No probs. Enjoy!

  • what backing track are you using?

  • @NickeyWhitfield One from a UK guitarist magazine.

  • Wow, is there any effect on that or is that just the amp?

  • @xfast56 Just reverb :).

  • dude i got the same robe same color strat not so much hairy cest though lol

  • Lol.

  • Smooth

  • good blues playing, and nice guitar D:

  • finally someone starting out of 1st position lol

  • Great job man. Digging it.

  • what scale you using there bud?

  • A minor blues.

  • Man, who still rocks a bath robe? ..sounded good

  • Great way to start the day

  • You're doing well. And I like that whole story about starting the day this way. Although I couldn't do it. In the morning I'm miles away from producing something worth listening to. ;)

Where did you get the backing track?

  • Thanks. Backing track was from a UK guitarist magazine.

  • good, this was really great, i loved it.

  • Thanks.

  • You, my good man, have some awesome chest hair.

  • good job.

  • Simple Gooood Music!!!! Take care

  • Thanks!

  • what model are you playing and how much does this guitar cost? You sound great. how do u compare this strat to a SRV or JRV model? your pickups?

  • This is the mexican standard strat. The SRV strat is a much more expensive model, the JRV is mexican i think but both better sounding than this one. UK this one is around £400. I have the american standard strat now. Thanks.

  • Yep, the Jimmie Vaughan is Mexican. He says he's all about affordability for players and eschews marking up a guitar for a signature or a country of origin.

  • i honestly prefer the ceramic magnet pu's that come in the mexican strat to most of the "vintage" style fender pickups.if they came stock with one reverse wound and used acrylic laquer instead of the poly stuff I would never buy another kind of strat ever again.

  • Is this the backing track for Guitarist's Tone Genie demo? Coz it sounds like it! Whatever it is, awsome chops man!

  • suena lindo me encanta

  • Do you coordinate your robes with your guitars?

  • Nope, got a 3TS american strat now. This one is sold.

  • ok i just thought it did as mine looks bit the same but ok

  • is that a blue lake placid mexican strat?

  • Nope, sage green.

  • how is the action on the strat?

  • very nice!

  • are those the stock pickups in the guitar?

  • Yup

  • Very cool dude. You rock.

  • Nice and mellow blues tune. Love the warm tone. Keep 'm coming.

  • This is nice blues playing, ill be getting a mexi strat pretty soon.

  • Congrats, ace choice :)

  • i wanted to get an epiphone dot semi hollow, i heard that mexican strats are pieces of shit, is it true

  • The epi has humbuckers so a bit different. If a strat is what your looking for, no they are not a piece of shit. Just upgrade what you don't like.

  • You've got a great sound and a nice playing, but sorry man I don't get you in a robe on YT.

  • Vid wasn't ment for youtube just a practice, but hey stuck it on for you all to see.

  • Anyways you did a good job.

  • Nice, but too much reverb ;)

  • nice playing

    lol i luv the robe

  • That was too sweet!

  • Thanks!

  • Thanks, amp settings are; Bass Mid Treble all 10, Reverb 10, overdrive on amp 6, volume 6, master volume 3. May need fine tuning for your guitar or different amp. Thanks again.

  • I was going to rebuild a Fender Squier Bullet Strat and decided to trade for a Mexican Standard. It's got a bit more bass tone than all of the other MIM & MIA Standard Strats that I tried. Must be a knot or something in the alder. Figure I'll have the pickups changed in it and build on this one after I get really good at it. The Mexican seems to be more sensitive than the Chinese made Bullet Strat. Playing guitar cause the wife died and it's emotionally healing. Paid about $450 for the Strat.

  • Sorry to hear that. I think with the Mexican ones there is always a pick of the bunch. Saying that i heard the body and neck are American, they are shipped down the road to the Mexican factory 20 miles away and fitted with cheaper pickups etc, so i swapped the cheap stuff out! :P

  • did you upgrade your pickups if so what kind did you use sounds great

  • Not for this vid its standard. I have 57/62's in it now and an American deluxe humbucker. Sounds better but no vids.

  • love your feel. im getting a mexi strat next week and i keep hearing different opinions on it. how is it with regards to staying in tune?

  • Hey, thanks for the comment. I think you gotta check and play them wouldn't recommend mail order. I got this one from a local guitar shop. Stays in tune perfect. As i said in earlier comments, since this video I've upgraded with better pickups and tuners, but even with original set up its a quality instrument. 100% recommended!!

