Okay, I need help. January 10, 2011 would make a year since my last relaxer. My mom and I agreed to have my permed ends chopped off at the 1 1/2 to 2 year mark, but I am really struggling with transition styles. I wear a lot of buns to school because that is the only thing I really know how to do. What is the best transition style for an inexperienced 14 year old to do on her hair? I have medium length hair with a mixed texture, can someone offer me some tips?

Flat twists! They lie flat on the scalp like cornrows but they're twists; they're easy to keep up (sleep with a scarf on) and you can wear them for at least a week or two. When you get tired of them, just untwist from the scalp & wha-la your hair will have this spiral curly thing going. It's really cute.

I would also recommend silk presses if you want to wear your hair straight from time to time. Hope that helps & Happy Nappy B-Day! LOL. My curls are about to celebrate their b-day too!

Oh yeah, be careful with wearing tight buns; they can cause your hair to thin out in the front. Try the spin pin by Goody's when doing a bun; I think they sell them at like Wal-Mart/Target etc....

@missculinary Thanks a lot, unfortunately part of my hair has already broken off, but my mom bought the aphogee products and it has already strengthened my hair back and my hair has already started growing again. I'm hoping by summer, I can wear braid outs and bantu knot outs...Fingers crossed!

Sergellyne1- well nothing really makes the hair grow faster. but your diet and health can play a big roll in that too. braids for me never helped my hair to grow so that wouldn't be my advice. give your hair a rest from all the tension. you can try biotin pills but to me i find that the rest of the hair on my body grows faster than the hair on my head. lol. but be patient and your hair will grow

how did you discover these creations? was it thru trial and error? the more you braid and twist etc does the process become faster? the only thing that puts me off is the time you have to put aside and invest in creating nice hairdos especially for someone like myself who is not that naturally creative. keep going post more vids as you are an inspiration :)
