It doesn't matter where they're from. I think that this is the best version of SRSP I've heard on YT. Listen to that trombone wail in the beginning. I also think a clarinet is a must in Dixieland Jazz....no offense to the bagpipes. Pete Fountain would be proud of this performance. Nice drumming and cornet work too. Kudos to all.
Several of the members of this band actually had been in New Orleans. Schilperoort certainly did. But then another question, how many of the original Bob Crosby Orchestra, who first played the piece and whose members composed it, had actually been there? They worked in NYC and Los Angeles....
In that light, what did Billy Holiday in the movie New Orleans??? But on the other hand, let's simply be gratefull that so much nice music is recorded and now available for everyone on youtube!
Long way to go to outperform your predecessors.

Anyone heard the Scots Guards (pipe & drum band) version? I wore my record out.

Peter is playing tenor, not baritone, saxophone. Beautiful playing.

You are absolutely right. it is a tenor. Lester, I am glad you noticed it, after 11.000 folks had watched it.

So odd to see the name South Rampart in a Dutch jazz band who may never have been to Rampart Street. :)
No offense of course, the Europeans appropriate New Orleans music more than most Americans.
