my brother is joining 11th SQN from RAAF Base Wagga this year! just had his grad today! on his way to LAC! good luck ya little shit haha :) GO THE RAAF!
@atown327 Yer alright mate, that's why we're buying/bought 100 F-35s, 5 KC-30 tankers, another C-17, 6 AEW&C 737s, 24 FA-18F's as a gap-filler, also replacing the 65 PC-9s in the next 10 years, replacing the P-3s with P-8 in the next 10 years, and buying more UAV's...because we don't have any money. It's more of a case where the RAAF doesn't need to prove to the world how good our fighter pilots are by putting together a demo team.
I'm in 417SQN. Hence the name warbird417!!!. We have Annual Parade and Drill Competition on 17th May. The Roulettes are gonna be there!!! How long you been in AAFC??
That is what i stated... that computers do most of the work. Computers assist fighter pilots in a much different way. They do not fly the aircraft for them, they assist in locating an enemy aircraft and the deployment of their munitions. Some fighter jets are that unstable that the computer will make minor constant adjustments to keep it flying straight.
Ah good we've just seemed to turn our last post into all out abuse, how nice.
I am currently training on my RPl, Restricted Pilot's LIcense, although you'd have no clue what I'm on about, so yes, I am a pilot, and I believe you were saying how fighter pilots let computers do the work? And now you know Commercial airliners do, so therefore, you hate them? Can you say Con-tra-dic-tion? I'm going to stop this nonsense now as all you can do is asume and abuse, I could state facts all day.
By the way, ever heard of fly-by-wire? or fadec? They are what control airliners like the A320/A330/A340. Ever heard of a Flight Management System?. The pilots put all the flight details into the flight computer, press 2 buttons (literally) after takeoff and can sit the whole flight right up to the landing without doing anything more than hitting a few buttons. Fighter's don't get that. I'm not against any form of civil flying as I love all aviation, I'm just making my point.
Oh my god haha I'm arguing with a spastic. $30B a day? If you're going to back yourself up with fake evidence, at least make it believable. More civil pilot's would have jobs? The way the airline industry works is it goes through peaks and depressions, at the lowest point of a depression, we can't get enough pilots, fucktard, you obviously know nothing about what you're arguing about.
Fair enough to like space exploration but to say that we need to remove government funding for defence and place it in "meteor destruction" is just ridiculous. I'm assuming you're about 14, even so, we aren't going to go building civilizations on mars in your lifetime mate.
That's just a stupid comment isn't it? To be a pilot in the RAAF you must first past flight screening, then comes ADFA or officer training, BFTS, 2FTS, from there you may fly Air lift group where there is no fighter training or "killing" as you put it. After your 10 or so year service on an operational airframe, you MAY be selected to go to CFS to learn to be an instructor, after wards you MAY again be selected to become a Roulette. At no point may you be required to kill anything.
On that note, if you are selected to fly the Hornet or F-111, chances are you will not ever be required to go to war, or strike or destroy and actual being. We don't our pilots then send em off to Iraq, we train them, and then when they're operational, they practice and practice some more, go on exercises to demonstrate their elite abilities to other nations and work with other nations in case we do somehow come under threat.
How dosile are you trying to be? Normal aircraft? as in civil I'm gathering you mean. We use them, and we train our pilots in them, because there are possible threats, however slim they may be to our country, the same reason every country has a defence force. You have no understanding of well, anything military wise, and you may not wish to know anything in that field, but put it this way, would you feel better with or without our defence force? You reckon we dont need an air force? wow.
well i do have some knowledge in the defence force, and i am interested in it. i do feel safer with it yes, but fighters can't go into space can they?
i think our greatest threats are from the universe... no, not exactly aliens. but meteorites... or disease, the economy and other stuff, there are people dieing right know from starvation... maybe you can build some machines to shoot space stuff down or feed some ethiopians, or, go to mars or back to the moon you redneck american KKK cunt...
Threats from space? XD The world has bigger issues last time I looked at current events. The economy yes that is an issue, but you can't build an item to stop that; again, completely irrelevant on your behalf. In the near future, sending a civilization to Mars is incredibly pointless and hopeless. Silly boy. By the way I'm Aussie, fully racially tolerant as irrelevant as that comment was, and you wouldn't know about Australia's peacekeeping and rebuilding tasks in operation would you now?
Can we get back to the point of how amazing and skilled the Roulettes are and how they would never hire someone like you who has such an odd perspective on, well, everything? Even if they did let you join the Air Force.
One thing you have to consider with the PC-9 (looking purely at its aerobatics) is that it is very sensitive to turbulence and such. So to fly one of these things with this precision is a well deserve feat to earn.
Great video! What is the roll rate like in the PC9? It doesn't look to be as fast as the Extra or Yak. It looks like you have to work a bit harder. Have you flown a Pitts? If so how do they compare for roll/pitch rates?
I couldn't tell you the roll rate off the top of my head...it is reasonable without being fast - the aileron roll at the end is full deflection. It is definitely not in the same league as a Pitts/Sukhoi etc. Control forces are reasonably heavy at display speeds as well (after a few minutes).
I haven't flown a Pitts - but it my ambition to own one one day... :)
is he talking degrees? an extra 200 can roll at around 360 per second. A pc9 is no where near as quick... I cannot imagine rolling at 720 per second, it would be a sure fire way to abort a baby I guess
Thats the funny thing..he isn't, he obviously knows shit about the PC9, and the RAAF's maintenance as well as pilots manoeuvrings and techniques in assuring minimal stress to the airframe. The RAAF has incredibly strict G limitations, and the Roulettes are barely exempt from those restrictions.
105 sqn is the best!

i think it's more of a case of the RAAF not having the money for newer planes...nice cover though.

oh i see, so why cant they just use normal aeroplanes instead of f22 raptors...
i DO want improvements in aviation (mainly civil) but i still love it when they go higher, faster etc. But why use em... becuase china have them...
them = fighters
