• I love this scene, it works with the series so well, it's just so brutal to watch.

  • gettin for a duel between men an honourable duel with an honourable end he was beaten by a fighter whos abilities were superior to his own

  • best fight scene iever saw, sickening but at the same time you cannot take your eyes of it

  • Great scene. I couldn't believe Dan won that fight. I was blown away that episode. It was really cool to see Deadwood really take a piece out of Heart with this fight. They were going blow-fow-blow every show, I wish Al would have knifed him in the conclusion to the 3rd. Then Bullock and the gang would have had to try to save the town.

I wish they had made a season 4 of this. It's such a good show!! WTF HBO?

  • Fight seemed over after the captain bit him, after that it was only survival for Dan.

  • So what was he smearing on him?

  • @Jewmaine87 some type of grease to make it harder for someone to get a grip

  • @Jewmaine87 some type of grease to make it harder for someone to get a grip or maybe to get a edge to be able to slip out of a bear hug or other type of hold

  • I guess I'm hirin'. Need a job Dan?

  • Highlight of the series for me. Dan just represented American pride, imho. Even though the Captain and Hurst are not foreign, they're motives and conduct was that of a foreign evil. If Dan would've lost i would have lost all hope in humanity, lol.

  • @gasparilla13 Nope capitalism is an American disease that infected the rest of the world after they went into WW2 for selfish reasons, killed millions of Japanese citizens and won the Cold War, for better or for worse but it was really a question of who was the lesser evil..;and today everyone accepts it as part of the normal course of life.

  • @Regenmacher175 If anything, Hearst represents unbridled capitalist ambition in this rather than Dan. All gasparilla13 was mentioning was American pride, which is that city on a hill viewpoint that has survived the years whether valid or not. It is completely aside from capitalism, as capitalism is a form of government practiced by many foreign governments as well, that do not have the same uncompromising and sometimes misguided pride as Americans (me, speaking as one).

  • @Regenmacher175 I am sure many intelligent people would admit that capitalism (or the less stratified egalitarianism) isn't the best form of government, but it is the type of government that has thrived with the least cost to liberty despite the inherent greed it generates. 'Communism' is a great theory that usually ends up devolving into a dictatorship or a Totalitarian or Authoritarian government. Power always ends up in one person's hands, and they abuse it.

But, back to the fucking fight.

  • the guy who plays Captain Turner was a stuntman...who the hell does a guy that size stand in to do stunts for?

  • i could be wrong, but i dont really see people saying fuck that much back then

  • @williamrafe1 You have to take into consideration that the vast majority of sources from this period are written, and people tend to use profanity far less in writing. Additionally, this show isn't about all people back then, nor is it about the vast majority of people back then, but rather a particular group of people in a particularly rough town. With all of those factors combined, it seems reasonable to me that profanities would have been common in a place like Deadwood.

  • @Fischereco2 after i wrote this, i read the wiki page about deadwood, and it said that the creator thought using profanities of today would make more sense to the viewers, since the profanities of those days were steriotypical yosemity sam dialogue

  • @williamrafe1 That's true. "Fuck" didn't come into common parlance until after WW2 (the soldiers of that war used it a lot and when they came home they kept using it). When I was a kid reading about the west I learned that it was also fairly common for guys out west in those lawless towns to have one eye. So, if this show were based in reality, a few of those guys coming and going would have eye patches. People also did not have accents (southern, cowboy or otherwise) in those days.

  • 6:50 = thumbs down from Ceasar

  • Of course if I was Dan I would have just shot the cunt.

    Brains beats brawn every time.

  • What the hell is Dan smearing all over himself and why?

  • @SnuffVideos Looks like some sort of vasalin type goo. So its harder for the other guy to grab him, or to help the blows glance off.

  • How the fuck did he pop that eye?

  • @saltifish Dan used a finger to rip it out of the socket. Looked like he dug in around the tear duct.

  • this is the most realistic fight ever, i've had a few fights in my time and man they were just like this, you get tired, punching someone hurts alot! During this scene you're always frightened for dan, he's the henchmen with a heart of gold.

  • hey who's the captains boss? whats the guys name?

  • @GamerGuy31989 Captain Joe Turner..a personal bodyguard for Mr. George Hearst

  • I was fearing for Dan on this one. Didn't think he would pull it off.

  • I swear this is one of the most realistic fights I've ever seen...I don't know what else to say but HBO is fantastic at making scenes like this happen. Ralph vs. Tony in Sopranos was another fantastic fight scene.

It's a shame Deadwood was canceled. But at least they gave us three great seasons and numerous highs in their run, this being one of them.

  • Why the fuck of all the things on the internet can't i find this fucking serious....well...answer me cocksuckers!

  • Comment removed

  • those gloves the captain was wearing seemed to be an advantage over dan's bare hands ... up until the eye gouge that is.

  • ...up until the eye gouge, that is.

  • ahhhhhhhh his eye!

    jesus christ

    how would that feel?

  • FUCKIN awesome!

  • The Captain just looks old and fat. To be honest I have a hard time believing Dan or many others would be scared of him at all. Not without a gun or a knife in his hand anyway.

  • Yea i agree in real life Dan would probably win that quite easily

  • You either know a whole lot, or absolutely nothing about fighting.

  • I wouldn't claim to be an expert. It just seems to me that Dan would win - being almost as big, as well as younger and, while not exactly slim is fitter than The Captain.

