Looks sweet. One other idea.. If he's suppost to be "flying" I'd think about adding cotton painted up for smoke/flames coming out of his pack and it would cover up the mounting..Just an idea though..
@MetaL0rk Another Better option which I can't believe I didn't think of would be to use Green stuff and sculpt the flame stream down and around that mounting post. I've seen some good tutorials here on that.

@mhf1979 I only have one tone of gold, as apposed to 5 different red colors. Hard to do any kind of layering with 1 color. : )
