In the 40s black and white was not that colorful. Needs more contrast.
Also, the frame rate was too high.
Other than that, I it made me smile a bit.

it depends on the camera, and surely if it's been set in 1940 it would have a standard 24 fps (25 didn't come into it for a while).
and as well as the b&w contrast, the 40's was a great period of change with colour coming in and developing techniques changing.
a digital reproduction of film will always have differences, and in the end this is a good short.