  • Let me elucidate you guys. Fighting has nothing to do with physique. The outcome of a fight is determined by fight training(experience), the size of a man's heart and how far he is willing to take it(how mean he is). If you are willing to bite someones nose off or take an eye out, it makes you a formidable fighter. I have won fights I should have lost but I refuse to lose even if it means stabbing someone with an inkpen if it isnt going my way. There is no fair in fight.

  • Thing is, you're asking us to take your word for all this. I have no reason to believe you.

  • Thing is, I am not asking you to believe me. Secondly, you also have no reason not to believe me. It always amuses me when people on you tube are in disbelief of everyday occurences. Yes people-most folks are average but some are moviestars, some are rich, some have big dicks, some dated supermodels and yes believe it or not some are good fighters. Believe what you want but my point is the meanest dog wins the fight. (seen 140lb guy kick shit out of 2650lb bodybuilder)

  • What you're doing is asking us to accept your opinion without our knowing what expertise you really have. That expertise is everything.

  • For Christ's sake, some things are taken on face value. It is self evident that the guy that is willing to go furthest in a fight will win. For example, lets say you are a better fiter than me but I club you over the fucking head with a rock in a sock until your face is caved in, Who wins?

  • that's right.

a man wins if he is willing to-

or just if he is cold blooded enough...

    excuse the bad english.

    :-)

  • The only thing you've ever fought is the urge to pass out after you've jerked off to seasame street videos for 72 hours straight

  • First off my son is the one who favorited Sesame street. Secondly I have indeed jerked off to the black chick on Sesame Street in the 80's(KAren?). She was hot. Thirdly, I was a boxer for team Georgia in my prime so easy with the allegations that I can't fight.

  • I see. You can fight... just not for your own dignity

    lol

  • Bodybuilding etc... aside the eye ripping thing is historically accurate. There was a form of fighting in the frontier days called rough and tumble. It was mainly ripping biting and gouging. It used to be a form of prize fighting.

  • aside from the eye ripping ?

    listen kid.....

the fights back before the turn of the 19th century were as bad or worse than that.....they used to have boxing matches where everything goes and they lasted sometimes 70 rounds....until death with eyes popped out and genitals mutilated and the such...you better read up on your history you have no clue...

  • @Joelbjj Mate if i was fighting you for my life in 2010, I would bite scratch claw and gouge, grab your balls, bite your face, Anything to kill you before you killed me.

Of course Dan only wins this because Hearst told Joe Turner to play with him to send a message to anyone else who fancied their chances.

  • @TheExposeTube True, but I didn't really see any way to kill him quickly, did you? I mean, just how quickly can you kill someone with your bare hands anyway?

  • @TheExposeTube I don't think thats true. The Captain doesn't really get the upper hand at any point in the fight where Dan didn't turn it around.

  • meant to write captain Turner looks like Andy Reid

  • I am a huge deadwood fan and have never seen season 3. Who is the Captain and what kind of beef did he have with Dan and Al Swearengen? Is he some kind of boxer, street tough or ex-military guy?

  • Haha,i live in philly, captain Dan looks just like Andy Reid, eerie.

  • This scene is terrific ! and directed like a Dwiss watch. I regret Deadwood ends at Season 3

  • Yeah Dan really takes him down a peg with that one!! So realistic a fight, I hate these Hollywood glamourfests where people violently fight for their lives for 3 mins and are still going. This is a real fight, normal people are knackered, dizzy, and out of breath after the first few bearknuckle punches.

  • @savethequiche every brawl i have ever been never involed someone doing a flying back spin tripple decker BLT kick, your right this was a real drag out knuckle up eye popping brawl.

  • @GrundySolomon blt kick lol bacon lettuce and tomato

  • @megasopeda611 its not dangerous with out the bacon, thats what makes it a BLT kick

  • @savethequiche

    Glamourfest looks less painful.

  • wow the noises he makes when it gets pulled out are fucked

  • i would not fuck with dan

  • Wow that guy was getting his ass kicked... until he pulled out that other guys eye.

  • The best fight !

Where can I watch the whole third season?

  • ouch shit he ripped his eye out and left it dangling

  • Dan! The Man! Deadwood heavyweight Champion!

So, now someone get that sh** off the road.

  • W. Earl Brown as Dan Dority in Deadwood. HBO's greatest sin is their loss of this show. Shame on them. Ten seasons wouldn't have been enough of the best written show on tv.

  • Just another day in the neighborhood.

  • dan is mary's retard brother in somethng about mary

  • I'm a big a fan as any and I love 'em all but in the end Dan, Trixie and Charlie Utter are the only three not willing to give an inch. God bless 'em for it!

  • they beat the brakes off of each other, but Dan came off in this one! I like how Swearenger's goons have each other's back!

"if it's gettin' to go wrong, Dan,you just drop down flat....and i'll blow his phukkin' head off!" classic!

  • one hell of a classic fight from two beast deadwood rules

  • holy christ he pulled his eye out.

  • if only dan had torn hearst's eyball out... that would have been monumental.

  • I can't believe Dan is Mary's brother Warren from There's something about Mary. Franks and beans!

  • Best fight scene ever. <3 Dority

  • "Its past me. I cannot figure the f uckin' angle. Go ahead and f uckin' fight him." Love that part!

  • is this series available on dvd i just found out about deadwood thanks

  • yep all three seasons are there for yer buyin pleasure...

  • R00FLES

  • well, that's a fight ender...

  • Damn.

  • one of the best scenes from deadwood. the scream from that guy is classic.

  • This is practically the most gruesome thing I have ever seen.

  • I've done that a few times

  • It is rather grim isn't it? having said that if somebody was smashing my head against some bricks, i would do the same thing.
