  • i love this video not only for the model which is to die for, but the music, this music is gorgous incarnate - where can i get it?

  • @walsallmatt Thank You! The music is : Encounter: A Journey in the Key of Space by

Michael Stearns. It can be found on iTunes or ordered through Amazon

  • this truly rivals the new qmx fx model, this is truly a brilliant stunning masterpiece ...

  • I was just thinking that if you had installed a couple blue 1000mw laser diodes in the hull of the saucer section of the ship would had for some extremely cool visual effects! vaporize that annoying Chihuahua!!! LoL

  • Even the panelization is well detailed on the ship's hull! Excellent build!!! =D

  • @leakyvalve Thank you

  • I like your model

  • Sorry to say... but I was disappointed in the video... I really didn't see the model much at all. I saw LEDs, and little else. I wish the lights were turned on.

  • @RyderSpearmann LoL, Ok. It was done so to show the lighting. Pictures with the lights turned on can be found on the website.

  • I almost thought i was watching movie clips. This is masterful; absolutely breathtaking.

  • "All I ask is a tall ship and a star to steer her by." An absolutely gorgeous work of art!

  • @jfgaskin Thank you for your kind comment! That was my final piece of work - there will be no more.

  • Now we need one built to scale with full warp capabilities! Someone should get to work on that.

  • What is the music in this clip? Sorry if this has already been asked.

  • Awesome model that is a movie quality model wow

  • So you paid someone to build it? How much did it cost?

  • @LogMonkey1 I Built It

  • aye that be a fine vessel be thee says i... argh

  • you badly need to refilm this in HD

  • @cirian75

Only 2 problems, I didn't have a HD camcorder 2 years ago and the build is no longer in the country. Perhaps somewhere down the road I'll find HD editing software and see if it can be "remastered". Not on my list of priorities at the moment though.

  • @fuzznoggin hope you got a great price for her.

  • Incredible! Amazing work on the model and you're combination video of The build and Michael Stearns music have come together to create true trekkie porn. Well done and thank you for sharing it.

  • @bear83706 Thanks Bear - "trekkie porn" LoL. Seriously, good comment. Never looked at it that way. :)

  • Whatever your job is you should be doing this for a living my friend, if they had this model when the filmed the original movies, it would have improved the quality to a new standard. Very impressive!!!

  • thats cool dude

  • breathtaking...what light kit did you use? also does the stand come with it or did you build that your self?...I also understand that this kit runs around 1500 dollars is that what you have invested in this...?

  • @bozo47p Custom made lighting kit from a non-commecial source.

  • This is absolutely BEAUTIFUL!! Wow, I would love to have that displayed proudly in my home. Just stunning!! Very good job guys!

  • I'm N LOVE....

  • Very nice work

  • i would like see this in HD 1080P ^_^

  • @px002 , I wish I had a 1080P camera

  • @fuzznoggin Maybe so, surely your camera is better than 240p though :P

  • @ryanspooner092 Nope, unfortunately it's an ancient Sony HandyCam and that's the way it uploaded. Maybe next time :)

  • PERFECT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • wow it looks even more detailed than the original film model.how expensive was this?!

  • AMAZING,BEAUTIFUL,INCREDIBLE. ETC.

  • Great model! How much did the base model cost you before building it?

  • That was so amazing! I wish I could do something like that

  • Amazing model work. This is the best this ship has looked outside of the movies, and probably what it would look like lit up in the deep black of space.

  • Wow, this is incredible! It would be so cool to have and be able to examine. I bet assembling this beauty was a labor of love. I understand aternating light circuits in models, and have organised strobes in cars, but IYDM, what were the sources for your continouslyALT- strobing nav lights, the cool torpedo pulse LED's, and the progressive shield display at the end? In other words, where did you manage to pull these from, esp. the torps., I may like to add those to existing models, w/ permission.

  • Absolutely incredible - is this model available to the public for purchase? Thanks for the great video!

  • how come the deflector dish changes color?

  • @nxmoparmatt84 Because the customer order called for it to be built as such while in station ready/impulse modes.

  • This is an excellent example of what can be done when you're willing to go beyond the kit and truly finish it out. I have to say that this is it. This is the bomb. I've seen great builds before, but this stands up to anything studios could create.

