I have one! Her name is Tonks and she HATES Tobuscus. SHe's just like, clawing the screen and then backing away and flipping out whenever she hears his voice.
Have you ever held a mirror infront of a betta fish? You know how they 'puff up' and get all ready to attack? I assume that it is the same for mantids. I think it's normal.
@0seadragon0 Mantises are very territorial. If they see another mantis in the mirror, they'll try to stand their ground. They're also quite surprised at the fact that they didn't hear or smell the other mantis coming.
ive always been interested in praying mantis but dont know much about them, do u have experience with keeping them as pets ?? Do they make good pets?///////////////////
@rrredzzz They are very interesting creatures and are somewhat easy to take care of. I guess it depends on where you live. They can be found at some petstores, online stores, in your garden or for sure at the L.A Bug Fair.
@rrredzzz They love people that much they REFUSE to get back in their tanks lol They like to clamber up your arm and onto your head. If they escape it's only a matter of time before you find them up high on something.
love the pics, love the mantis. i breed my females too never knew how to care for babies that small so i just let them go. dose feeding them fruit really work? ps i subscribed

Baby mantaids do not like fruit. You would have to feed them tiny tiney bugs.
(Example: the ones that gather at your outdoor light)
Mature mantaids might eat fruit if you give it to them. Watermelon seems to be the favorite. Other fruits could work too but while one might like grapes - the other might favor peas....

@0seadragon0 Yeah, I think you're right... I guess that, from now on, I won't just let my mantis in front of a mirror, and that's it...
Thanks for the response! :D

@rrredzzz By now, I've had quite a few praying mantis as pets. They are fun to keep all you need to do is provide them with food, love & shelter.

Yeah, she was fine. Her babies hatched in April. Cute little things. Let them out in the yard. Think I found one of them
