  • omg u gotta make more videos they are really awesome

  • Besides, polar bears are ruthless man hunters and eaters which rip apart cutsie wootsie seal pups, not charming fellows in hats.

    ;)

  • @dissinitbig , In the whole of the twentieth century there have only been 3 polar bear killings, 1st, people throwing stones at one,2nd, someone trying to fuck one and third i can't remember.....just saying.

  • a) because not many people go to the north pole

    b) because they are known to stalk people, anyone that does go to the north pole carries a rifle.

Oh, and 8 people have been killed in canada alone in the past 30 years...so double check your facts.

  • damn hats...

  • i made up a little song.

    polar bears, no more

ive only ever seen them at the zoo

    so i dont really care

maybe if i could eat you then i would.

  • It was warmner in the middle ages than it is now.

We're still a long way from knowing how much we contribute to climate change, despite the media doomsday cries.

In fact, the first half of the video demonstrates my point perfectly.

Recycling anything other than tin cans actually increses your "carbon fooprint" but it appears green and satisfies peoples need to "make a difference" so they keep doing it.

If you really want to make a difference, donate. People are dieing of starvation.

  • I agree that the causes are unknown at this stage, but the consequences are clear, so perhaps we should act now anyway?

As for the recycling comment, looking after our planet is a bigger question than just CO2 emission - consider the destructive nature of metal mining or the increased amount of ancient woodland being cut down and replaced with fast-growing trees for paper (not to mention the limited oil reserves for plastic) and the impact of landfill sites and you see other reasons to recycle.

  • But, the consequences aren't clear, it could very easily be part of a cycle, since it has come and gone before.

Do agree somewhat with the recycling business, but isn't planting fast growing trees a far better option than just using actual forest? But in general yes, it's just ironic that people telling me to turn off my light for an extra 5 mins a day are also telling me to carry out in an activity which completely negates any effect (however negligible) it might have had.

  • It may be a cycle, but it is a cycle which looks set to include the loss of a huge amount of land, millions of human lives and countless species of plant and animal. You might be right though - if it is a natural process, perhaps we should stop taking the short-term selfish view and let it happen. Interesting idea.

Personally I reckon that until we know which it is, we should do what we can to slow it, just in case it turns out it is our fault and by then is too late to reverse it.

  • Not that much land respectively, even in the worst case scenarios. How exactly are millions of people going to die? Besides, millions of people ARE(havebeen) dying in africa, but I don't see all the hype with that as with an outside possible threat of climate change, I guess it's just old news...

I'm all for alternative energy sources, but the ferverence and jumping on the bandwagon rather than looking at cold hard facts is somewhat frustrating.

  • As for the trees (comment boxes are too short!), you are right that using fast-growing trees is better than using regular ones, but surely it is better still to use less trees of any type as the impact of constant deforestation is immense - destruction of eco-systems, lots of plants killed, animals displaced or killed, top soil erosion so on.

Also, I'm not not sure that recycling paper actually is more harmful, even just in CO2 terms, than using virgin pulp every time. Any references for that?

  • Consider this. To recycle that paper, trucks have to go round and collect it, using more fuel than needed to initially deliver it. Then it goes to a plant were it has to undergo various processes etc

Ever wonder why recycled paper costs so much more than "new" paper?

Wikipedia covers it. Even though electricity is saved on some parts it "may actually consume more fossil fuels", depending on how many factors you look at.

So it's not clear cut, but it IS wiki...

  • OK, how about the production of the fertilisers and pesticides (which have other harmful effects, of course), the tractors or whatever spreads them, the machinery required to fell the trees, the lorries to transport them to lumber yards and then on to pulping and paper production. That's a lot of fuel burning too. Plus you have the fuel involved in maintaining landfill sites assuming we don't recycle that paper after we're done, of course.

Not an easy calculation to work out which is worse!

  • Ha, that was in my reply originally, but I needed extra space. But I assume at least transport fuel would be taken into account.

Yes, it's not easy to work out in the slightest. But it hardly seems worth it, especially since it's more expensive, usually worse quality and any pollution reduction (if at all) doesn't seem significant.

  • "Hide the Decline"

  • bear

  • Definitely the hats.

  • I just feel bad every time i fart gass's into the sky lol,

  • farting? dude, every breath you take is killin' those icecaps, we cant stop it completely (barring some kind of sci-fi- like invention) but we sure as hell can slow this, if we try, so lets go and torch some more power staio- ... oh crap. XD

  • that's it I'm throwing all my hats away

  • lol that was so good

  • Hats

  • The video would have made the point better if it ended with the polar bears still arguing their petty points -- without the reference to humans.

