the second pitch you threw was good, you get your hips in good...the only thing i'd work on is your timing with arm up when you land. If you don't have your arm up or on its way up by the time your stride foot lands, you put unnecessary stress on your arm.
need more practice on his feet.. you can see that his left feet is not landing straight at the catcher, when he land he feet is goin to 3rd base.. that why he throwin balls
eh i dnt think hes a major league prospect mayb a decent highschool pitcher depending where he lives but theres alot of potential but not pro yet-Robbie Aviles..Dont kno the name look it up..good potential just not there yet
That's not necessarily true... any pitching coach who is STILL in the bigs coaching, will tell you that you have to do what keeps you accurate and healthy. The "landing on your heel" point is also mainly reserved for very explosive, high velocity pitchers, a category this guy (all do respect, great movement) doesn't fit in.
he lands pretty squarely on his foot. only problem though is that his foot is closed when he takes his stride so his hips aren't rotating through to full potential taking away some tics on the gun
most pitchers land heel first then toe, just like walking. The old school coaches who know nothing teach ball of your foot. It causes a short stride which doesn't allow for a max drag line. It's as important in the mechanics of pitching as was once believed.
truly, there are mannnnnny different methods to pitching, again, ideally you want to land on the balls of your feet. when, in any sport is being on your heels an "athletic position?"
yeah if you have no balance position. just cause you land on the balls of your feet doesnt mean you automatically drift. you have to stay stable and drive your hips and arm throught from the balanced position.
Listen gentlemen, you all sound very educated in the art of pitching. Im sure Pavano and Pedro, Schilling all understood as well. If he throws strikes it does not matter if he throws under hand. His motion is perfectly fine if he is consistently throwing strikes. If he was not I'm pretty sure those guys next to him would have noticed already. Thats what we do eat sleep baseball.
No tucking it's the root of almost all arm injuries. In game speed it apears like a pull or tuck but in slow mo it's just a flip and the chest meets the glove not the other way around.
well landing on the heel would def. give him an edge bc the keys to pitching are fluid motion and momentum....landing on the heel keeps forward motion. landing flat footed or on the toe causes a force against the momentum which in turn would slow the pitch down.tucking the glove isnt a "must".....its just more natural feeling to some pitchers
you cant tell how fast hes throwing by watching it after its been made on a cheap camera then downloaded to the internet. and the only 'bad mechanic' is that his elbow slow slot is lower than most.....that doesnt mean theres anything wrong with it. nobody pitches the same....its just whatever works best for you
foot placement is just a quirk that pitching instructor use on the young guys... by the time you get to the bigs you have practiced striding over your body thousands of times and can still execute either way
This Prospect's motion is an excellent example of a AAA/Journeyman MLB pitching motion.
This Pitcher absolutely lands with his Front Foot closed to his target. His closed Front Foot blocks him from a total Hip rotation. Pitchers with landing with a closed Front Foot, typically hop forward at the end of their motion.
His Coach can easily correct this by repositioning his Front Leg as this Pitcher begins his motion.
if he pitched to a normal sized hitter he would probably walk him after 7-8 pitches

you are contradicting yourself kid. "ideally" you should land on the balls of your feet, NOT your heel.

you are wrong. trust me. you do not want to land on your heel, it is stressful and throws your body off line.

that whpping motion can be achieved by other ways than tucking.....a lot of pitchers use a kind of swim looking move
