Thanks for the kind words. M=maple back & sides, S=spruce top. My guitar is from the early run of GS models, before they had standard model designations. Mine is the same as the current GS6. You won't often see one of these with a pickguard, but mine has one, thankfully.
Adam - if you get a GS8 or an 816ce you should see lots of bass presence or if you can get your hands on a GS with Cocobolo back and sides you will definitely see an improved bass presence.
