  • only time before duffy does a cover version !! great sound and spin yourself through the dance floor !

  • brill best ever nipper keno pete lawson no longer with us great days at casino

  • Top tune. Good pace and plenty of breaks in there for the dancers to fit a spin or two into. Just the intro is enough to make your feet move, then when it comes into the main rift, goosebumps galore.

  • Spine Tingler Fantastic KTF

  • I remembe being stood in the dark and moody Wigan Casino and hearing this about 1978/79 - That build up man!!!! Like others - I stood there shivering. It blew me away. Such a great song and ernest lyrics - Should have had a second verse. Fabulous

  • I remember dancing to this when Richard Sirling had it covered up as Bevery Ann at Carolines in Manchester in 1977.

  • Soultime, I thought it had always been common knowledge that she was white ? Doesn't matter one bit to me, like. Dean Parrish is a god of music to me. Timi Yuro, UK Italian ? Not to mention The Blue Sharks !!!!

  • wots it matter they all all sing what we all dance/play to every/most w ends KEEP THE FAITH OUT THERE

  • fantastic! have always loved this track, so Holly recorded it when? circa 1965? it has that mid sixties almost Pet Clarke feel to it

  • Yate.

  • Fab tune! Always reminds me of my Northern days (nights) KTF

  • awsome song . keep the faith

  • @isobella50 YEP

  • just love it so much,i agree with the hair standing on end comment it does it every time

  • Awesome tune!!! Thanks for that!

  • Soultime654321 - Just as amazed as I am.....EVERY time I hear the tune...especially in a big room, atmosphere, hairs standing on end, euphoria at the crescendo... just aint in it!!!! Tell her thanks for the tune, when you see her next... from Gazoor & the Wigan, Carousel & Ardrie crowd of '78

  • One of the best tracks EVER.....definately the best build up ever.......never knew she was white, and I couldn't care less.......a lot of the NS stars are/were white.......so was R. Dean Taylor and the Righteous Brothers.....KTF

  • Froze me the first time I heard it ! A cresendo ...to an aged night of Northern dancing with a few hundred X Wigan Soulies...

    here in Fremantle OZ'

  • i dont care what colour she was what a tune great video to go with it also thank you

  • Don't really care if people want to label this pop - If the vehicle used for me to first hear this track back in Wigan was Northern - Then hooray!!! The lyrics are thoughtful and earnest - the arrangement is fantastic WHAT A BUID UP!!!!! Really glad that Holly knows how this track has been loved through the years. My only complaint - too short - I wish they had done another verse. Other big tracks at the time - Peggy March "If you loved me" and Bobby Paris "I walked away" (WOW!)

  • ditto ditto!

  • Pookie Hudson. Towanda Lewis. Tim Tam and the Turn Ons, Derek and ray

  • @RitmoNo1

This gets the adrenaline going from the first few bars....you can see people winding up into a frenzy on the dancefloor.....maybe NOT pure soul but definitely powerhouse Northern Soul and any record that can produce such a reaction has something going on inside it. Go, Holly, Go!!!

  • @RitmoNo1

With you all the way. It's all "pop" music anyway! A great record that thoroughly deserves the praise it gets.

  • awesome pure awesome thanx so much ;skf; john

  • didnt you know that Holly Pop James was white ?

  • Yeah, she is an Italian American just like Jimmy Radcliffe, The Northern Soul scene is famous for its love affair with non traditional, white "Pop" songs that are phenomenal dance records and very popular on that big dance floor, this record always fills the dance floor, it is the perfect dance track and perfect for the eclecticism of Northern Soul, even Richard Searling loves it!..Soul? probably not!..Northern? without a doubt! it has earned its place in our long and diverse History.

  • Yes remember that period in the North and Manchester in the late 70s, very early 80s when a faction were trying to call it just "Northern" -its been nearly 28 years since I heard some one say its Northern but not soul....!!! Amazing

  • You can't help but be a wanker can you.......go and suck Levines dick you fuckin' pompous asshole.......I've loved everyone I've met from the scene since '72..........what happened to you you twat?

Self proclaimed soul stylist.....I think not.....just shut up and go and wank over your recored box and anorak c*nt.........you are piising off a lot of people that would love to meet you. X

  • THIS COMMENT OF MINE WAS TO SOMEONE CALLED 'Blackpool77' WHO SET HIMSELF UP AS THE GOD OF WHAT IS OR WAS NS.....I GAVE HIM SHIT AT EVERY TURN COZ HE WAS A SNOB OVER THE MUSIC.....HE CALLED THIS 'POP'....POP is short for popular....therefore if it filled a floor and made people happy, we win and he's a pompous wanker...seems many people agreed as he seems to have been removed for causing too much nastiness in a scene that may have disagreements...but not hate.

We're too cool for that, yes? Ktf...

  • This is a video revealing for the first time the identity of Holly St James, the picture was actually given to me from Holly, she is alive and well living in America, she is totally amazed at the popularity of this track and she sicerely thanks everybody for their appreciation.

    Thank You Holly!!