  • This is what finally did it for me. After watching this video, I started my own Enterprise build using the Polar Lights kit(click on my videos to see the end result) I had watched other videos before and was impressed seeing a "studio quality" model, but yours just took the cake! Seeing this video made me want my own so bad I went out and bought it that week. I went to your webpage and you state that you no longer build Star Trek models? Were the customers too demanding or just didnt pay?

  • @helipilot27 sent you a msg ref your question

  • One hell of an impressive model-job. Makes the one used in the movies look like a toy. This is the most detailed & impressive ST Ent model I've ever seen. Would film well next to the 11' long orignal in the Smithsonian. Heroic effort..........

  • @287654321 Thank you for those kind words!

  • When Star Trek (2009) came out, I was inspired to make my own version of the Constitution class. Not as in an "Up yours Ryan Church," but quite the opposite. I based it off of Andrew Probert's Enterprise and gave it recognizable original series parts, and it was a mess. Then I used Ryan Church's design and cleaned it right up.

Even better, thanks for introducing us to Micheal Sterns, his music is incredible!

  • @Potrimpo - My pleasure. Glad you like Sterns' music.

  • HOLY FRAK!

  • excellent work I was really impressed with the photon torpedo launchers. I half expected a ball of light to come flying out!

  • Absolutely staggering work! this is certainly no model - more a piece of sculpture! I was waiting for something to happen with the Photon Torp launchers. Glad I wasn't disappointed! Great stuff!!

  • Amazing work. It's a once in a lifetime kind of project. I found your video looking for references in lighting my own PL Enterprise. When and if you find a second, can you lend me a hand? I can't seem to find a definitive guide on the lighting aspect of the refit.

Just a funny observation -- but the shuttle doors were open and crew members were in the bay! Aren't they gunna.. you know... die?

    LOL!

  • @landwand Force field keeps the life support in the bay - just can't see that part of it LOL

  • PLEASE, put this video to download in your webpage. This a historic registry for fans! WONDERFUL, AMAZING! CLAP, CLAP, CLAP!

  • @jansontiger Just copy the link off You Tube. That should do it for you. Thanks for the accolade. Appreciate it

  • A stunning recreation of my favorite incarnation of the Enterprise. It's Matt Jeffries original design... only born again sleek. Amazing. May I ask, did you build this for yourself or was it commissioned by a collector? Take care.

  • @1SeekerDrone Thanks. I appreciate the comment on the video but I just don't have the time to invest in it anymore. What is up is all there is.

  • Very nice, great job!

  • Very cool.

  • Wow...this could be filmed in motion control for a movie. That's completely awesome and inspiring!

  • Simply stunning..........

  • Sounds like them botanical gardens on the bow are infested with crickets. Is this Art Of Noise orchestrating this?

  • @KJOSCOT Part of the sound track by Michael Sterns. Just think of them as

    "space crickets".

  • @fuzznoggin It is awesome man. That ship, and all the detail within it. . I mean, I have not seen a model that has kicked so much ass! Could I commission you to build me one? However, I would build the shuttlecraft because I want to put a certain type in there. Incredible!

  • @KJOSCOT - Thanks for the kind words. That was my last build - I no longer do this.

  • i see captain kirk taking a tour around the ship

  • this is tight!!!!!!

  • Truely a remarkable ship.Only wished you made the deflector dish in blue.Ooops...my bad.

  • @trufantom21 , it switches between amber and blue depending upon the performance mode selected on the control panel

  • @56Darkhero - Understandable but not intended to slight the Star Wars crowd.

  • You are opening this like Star Wars but it's Star Trek... but good anyway.

  • Wow! Amazing!!

  • This is incredible!! Amazingly detailed!!!

  • I wish I had this in my bedroom!!! :D

  • This is incredible.

You sir are an example to all model makers.

  • The detail is amazing well done.

  • Absolutely amazing and lifelike.

  • A job you can be damn proud of... Matt Jefferies would have been impressed...

  • Wow!!!! This is by far the BEST Connie model I have EVER seen! O.o;

    Greta job!!!

    *Drools......*

    WANT!!!!

  • Where could one get a model like this? I would love to get one.

  • Nicely done.

Any chance we can see a vid of it with the lights on?

The A has to be one of my favorite looking Star Trek ships.

  • PERFECT

  • i see no klingons on its starboard bow jim

  • Wow...just wow...

    Astounding detail!

  • amazing

  • You should be very proud of yourself. Words can not express how realisticly beautiful this masterpeice is. I can only but dream of having one....

