mikehawkismydad -i had my surgery nearly twelve months ago i now feel confident doing all activites and sports again but only now. DO NOT RUSH IT. your knee may feel good after a month but it is not strong enough to be fully recovered keep building the muscles around the knee for at least another five month before you think about having a kick about. linea sport like riding you bike is great. but really listen and work closely with your physiotherapist. It is worth it!!
hi i had my acl surgery done for about a month now and i can bend it all the way back. Ive also been able to ride my bike and job, and it feels like new again. How much longer do u think i need to recover?
Hi, I had ACL and LCL and part of my kneecap all reconstructed in May 2010, and I really really need to do some exercises! I haven't done nearly enough, I know there aren't excuse but i'm in my final year at Uni and feel I have had so much on and neglected them! But I really really need to sort it out! Has anyone else not done enough, then started doing loads, and then been ok? I'm really worried that because it's been a while since my surgery, even if I start doing therapy, it'll be too late?!
@charlottepringle123 the first thing the physio would say is telling you to get back to exercise straight away one or two weeks after surgery, a lot of hamstring and quads work, as well as proprioceptive exercise, so yea you should go back to it, but start with all the balancing work on wobble board first , when you feel comfortable with it, progress to some jogging, then start jumping if you feel comfortable, but dont rush too quickly onto weights exercise yet, especially open chained exercise
yeah, I already had the surgery, and my range of motion was pretty good, but then I rushed back into basketball which has cause some problems b/c of all the impact. I have a tiny bit of fluid in the knee, but that's due to it being weak and unconditioned...hopefully with time it will go away, otherwise I will have to take some more time away from basketball. but I still use the bike and that seems to help. good luck with your leg!!!
this is not rehab , rehab is what you do after the sruergt ... No fucking way could you jump on a recently , reonstructed ACL like that unless youve dosed up on morphine or something ... also if you could jump around like this then you are fine and you possibly dont need any more rehab , this video is very misleading , best case scenario this looks like it is about 8-10 months after surgery couldnt even walk without pain 4 weeks after surgery
@tanveerroowala these are the exercises I do for my rehab all I have is a small strain I agree with you though no way you could do this after surgery at all
@tanveerroowala its rehab back to sports, not rehab after surgery. u have to retrain the body using the knee in dynamic ways so that when u do return to sport ur co-ordination is prepared. the mind has to b prepared to trust the graft also
I have been told by my doctor to do knee Strengthening and work on range of motion.I have a meniscus tear and she still wants me to move it around.I must say that I do not bend my knee when walking because I do not know if the small tear will get bigger.
@2mariebl ROM is the most important thing, and extension (straight leg) is probably more important than flexion (bent knee) b/c the extension stabilizes the knee. I had surgery for a meniscus tear about 2 months ago and riding the bike is the best rehab tool u can use to regain your Range Of Motion.
Thank you so much I just noticed that I left the comment on this video a year ago, I thought it was a comment left on a recent video.I had Microfracture surgery in May of this year and stil can't bend my right knee and now I have arthritis. I have not been to the gym since four days before my surgery.I did PT. Can you go to my channel page and check out the things that were done on my knee and tell me what you think. I miss exercising.
@2mariebl I had a partial MCL tear earlier this year in my left knee, and messed up the meniscus in my right knee 2 months ago. Left knee is working fine now, but I'm in the middle of a basketball season and rushed back to practice. I came back about 5 weeks after surgery and now I can't bend my knee all the way. I've been doing a lot of bike work, a good way to get back ROM is to lower the seat every couple of minutes on a stationary bike. That way you force ur knee to bend more while it's
.......moving. A lot of single leg balancing work, and a lot of hamstring stretching/strengthing exercises. Wall-sits while squeezing a ball between ur legs, supersetting w/ some bridge work is some good basic strengthening stuff using ur own body weight. Lunges, side lunges, leg extensions (light weight), leg curls, etc. Keeping ur hips and glutes strong/mobile is also important. Hope this helps.
I know that you are so happy that your left knee is doing the things that you want it to do I am happy for you. So I will go back to the gym the Monday after the New year and ride the bike and lower the seat every so often like you said. Are you going to have surgery on your meniscus?

This is cool, however is this after her surgery or is this without surgery? Her condition seems pretty good.
