You live in an organised mess just like us , cool by the way excellent job you did just clean the mixer a bit( literally clean I did it dust makes a lot of unneccesary noise )my old mackie mixer was giving me that sound I removed the knobs washed them dry them the rest was alchohol spray from maplin shop all over the mixer it came out new and it was more then 13 years old. there was no more noise after you turn the knobs just the tip
What audio interface are you using? I just moved from Vista To Mac and my current Behringer BCA2000 Audio Interface doesn't support macs... I need 4in/4out channels or more for my Mackie 1604-VLZ mixer.
where did you get these samples from? i must have them! also, probably a noob question...but how do i map them to my midi controller? i really wanna rock out to my own daft punk remix like this.
Sorry its late (2 months) but any midi controller of course can control VST instruments, ie; inserts in logic. You can use the built in sampler in logic (and strip silence / find transients etc) to grab out audio regions, or make them yourself in the sampler editor. Then its a short step to map the samples to midi and make them a kit in ultrabeat, or your own synth instrument, fully accessible via your midi controller (or caps lock keyboard).
Are those XENYX mixers any good? i Have a UB series mixer much like yours, and i get a lot of white noise when i boost the gain or volume higher than 0dB...
If that´s no problem withe XENYX series, then i´m getting one...
What would you recommend to interface MIDI and 16 track AUDIO with Logic 8 using a G5, 2.0 GH, dual processor using Leopard. It seems this is an area that few know little about. I have made quite a few post about this subject and still no responses to date. I am making great strides doing my own research, but still looking for input from Logic 8 users who are serious about their music in getting the most out of Logic 8.
DAMN! That was easily one of the coolest things I have ever seen!
Props, man.
How do you like your microKorg? I've been fascinated by them for a long time and I hear they're a good first synth. I have an MPK49, but I would like to pick up a synth as well.
another synth you shouldn't overlook is the alesis micron. it's about the same price as the microkorg but IMHO I'd say it's a good bit deeper and i like the vocoder more too.
i have had both... i personally think the microkorg is better as a synth, while the micron is better as a keyboard with synth samples on it... i find the korg better in order to do your own patches (isnt synths all about that?) but the micron has some nice memory patches although i found it was a pain in the ass to do my own sounds, or experiment while live... my personal favorite in that league is the korg r3...
woooooooooooooooooooooow!!!! VERY VERY VERY well done!!! Perfectly re-did the live version! This is BRILLIANT! Is there any relationship to the midis and synths you were using to Daft Punks?
LOVE IT is the micro korg and the emx just a simple midi in and out and you sampled the "around the world" on the emx then sending it to the micro korg can you youse your mixer as a control surface in anyway?

But what´s your take on them?
MikeeDustBunny 2 years ago
I find it a bit noisy at times. It's fairly easy to distort stuff with it as well.
I got it because it was a decent price and had twelve channels. It's done me proud so far, you just have to take care with your levelling.
xx
sheps145 2 years ago
Thanks. :-)
And what about sound quality on low levels?
Is it warmer than the UB series?
You know, because of the "Neo Classic British EQ"
MikeeDustBunny 2 years ago
@sheps145 Is that because of the mixer or the monitors? It would seem to me that the distortion is happening further down the chain.

The keyboard is MIDI linked to a sampler in Logic 8.
Hope that answers your question

DjScratchBattery 3 years ago
Well, yes and no. They have Minimoog Voyagers doing a lot of the synth sounds you hear on the live album.
They do it in a similar sort of way though, the Voyagers are sequenced via MIDI from Ableton Live.
They have a bit more money than me though.

sambland123 3 years ago
It's all run from Logic, got a MIDI out from my laptop running a time code.
The EM-1 picks up on the time code and runs its sequence in time with Logic.
The microKorg just triggers samples in Logic...
The mixer is just to bring channels in and out whenever.
