I think you need to rant about how much Gundam 00 sucked. Also, this is the only original Gundam movie. All the other ones were based on their series counterparts. Well, there is G savior, but that's just terrible.
F91 could have been rather good if they just stuck with trying to get a full series out of it or even an OVA series.
As a movie it's flawed. It's like the first third is pretty much watchable and paced well enough, but the rest of the film is this mad race to cram all these plot points in there.
The editing and plotlessness is actually because this was suppose to be a full length series but Tomino got told they were going to make it into a movie. Thus is suffered horribly.
I like F91 and beyond for the technical standpoint. The mobile suit are several heads smaller then in the early Universal Century, but are just as and even more powerful. Also, Victory Gundam is a "good" bad gundam show to watch. It's so bad that even Tomino didn't want people to watch it.
Wow, way to nerd it up. Good summary, but I'm kinda missing the whole Star Wars connection. At least it seemed like it would've been more relevant from the way you were describing it at the beginning. Still, fun stuff.
haha this is awesome. i'm gonna watch this just to make fun of it. i think it rivals Plan 9 From Outer Space. i saw you at daisho con...and listened to the gundam panel you did. i'm fascinated with the gundam universe, but have only watched gundam wing.

Yeah I will, I love the themes that the gundam shows present, like passivism, war, relationships between comrades, politics, traditional fighting, honor, etc. It's fascinating. ^ ^
I've honestly never read Crossbone Gundam, but I hear its good. Unfrortuantely, I'm not reveiwing Crossbone Gundam, I'm reviewing F91 which doesn't feel like it holds up on its own. I just don't feel that making a good sequel to a bad movie, undoes the "badness" of the preceeding film.

Or how about the "image song" Eternal Wind which is playing while Cecily is drifting in space? This "review" is a disappointment Izumi, you can do better than this.

You see the problem with this logic is that the only defense I ever hear for this film is "what if," and never addresses the issues with the film's pacing or its overpopulated cast. "They might have continued it" doesn't really justify what they did make.

I really should have mentioned more of my thoughts on the mecha designs. I think the Crossbone suits are hard to tell apart.
As for Victory, I actually love that show.

Also the lack of plot was due to the fact.. F91 was supose to be a TV series not a Movie.
F91 is a great Gundam series.. Such a pity that u dont seem to enjoy it..
