I remember back then, in the cinema, when I first saw this trailer. When I heard the superman theme at the beginning, I had goosebumps. But the best was still to come: the most epic monologue of all time. I was so hyped for this movie. Yet it felt like an okay movie. Not as bad as the critics said. Brandon Routh was a good Kent (awkward young men from Kensas) and an inspiring Sups (remember the plane scene in the baseball stadium?) Hopefully Snyder's rendition of Sups' adventure will kick ass.
There are tons of hinted parallels between superman and Jesus in this movie "...for he loved the world so much that he send it his only son..." "The light to show mankind the way". when Super and Lois are too high for her to hear the city sounds but he can hear every thing. "-You say the world doesn't need a savior, but everyday I hear people praying for one" Superman is kinda the Jesus of DC universe.
@EricBrown007 EXACTLY. Brilliance. I was wondering if I had been the only one to see such similarities, such parallels as you call them. I, for one, am a huge Batman fan; I have studied him and written, sketched, and planned storylines for him. Yet, I still to this day admit that Superman has the potential of becoming an equal to Batman in the greatest comic book story ever told. Either that, or Superman can be more.
Its too bad some of this movie was fucking awesome and some was terrible. It was way too long and the sets were ugly as hell for some reason. Like when Lex and Superman are fighting on the Kryptonite island, I almost couldn't watch that because it the sets were so hideously ugly. And all the buildings in Metropolis were ugly too. I also never understood why all the clothes and buildings look like they're from the 1940s but it's set in the present and some people have cell phones.
I was surprised that of all the people I was sitting with when I saw this trailer, no one saw the Jesus parallel. I mean its heavy handed enough to knock you out cold.
@izdotcarter yeah me too, I had to explain and break that down for my friends. The light to show them the way.
"...For he loved the world so much that he send it his only son". I haven't read the new testament of the bibile but my friends who have could not pick it up. Actually there are references throughout the entire movie that hint at the parallels: when him and Lois are too high for her to hear anything but he can. "-Do you hear that? -No. -I can hear everything..."
@danmets44 - Dude, omg yes. Especially the stuff Jor-el was telling him.
"they can be a great people kal-el they wish to be, they only lack the light to show them the way, for this reason above all, I have sent them you, my only son"
Fantastic. I take back averything I said before. It's a good movie. I was only dissapointed with two of the charecters in the movie ..lex and lane. Can't wait for the next one!! this film is deep
get a life, nothing to do with religion its a film. rise above it if you have to. me? i think its an awsome trailor and i know its nothing more than a film pps. at least superman would do more good than any god
Does Anyone Know What I Would Type In The LimeWire Search In Order To Find The Audio Version Of The Youre Not One Of Them Speach Or What Trailer This IS From? Does Anyone Know Where I Can Get This Besides LimWire????
you know nothing of allegorical tales. i bet you think that The Matrix was just about tight sex latex on Carrie Anne-Moss and Bullets. you are quite the young one.

omg ... "i will snt them u my only son.." Wtf! Ja'rel is not God. and super man isnt Jesus!! Man., y would the producers would even think of doing tht in the trailer.
I agree with prussian THIS is what the Superman movie was all about and at the very least it is a great tribute to the spirit of the first two movies and the original comic book creators vision of what superman stood for wich is mankinds "capacity for good" above all else.

I first heard this in the Tiger Woods Signature Shots video.
Thought it was from Jesus of Nazarath.

Superman is the Modern Jesus Christ, but only in parallels in the Mythos of the two and not within the contrues of a Religion.
It's like Alsan from Narnia.