  • this is a totaly fantastic model, i realy do think this is the beast i've ever seen how did you get all the parts for this as i would like to start my own project

  • Beautiful! I wish this was in HD!

  • @TS7019 Thanks. And I wish I had an HD video cam for this.

  • Gorgeous

  • Perfection at its finest!!

  • Nice background music. Very nice lighting.

  • amazing!! @ 2:33 What's that ? I have always wondered about it. thanks!

  • @cmsahe: That's the "impulse deflection crystal". Andrew Probert (the guy who designed the Connie Refit) threw it in to explain how the intermix chamber (later termed the warp core) got it's power to the impulse deck.

BTW...I accidentally spammed your message, and I apologize.

  • Not a problem, thanks for the info

  • That is truly a gift of patience...

  • Amazing Job.. It's truly a timeless piece, expecially since you did great work customizing the landing bay. How many parts is in the kit? Im about to order mine from Deboer. Wish they made for models this big.

  • INCREDIBLE!!!

  • Magnificent!

  • Awesome!!!

  • this is the best scale model ever created!

  • wow, its truly a masterpiece! incredible!

  • jesus.. that is truly gorgeous.

And i agree, quite moving in points with that backing music..perfect

  • CAN I HAVE IT?

  • Man that's a awesome!! You can even see some of the hull plating patterns. I'm sure it looks far better in person.

  • HOLY SHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Holy Cow! It makes me want to get on board. I am very impressed! Perfect music.

  • Very awesome model, sir! The Enterprise-refit has to be my favorite incarnations of the USS Enterprise ever. The Enterprise model in the JJ Abrams movie is perhaps my second most favorite. I truly wish that the Enterprise-refit had gotten more screen-time (on TV, that is) than just in the movies so we could get to know it better. If I ever win the lottery, I will certainly be in contact with you to commission a model like this for my very own. Thanks for posting this! :-)

  • This is a very nice replica, its probably better than the studio models, the only thing I wish it had to top it off is the laser beams. It would be an easy addition though.

  • incredible!!

  • That is just INCREDIBLE! Nice job! Time well spent!!!

  • I was moved at some points, the way one is moved when viewing a typical large American city at night from a distance.

  • It's beautiful. If it had been around during filming, without-a-doubt the producers would have hired its makers. In some scenes the Enterprise looks more real than it ever before has. For sure no computer graphics can match it. Computer Graphics always miss the texture and depth. Additionally, at some points the Enterprise here is lit ONLY by its own lights--the way it would actually appear in deep space.

  • Funny thing, for some reason, it felt like the Enterprise was about to lift off, like it might have felt on Star Trek 11 after they finished building it at the Riverside shipyard.

  • That is the polar Lights 1/350 Scale with custom lights added. The Polar Lights kit is only 80 bucks, but to make it like the one in the video, the electronics alone will be in the hundreds, of course factor in Labor and your in the thousands. I have laser scanned the parts and used the rapid prototype to make all the parts in epoxy resin. Not cheap to make these in studio quality. ILM charged $800,000 for the one used in the Trek movies. That one was twice the size of the one in this video.

  • By the way, THAT is not a Polar Lights in the video. It is a DeBoer. Being well versed in laser scan and rapid prototype, you'll see the difference in the overall dimensions of the DeBoer fantal versus the Polar Lights fantail. There is a distinct visible difference.

  • Jeez! Thats GREAT!!! Well done!!FANTASTIC...and how much did this cost?? Nice music..who is that?

  • Oh... MY GAWD.... Amazing! A dream come true! EXCELLENT work guys! There should be a new Star Trek movie using this! IMO

  • Bloody well job man.

  • Impressive !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Now THAT is a Star Trek model...bravo...bravo...very well done. :D

  • The only way you could impress me more would be to make it fly...lol...awesome!!

  • Absolutely beautiful work. Thanks for posting.

  • Excellent model! What music is that btw?

  • Michael Stearns - Encounter CD (New Age Music)

  • Great, man! Thx alot!

  • Best I have ever seen.

  • BRAVO! Excelllent, awesome, stellar, magnificient,,,truely a labor of love, time, patience and cash! I'll take one on 40 easy payments of 29.95, minus shipping of course! How do I order? ahahahahahahahahahahahaha. I know CBS licensing would tear your ass a new one for selling them!

  • Ah ha, but CBS couldn't touch this - it falls under artistic license. Now on the other hand, the kit itself and the markings, well that is probably fair game but I'm not the creator or copywrite violator in that arena.