  • I'll tell you what...I've had 3 Mex Strats and 2 Mex Tele's, 1 American Strat and 1 American Tele and to be honest, I can't tell the difference. I've got a Mex Tele now and it sounds every bit as good as a $1200 Amer Tele. I play my guitars through a Fender Cyber Twin Amp which I know a lot of people ddon't care for but its got everything and this baby is putting out 65 watts per channel. But yeah, I give Mex Strats a 10 and Tele's too.

  • I agree. I have fitted this one out with one American deluxe humbucker ant 2 57/62 single coils re wired and American standard tuners. Wouldn't trade it for any other guitar.

  • very good, i love the playing

  • Nice playin. I can't say I've watched someone play guitar in a rob before.

  • IIIIIIiiii got the blluuuues for you...

  • esta haciendo que toca. jaja air guitar...

  • something is weird about this, i think your timing is off or something or you aren't bending the strings right. but i love the song though.

  • No its the sync of sound and video. The sound is ahead of the video.

  • jammin in the bath robe lol nice dude

  • nice dark blues.

  • yo man pretty sweet shit i just started learning some blues but hey where can i get the backing track??

  • Was on a UK Guitarist magazine. Thanks.

  • ow, nicehat's not to expensive=)

  • how much did this guitar cost?

  • Think it was around £430. I traded in for it tho. Bought it in 2006, prices have dropped since then with internet competition etc.

  • the 2006 to present are the best mexi standard you can buy.they were upgraded in 2006.

    upgrades are

    much thicker bridge block

made with the same woods that most american strats are made of.

    medium-jumbo frets

    top quality.

  • smooth real smooth i like it.i have a mexican strat of my own. could i ask where you got that back track??

  • Thanks, It came from an old copy of Guitarist magazine.

  • thats the backing to "the things that i used to do" by stevie ray voughn isn't it?

  • No just a standard backing track. I'll check out the SRV track tho.

  • i'd only change the color of the guitar, nothing else =)

  • Did you just wake up? Nice playing.

  • I did yes :-) & thanks.

  • bel suono

  • Nice stuff...I have a similar guitar! Standard blue agave mex! Cept I pimped it out a little bit - stuck a SD hot rail in the bridge! And removed that pesky volume control right beneth the high e string! Made a big improvement!

  • is that the aguave standard strat?

  • sweet & bluesy *thumbs up*

  • amp settings and backing track info pleez... thats awesome .. yay getting a standard strat soon :D

  • Backing track is off a magazine. Amp settings is, Bass Mid Treble all 10, Reverb 10, overdrive on amp 6, volume 6, master volume 3. Works for this small amp may need fine tuning for another. Congrats on guitar! Look forward to video's from you soon!

  • not bad, my friend. nice to see some relaxed and slow improv on the blues and minor pentatonic instead of fast, distorted, wah wahed crap that so many youtubers over-play. I have the same guitar, a MIM standard sage green strat, but mine's hss, how's your config?

  • Mine is hss too. American deluxe humbucker and 57/62 middle & neck. This vid was taken when it was standard. After 2 USA made strat's i settled on this one, never goes out of tune.

  • Nice man. Your axe sounds great!

  • this is really really good.

  • Thanks!

  • Hey man, what kind of dressing gown is that? I've been playing for 9 years and I've NEVER seen one like that before.

  • Lol i got it from a store called Donalds, Nightshift by invicta is the brand. £24.99 on sale!

  • LMAO thats probably the best comment i think ive ever seen :P

  • one question ^^ can i have the tabs for that song^^ its awesome =)

  • Hi Damien, sorry it's improvised but key is A. Scale i used is Aminor blues no extra notes. Let me know if this helps.

  • what scale are u talking about^^ maybe we use other expressions cause i live somewhere else.....matter of fact, im sorry i didnt get what u tried to tell me ^^

  • A minor blues.

  • alright ill find out about that ^^ thx xD

  • bro great strat tone turn the reverb down a hair play with the bends from your gut with more feelings

  • It's a shame the sound is a bit out of sync with the video, because that's some really nice playing.

I love the tone also. Keep up the good work ;)

  • hay man whats the name of the song your soloing too?

  • Not sure it's just a backing track for lead improvisation.

  • great playing... love the blues

  • great use of reverb

  • Thanks :-p

  • Nice play

  • i put it five stars just because you began on my birthday with a blues guitar playin...

