Robert De Niro's Best Performances: 1. Raging Bull (1980) 2. Taxi Driver (1976) 3. The Godfather, Part II (1974) 4. Cape Fear (1991) 5. Awakenings (1990) 6. The Deer Hunter (1978) 7. Heat (1995) 8. The King of Comedy (1983) 9. Mean Streets (1973) 10. Casino (1995)
I have come to the conclusion that in present time vs. the 90s, the antagonist in thrillers have changed drastically. In Cape Fear, Robert DeNiro is menacing and unattractive, but, in a movie like Trespass, the bad guy is Cam Gigandet!?! Cam may be crazed in the film, but he is extemely hot. Why have thrillers changed in this way? I’ll tell you why, bcuz it complicates the plot! Even though a person may seem normal doesn’t mean they are.

the young robert de niro looks like a thug; but when you see him on "Heat", just four years later, he's like a gentleman; amazing what a simple haircut can do to a guy's image
@darthkantus THAT DIFERENCE OF "LOOKS" YUO MENTIONATED IN THE DENIRO OF CAPE FEAR AND THE DENIRO OF HEAT....ARE NOT JUST SIMPLE BEACUSE OF THE HAIRCUT...IS FOR THE PERFORMER....AND THOSE 2 FILMS ARE GOOD.....BUT BY FAR ARENT THE BEST OF DENIRO!
@hugothenerd Yeah. Sideshow Bob wanted to kill the Simpsons. He tied himself to the bottom of their car just like in the movie--except they went over lots of speed bumps and drove through a cactus field. :/
i feel stupid asking this, but, was this a true story, and also, this isnt your usual Scorsese film, and De Niro is a perfect psycho. my favorite movie, besides GoodFellas
one of the best thrillers of all time. there's only so many remakes out there which actually succeed in being superior than the original and this is a fine example. Scorsese's remake with De Niro playing Max Cady is fucking spectacular. i was reading a list of 'bad remakes of great films' and alongside Psycho and Planet of the Apes they mentioned this remake which felt like a fucking insult considering this is a complete masterpiece.

I really consider this guy (Robert De Niro) the guy from Falling Down ( Michael Douglas) and Jewels from Pulp Fiction (Samuel L Jackson) as being some of the most rememberable, crazy, & realistic badasses in movies... Just my opinion & would like to know yours if ya want!!! Happy Holidays!!
Boy did this film scare the crap out of me! Could hardly get to sleep last night because of Mr. De Niro... Such a great film and so brutal but didn't feel much for the last scene. To me in felt rushed and out of control but as a whole, I loved this film. :)
deniro lol with his classic look seem to be randomly watching heaps of movies with Juliette Lewis in them lol dont think shes hot or anything id do her tho. in natural born killers she was a crazy bitch prolly wouldnt do her there
@Gallifrey1991 Deniro had the intense persona for his character down to a t in this flick. He's the type of actor who always embodies his characters wholly and subtly that you can't tell that he's acting. You believe that he is the character he is portraying, that's how accurate his acting his in most of his flicks. My fave flicks with him are Goodfellas, Cape fear, A bronx tale, Casino, Heat, The untouchables, sleepers, awakenings and Jackie brown despite his minor role it was memorable.
Awesome movie and one of the best thrillers i have ever seen. Robert De Niro proves once again why he is one of the greatest actors to ever live and Scorscese why he is the greatest director alive.
I'm struggling to get through the book, which has the least likable version of the Bowdens and is horribly dated. The two movie versions are fantastic though.
Look, I like Scorsese and de Niro too, but I thought this movie was not as great as some of Scorsese's other movies. Oscar worthy? I can't see it, I don't know why everyone says this is so good, it seems cheesy to me
There were a lot of big studio, big-budget psycho thrillers coming out in the late 80's/early 90's: Fatal Attraction, Single White Female, Dead Calm, Basic Insinct, Body of Evidence, Jade, etc.
Cape Fear is the best. Great performances, great music, great direction. Very creepy and well-made thriler that still stands up today almost 20 years later. This is also one of the few remakes that DRASTICALLY improves on the original.
Cape Fear is really brilliant Thriller with great acting. Robert De Niro showed really superb emotions. The same with Nick Nolte, Jessica Lange and Juliette Lewis.

de niro is performance is so conviving its scary...and juliette lewis is so hot in this film as well I just watched it and the first thing I did was check her age when she was in this film...thankfully she was 18..a HOT 18
This trailer brings back so many awful memories. This is another trailer I remember seeing late at night when I was a kid who loved watching the Late Show with David Letterman. I used to have this horrible, irrational fear of swamps and seeing those opening shots of the swamp surrounded by the dead trees -- those shots as serene as they are compared to the rest of the trailer used to scare the hell out of me more than anything De Niro did.
This is a great movie! Excellent acting from Bobby DeNiro, Juliette Lewis, Nick Nolte, Jessica lange and the rest of the cast, very good direction from Marty Scorsese, Fantastic editing, as usual from Thelma Schoonmaker and Elmer Bernstein's rendition of Bernard Herrmann's original score kicked ass! One of my Favorite Scorsese films.
@royalsteven You know what, I never would have thought of that. He really would be a great Joker. He's certainly proved that he can break out of his typecast roles/performances in movies like Cape Fear and the King of Comedy. If only, right?
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Martin Sco'sese's suspenseful remake of th' 1962 thriller stars Billy Bob De Niro as a sadistic ex-corn seekin' revenge aginst his fo'mer lawyer. Nick Nolte, Jessica Lange. Billy Bob Mitchoom an' Grego'y Peck, stars of th' origeenal film, haf cameos. De Niro an' Juliette Lewis, who plays th' lawyer's troubled dotter, were nominated fo' Oscars

@royalsteven You know what, I never would have thought of that. He really would be a great Joker. He's certainly proved that he can break out of his typecast roles/performances in movies like Cape Fear and the King of Comedy. If only, right?

Yeah he can do any role really.

The script for this movie is written by Wesley Strick who also wrote the script for A Nightmare On Elm Street remake.
