The national sales tax replaces the income tax. As for States building schools, roads, I was including them as part of government. Many states are selling off assets (roads, parks, prisons) that the taxpayers paid for, to private companies. This is as horrible idea and a good example of why states gov. is no better than fed. gov. Lobbyists would just move to the state government (they are already there anyway). Baning them is the correct and only way.

@Photog60 OFCOURSE state governing is better than national governing. Its more localized more specific (or should be) and closer to the bosses (us). And ..its easier to move to another state than it is another country isn't it ?

Once things are allowed/made to get even worse, people will be wishing that a man like Ron Paul could have been given a fair shake. You always see the trap that was set for you once you're stuck in it.

A lot of things that Ron Paul says makes sense. Using his minimal government idea, who builds the schools, roads and hires police? Iraq had a minimal government and they had a civil war. What is really needed is to ban lobbyists, stop illegal immigration, greatly reduce legal immigration and eliminate the income tax and IRS. A national sales tax would supply the government and would encourage saving and investment. I haven't heard anything about this.

States would build the schools, roads, and hire police forces. If you take the money away from the federal government, you take the power away from the lobbyists. A national sales tax wouldn't fix anything because the federal government would still be bringing in more money than they need.