  • Well happy birthday :-)

  • dude if you are going to make a fake video atleast come with a better way to play it

  • It's not fake it has video lag the sound is ahead of the video!

  • im thinking about getting a mexican strat, how are they?

  • I'd recommend one, this video was taken before i upgraded pickups i think it sounds good. Anything your not happy with you can upgrade later. Just check tuning stability in store, mine is fine but heard a few have problems (USA strat's too) nothing a good set up wont fix tho.

  • thanks

  • veeery good

  • we've got the same stratocaster :)

  • I recommend putting a drop of oil on the bridge

saddles. I use 3 in one oil. also, whenever I change strings, I put a little bit of guitar grease in each slot

on the nut(I use a toothpick to apply it). this stops the strings from hanging up either at the bridge or the nut which is the main cause of staying in tune problems.

  • hey man i just got a strat made in mexico, and the strings dont want to stay in tune. did you have the same problem? wat should i do?

  • Mine has been OK so far. I use 10 gauge strings i have the 3 springs on the tremolo, i had an American strat that wouldn't stay in tune. Just a case of a good set up.

  • I'm thinking of getting a mexican strat as my first ever guitar as they are the cheapest fenders (about £250). Would you recommend them to someone like me who wants to learn a bit of everything? Or should i go for one of those £100 starter kits as my first?

  • Go for the Mexican strat, far better quality, a fat strat (like mine) is ideal. Very versatile and upgrade the pickups later, i recently put 57/62 in neck & middle and a American deluxe DH-1 humbucker in the bridge, sounds amazing!!! Will have to post a video soon you'll hear the difference from this video.

  • What's the difference between a fat strat and a normal strat?

  • A fat strat has a humbucker in the bridge, a normal strat has a single coil.

  • Nice sound and song ;-). Is that Orange good for Bluesrock, Blues, Rock ? Reverb sounds very nice :)

  • Perfect for blues/blues rock not so good for heavier stuff (Marshall sound) great amp and cheap i also have 30w version used on Floyd video.

  • what can you recomend for someone who wants to learn the blues?

  • Decent guitar I'd recommend a strat, nice bluesy sound. Practice blues scale all across fretboard. Start with easy licks and steal a few from blues Cd's as you progress, getting your own style is most difficult thing. I'm self taught but with a good teacher you'd progress faster, it's satisfying learning off your own back but frustrating too. Hope this helps, good luck.

  • I own a fender squier obey stratocaster i upgraded it with noiseless fender strat pickups (1954) and an angus young humbucker. i'm also going to buy a adt30 orange crush amp. I do know how to play guitar 5 years exp. now and i'm also self taught. mostly classical and books, chords. covers etc. but in order to obtain the lead sound i want i NEED! the blues. but im pretty ignorant when it comes to any sort of blues players. could you suggest any cd's so i can start of the right path? thank you!

  • Nice! OK, Anything by Stevie Ray Vaughn, BB King Gary Moore and Eric Clapton's blues stuff. That's all I've studied, David Gilmour of pink floyd is a good bet, most of his licks are straight blues, with him and BB King it's what notes you hit not how fast. Check out these players on youtube there's load's of videos of them, see what style you like best and download/buy their Cd's. Good luck.

  • nice job, i love this kinda music :), check out my texas flood video (i think im a pretty noob but anyway) !

  • That's actually some perty juicy playin' man.. that lag's drivin me mad though. Very Nice though.

  • Thanks! Think the lag is caused cause im in an 8meg broadband area. It sucks all my vid's are the same!

  • hey buddy im just getting a mexican made scalloped standard stratocaster and i need to ask how is the tone is it worth 400 bucks

  • No offense to fans, but in the $400ish price range if you're looking for a strat, try to find and play a G&L Tribute series. I like every G&L I've played better than the best vintage and custom shop Fenders I've played. They're just better guitars...made by a company Leo Fender died owning (and is still owned in part by his wife) instead of one that he sold in disgust at their business practices.

  • Yeah, but they're made in Korea.

  • it says right on the freakin title that its mexican made douche.

  • Hi douchebag, learn to use YouTube, my comment is in reply to the G&L Tribute series discussion. Protip: try "show all comments" and you get to see the discussion threads.

  • geez. take it easy.

  • Sorry, no problem, just got mad for a sec.

  • @diazcamille u r the one thats not taking easy. u called him douch first -_-
