  • This is so stupid. This isn't a damn conversion video. He had a frickin' track frame already, not a road bike/mountain bike frame to convert from. wth.

  • And He's From Expert Village.....I Guess We All Know He Was Kicked Out Of That Village!

  • oh it's by expertvillage. that explains a lot

  • Those are track forks, not drop outs. Herp derp.

  • This guy has no idea. Way to go expert village...

  • VICE versa...

sorry that just grinds my gears, good video though

  • they're track dropouts... not horizantal, nor fork ends

  • i have vertical drop outs and i definately dont have a tensioner or brakes and i ride fixied

  • What is so bad about a tensioner?

I have a mongoose switchback mountain bike that i just put 1.5 road tires on. I want to convert it to a fixie but it has vertical dropouts. Can anybody help me, like tell me what i have to do and if what I got going is good?

  • Scratch that, not converting to a fixed gear but singlespeed.

  • nevermind.

  • why would you turn a mountain bike into a fixed gear?

  • @xX6jdub9XxaaaA Back then mountain bikes use to be durable and had the same geometry as a road bike like before. They were steel Lugged or aluminum/steel. Some are able to be converted.

  • Tensioner on a fixie? what a douche! try a ENO Hub from white ind that will adjust the chain tension on vertical dropouts. Or measure the chain!

  • AAH man i learned AALLL about converting a bike to a fixed gear

    -hero

  • how to kill yourself in a single step , put a chain tensioner on a fixed gear!

  • hey transane u !CANNOT! run a tensioner on a fixed gear

the force of skidding and or sudden stopping will bend the tensioner no tensioner is built to withstand this force.

u can on ss as i have in the past i do know what im talking about i have a ss and a fixed gear.

    twat. ha.

  • hahaha

I thought you could when he said it... but now that i imagine having a tensioner on a fixie..... ugh

  • yea.. i got a clubman bike with vertical dropouts, and im going to convert it into a fixie but this guy just confused me about the tensioner crap he was talking about... do i need that?

  • you need it if you cant get the tension correct on your setup.

Depends on gearing and chainstay length really.

Ive seen some fixies with verticle dropouts that work, while the majority of them dont.

  • You most likely can't convert it, as you have no means of chain tension. Chain tensioners work for singlespeed, but any back-pedaling will destroy any chain tensioner you put on a fixed gear.

Singlespeed conversion you can do, fixed gear nope.

  • I was watching a few videos on youtube about fixed gear bikes. And there are a lot of haters why?

  • People think it's a trend and they think it's cool to bash anything that becomes generally popular.

  • this is incredible. these guys didn't do ONE good video. no matter the domain...

  • omg i feel so informed

    -hero

  • ... and

  • they are track ends not dropouts, horizontal dropouts require the wheel to be pulled forwards, what's more YOU CANNOT use a chain tensioner on a FIXED GEAR only a single speed and out this video is rubbish

  • come on man get down to the nitty gritty of how to convert from a freewheel

  • "the next level of excitement" your voice certainly sells that one. All my mountain bike gears are quite exciting, I just want something new..

  • this is so stupid. it does explain anything how to actually convert the bike. faggot.

  • oh and you cant used a pully chain tensioner on a fixed gear. delete this video

  • wow so that's how it's done

  • this didnt teach me anything

  • Decent explanation of dropouts, but this video really doesn't cover how to convert a bike to a fixie at all. Change the title?

  • they are track ends not dropouts, horizontal dropouts require the wheel to be pulled forwards and out this video is rubbish

  • this video just confused the shit out of me ...

  • speak to somone who know's what they are talking about, expert villiage needs one thing to make it good, EXPERTS

  • horrible video rofl

  • expert village has the most videos and the worst ones too.

  • I agree. None of them are long enough or detailed enough to explain anything.

  • ???WTF no useful info at all
