if youre not playing any games you should definetli trye it, i got myself a new laptop for school and windows 7 was kinda slow in it so i tested ubuntu for the first time in it and its awesome.
voglio vedere quando inserite lo spinotto di un nuovo hardware se è cosi veloce a riconoscerlo, a me ci volevano mesi per configurare gli hardware, non c'è paragone, windows è superiore
Yes, it would be dull. But, if there was something like compiz on windows, i'm pretty sure it would take a lot more of machine power for it not to freeze.
My laptop does Dual Boot. If you do something wrong you can really mess it up very easily. I found that it's a lot easier to have Windows installed first, Windows has a hobby of doing what it thinks is best. Kubuntu is good enough to have a partitioning option, you can resize how much HDD space you want on both OS', the RAM doesn't change, if you have 2GB RAM on Windows you'll have 2GB RAM on Kubuntu, so speed will not decrease, just the amount of Hard Drive space will.
do your research, and i mean actually do it, this isn't a school project we are talking about its your stuff. and it can all go up in a puff of digital smoke if you dont do it right.
sorry if that sounded harsh, just thought i would help someone out since i learned the hard way.
and when dual booting, you choose which operating system you want to start up in. and it is risky, thats why i said do your research
i would by a linux but im guna stick with vista because of linux's lack of computer games soon as it gets more popular or i out grow gaming im totaly buying one
you dont have to buy linux... its free, you can even have linux and vista on the same machine. go to ubuntu's website and look for "documentation" then search for "dual boot"
Well, raptored01 said it just down below, but seeing as how I find this to be a very nice reggae piece, I'll tell you.
This song is "Here Comes the Hotstepper" by Ini Kamoze. It was a number 1 hit single in the US for a few weeks back in the mid 90s, which IMO seems uncommon for reggae.
anyone who isn't a dumbass just dual-boots.

I'm a gamer. Linux is too much of a pain in my ass for games. Too much hassle. Neat desktop features though.

:D Really AWESOME but won't that slow down my computer... To operating systems sounds brutal on one machine
KooKooCow 3 years ago
No, it just takes up hard drive space. ( at least 4gb for ubuntu, it's pretty small)