  • wasn;t the fact that it makes us feel ashamed for allowing the polar bears into this state the point, but maybe your right, maybe a creaer point would have been made, well not clearer but more effective

  • lol x why do they have australian voices?

  • i was just thinking that very same thing... strange...

  • i hope im nt killing our planet. =[

  • There are so many issues here.Palm oil, petroleum, markets , jobs and a planet that has always changed our landscape.

  • Excellent video.

  • ps... this video isn't very compelling or clear, I think FoE could have done much better in communicating the issue

  • hmm maybe its the humans

    no no no nooo

    lol

  • Poor video

  • Aussie Polar bears.....Comedy!!

  • i can see were this is going , keep dancing peeps your all funding the rich corporations that don't give a damn about the climate , but if you want to be a sap and pay taxes to to them , by all means , just know this CO2 is good for plants , and you want us to sign a petition to stop co2 , that like saying stop breathing , lol

  • Why the fuck are they austrailan?

  • naahh you no wat i think its the penguins. got to be. dirty smartly dressed basterd.

  • well done! Deffinatley going in my favorites! and 5/5

  • Well those furry fuckers will be fine as their numbers have risen dramatically since the 50s. Stop the lie that is anthropogenic global warming. The sun is changing our climate as it has done for many, many years. The whole idea of man-made global warming is to be used as a means of taxing the public and forcing us to rely on the state for salvation. One question; Are cars and power stations causing warming on other planets in our solar system? It must be Co2 there as well? wake up!

  • Your a bit stupid aren't you?

Have you any idea of science? Then you would know that since recording began solar influences on earth would have actually caused a cooling effect on earth, not warming. Type into goodle "IPCC fourth assesment report" and you will see for yourself. Or you don't trust the IPCC either?!?!

  • Well that would explain the cooling period we're in now. I do not trust anything the UN puts out. The IPCC has a political agenda, they don't care about the environment. It is you that is stupid you condescending prick. Stop believing the propaganda, think for yourself. Is it Co2 that is changing the climate of other planets in our solar system?

  • "Ahhh i must be the hats.... Must be the hats"

  • lol, we watched this in class

  • rice video!!

    keep it real =D

  • dumb dumb! you are funny mate. Just go back to bed.

  • Your utterly stupid if you really belive there is not such thing as global warming. Every scientist in the world agrees there is, they just don't agree on whats causing it.

  • Agreed. Its true that not all scientist agree, its a myth that they all do.

  • @1my2username3sux4lol you shouldn't call someone utterly stupid if you don't know the difference between your and you're.

  • @bitesizeme Theres a different beetween stupidity and dyslexia. Which happens to be what I have, however I still have a brain and I am not stupid.

  • So get your facts straight before shooting your mouth of in public places. Humans are causing global warming the evidence stacks up. By not beliving that you are ruining our planet for furture generations, I bet your not in the genaration that will suffer but I am so why don't you face up to the truth as inconvienient as it might be to you and just do something to reduce your carbon footprint.

  • its people like you doing nothing to try and at least slow global warming if not stop it that are ruining every effort we make. EVERYONE needs to be a part of stoping climate change not just a majority becasue if not then those people that ignore the scientific eviendence that is screaming at them in black and white will ruin it for everyone.

  • Think about it, even if you don't have children yet when you do you will want them to have a good life. Mabey you will want to teach them how to drive one day, well unless you stop driving so MUCH now then they wont get the oppurtunity to drive at all. They will live in a world in constat threat everywhere of natrual disaster, they will be happening every day. This is going to affect the poorest of our world first. Stop being so selfish.

  • It's because people arew having too many babies in the first place that's causing this exponential population growth, that's leading to all the worlds problems. Will it change? Not a chance. Although China have got the idea. Restricting couples to 1 child is the only way to reduce the problems. Whether you like it or not, the China policy is correct.

  • Interesting point, but over-consumption (most of which is in developed countries) is behind many of the world's problems. Its true that the planet can support a limited number of people, but this depends on how much we all consume. I doubt the average large family's emissions in Burkina Faso compares to even one person on an average wage in the US. Its true to say that contraception and empowering women in developing countries would help, but the catholic church are a barrier thus far.

  • How one measures an acceptable standard of living is an academic one. What we can say is, every person is a slave carrier to DNA and thus will carry out the act of sex in order to procreate and, are rewarded for doing so with the feelings of love and copulation. People don't do foresight. Their offspring is all that matters. Trouble is, their offspring require resources for a lifetime, while churning out another load of parasites. Welcome to evolution or, as some may say 'Gods' fucked up mess!

  • good message

  • Before climate change affects where i live i willl be long dead so too bad bear

  • lol "it must be the hats"!!

    we won't kill ourselves only!

  • Nice.