  • man that is truly amazing!it looks like the polar lights kit.right now im working on an old amt kit of the NCC-1701-A from star trek 4.bet it wont look like that though.

  • One of the best peice of art I have ever ever veiwed

  • Completely and utterly awesome, except for one point: the main 'comm dish' seen in 3:09 on the front of the engineering deck is supposed to be blue...

  • Thanks! The client wanted the dish to be in "standby mode" (amber) and "active mode" (blue) under warp. What you're looking at in 3:09 is "station ready' - just idle

  • cool-I had no idea!

    Anyway, great model!

  • wow this is so cool! I have a 1/1400 Enterprise-E I plan to light up if I can find the rest of the lights and a power supply.

  • Took you three months to make that(lol I cheated and used a calculator to figure that out)? Of course I don't count all the break times(family quality time, work...etc.). Still that is some dedication. If I did not know any better, I'd say that someone in ILM made that.

    Nice work. :)

  • Wonderful, simply wonderful.

  • The best damn star trek model ive ever seen!!! That is 99.9% movie quality model work, great job :-)

  • 2:29 look they are waving!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Simply beautiful... Im in Awe!!!!! Very well done....

  • Jack,

That is by far the best build of the DeBore Enterprise I've seen! Awesome job man, awesome job! :)

  • Kudos its a beautiful peice of work on my all time favorite starship design

That of the refit Constitution class

  • You Sir, are an arteeeest! That is the most beautiful model I've ever seen. This is my favorite Enterprise. You certainly did it justice! It's movie quality good! Clearly, you put alot of time into this and it shows. Excellent work and thank you for sharing this absolute masterpiece!

  • As a child of the 80s this represents my favorite rendition of the Enterprise and is a great tribute to Douglas Trumbull's concept of a "self-illuminating" model covered in lights just like a real-world ship/airplane/building which reduced the need for fake-looking "movie lighting" in deep space.

  • This deserve an extencive article for Fine Scale Modeler Magazine!!!!

  • Did you use any pearlescent or interference type paints for the aztec patterns on the primary and secondary hulls? This is a great build of a rare kit. I especially like the inclusion of both standby and active modes for the main deflector. Also, the deflector's backlighting is subtle enough that it doesn't overpower the filigree pattern on the deflector surface. Many builds of the polar lights kit and ertl kit turn the deflector into a blue flashlight. Nice work!

  • The only pearlescent is the Tamiya pearl white base coat. All azteking was airbrushed on with reefer white and toned down with a light misting of dullcoat lacquer.

The Navigational Deflector had a custom made LED array (from Space Circuits) that took into consideration eliminating the flashlight effect.

  • Awesome Build. I only saw one flaw. You made both of the Port and Starboard lights above the shuttle bay, red. The Starboard light should be green.

  • Totally awe inspiring.

  • Amazing work, this would be great as a video resume for your work.

  • thats the best i have seen

  • Really, really impressive work on the model. The video is damned annoying though.

  • Thanks. I should have shot the video in HD

  • Stunning work, few of us could approach that skill level. I know it sounds silly but I could just sit and stare at it. Great testament to a (still) great ST scene- our first look at The Refit. Congrats!

  • LOL love how its a Trek model, with a Star Wars intro.

    BTW... Fucking amazing!

  • AMAIZING!!!!!

  • OMG

    *drools*

    amazing

    museum quality

    just amazing

  • remarkable !

that´s the best replica of the most beautiful ship in history !

i really look up to you and your masterpiece of hard work.

    congratulations !

  • I'm at a loss for words.....(drooling)

  • Awesome!!!

  • I like when you show it with litle fill light.. I thought the more recent movies shows the ship with too much fill light. Probably because they aren't physical models anymore, they are CG. The darker fill really makes it look like its in space.

Now lets pack it with M80's and gasoline and blow it up!!! you did intend to blow it up, didn't you?

  • Actually, Macs have a tendency to blow away Windows in the graphics arena..... and I used to be a staunch Window user. Sorry

  • Just when I thought this model couldnt be any cooler...you give me TORPEDO LAUNCH FLASHES.

I now have a mancrush on you!

  • :O i must say that is one awsome polar lighted ship replica u have :) a bonus polar style 5/5 from me :D.

  • Thanks! It's not the Polar Lights 1:350th version. This is the DeBoer 46" verstion - fiberglass/resin kit
