Sorry jazzfan4evr.. you spent too much time thinking it was somewhere it wasn't. I am facing northeast .. these lights are in and above the mountains to the north of the university of utah. I know what plane lights look like. I wouldn't waste my time posting plane lights. These are orbs of some sort. Try watching the video closer.

I know where this video was taken from. The camera looks like it is on the east side of highland drive pointing northwest. Which by the way is the same direction as downtown Salt Lake City. The lights on this video are lights ontop of a building. A building that is cut off by the white buildings in the video.

Also in the distance is the flight path for incoming and out going flights from salt lake international airport. So I guess mystery is solved..

Candle baloons. Ive seen them many times when I was in Utah. The Airforce has been called when these things are sighted. They sometimes change colors from the deflection of light. They twinkle and flicker like stars from the candle inside.

Cool stuff, but I'm going to put my money on those being stars. The light is refracted pretty heavily due to the amount of atmosphere you're looking through (it's on the horizon) and probably air turbulence.

You get a tiny glimpse of the second star at 1:01. Then you can see both clearly at 1:38. I think they're coming in and out of view due to atmospheric refraction, which affects intensity (twinkle) and color (chromatic aberration, I think). You can't really argue that either light moves.

you have a clear picture of Venus, the object is NOT moving and is twinkling just like Venus on a clear night.

wow! i think this is the same one that i saw 2 years in the summer i dont remember the exact date though but it was shining on and off in different colors and would move really slow then it just disappeared after 2 hours

The lights were to the left of the University of Utah 'U' in the foothills.. at first they were just white and cruising around and then they went into the sky above and that is what you see in the video.

People at my work have seen these same lights in the same place as I filmed here months ago. I don't have a clear view in my new house. But, I still periodically catch something odd in the sky.

While looking up at the sky, I once noticed a very similar light. It was a star-like light, but this one was different. This star appeared to have a blinking red light attached to it and it seemed to have moved slightly. I stood there staring at it for a long time, but it didnt move or blink again. I'll never forget that moment and I highly doubt these are stars.

Good job pal! While I can't say that these are the same thing I witnessed, it is still certainly an interesting sighting. The flickering colours first made me think it was maybe emergency vehicles on mountain or something, but the colours vary to include orange, green and others. A shame about the focus, does the camera not have a manual focus? It's difficult to react to something like this when it happens, cameras can be fiddly!

The horrible camera focusing was my bad. I was freaking out when I saw these. This footage does not do any justice to what I could see with my own eyes. The lights were other worldly like. The illumination was like that of a star, but varying colors.

My first reaction upon seeing those lights was that they look like police lights. I thought maybe I could see some mountains in the distance, and I was going to ask you if there were, but then I looked at your other video and it answered my question for me. There is a mountain right where the lights are! I think what you are seeing are police cars.

Of course, I wasn't there, and your video is very blurry, but I think it's a likely explanation.
