Does keening has an infinite charge that can drain health, stamina, and magicka a hit?

Because I hit an orc one good time with it and it says its out of charge...

Ppl keep telling its infinite like a silver sword or Lucky Dagger but I'm not so sure....

Maybe my Keening has a bug? or the special effect is just stupid?

@TJD005 The enchantment doesn't work, because Keening has a maximum charge of zero. Next time you have a TES-related question, just check UESPwiki.

just to say for the curious cuz there are alot of misconceptions out there bout the dwarven disappearence here is the logistics of how they disappeared

keening and the heart were used together to turn the dwarves into a sppectral form, in such a way that they transcended to gods, read all the volumes of dwarves and follow the keening questline

Buggiest quest I have ever played in a video game, ever. The heat spell for the convectors won't work even after 10 tries and clearing system cache on my 360. I still get the message "Place the 'warpred' soul gem into a final Convector", nice to know the dipshits who programmed this quest couldn't even pass grade 6 English as well as being too stupid to playtest their games before relasing this bug-ridden garbage. Fuck you Bethesda, I want my money back.

For those asking about how to recharge it, it is currently bugged. It has a max charge of zero, which means it can't use its abilities and can never be charged. The only way to fix it is to either wait for a patch, or download a mod on the PC version.

@Zer0Torrent It's actually NOT bugged. @KingTornadoMaster illustrates a very good point as to why it has zero charge. Keening was powered by the Heart of Lorkhan in Morrowind. Since the heart was destroyed, Keening has nothing to draw its power from anymore and therefore is only useful as a trinket.

@SlipperehPuppeh My guess is because Sunder and Keening's power (also referred to as the "tools") were bound to the Heart of Lorkhan (similar to the Tribunal's immortality bound by the heart). Since the heart was destroyed, Sunder and Keening have slowly lost their power over time. Eventually, after the centuries passed, the tools' legendary power diminished and become not much more than mere enchanted weapons with virtually no sign of the mastery of Kagrenac.

@787vincent yeah, i remember using it in morrowind with sunder in the main quest (im actually playing morrowind again right now because in about a month im getting a ps3 to play skyrim because my pc cant handle skyrim) but u said tht it cant be recharged with soul gems in skyrim so how would u do so. if u dont how no worries. im just curious. also i do think tht your walkthrough is better than many others by the way. ;D

@787vincent Keening, Sunder, and Wraithguard were the tools used by the Nerevarine of Morrowind, in the Elder Scrolls III, to defeat Dagoth Ur and save Vvardenfell. In Morrowind, the character couldn't wield Keening or Sunder without wearing Wraithguard without suffering massive damage. As for the soul recharging, Keening draws its power from the Heart of Lorkhan, which was destroyed by the Nerevarine. Therefore, its power is limited to whatever was in it before the Heart was destroyed.

@787vincent In Morrowind, the third TES game, you use the dwemer artifacts Sunder (a hammer) and Keening to destroy the heart of a god (Lorkhan), with which the game's antagonist (Dagoth Ur) is trying to build a god to drive the imperials from morrowind. As the player, you get to keep the tools afterwards and use them if you like, but they can only be wielded if you use the dwemer gauntlet (Wraithguard), otherwise using the tools would render the player dead on contact. @787vincent in elder scrolls 3 morrowind, you destroy the heart of lorkhan with keening and its hammer counterpart. i may be wrong but i think the heart is where they got there power from and since it was destroyed they are now useless.

@LeoprdGckosHaveSpots it may be an item like the daedric weapon ebony blade of which also cannot be recharged but the enchantment still works.
