@TheDiego1255 No warping. Just a large map and lots of options. Even the warping or ingame FAST Travel takes a long time if points havn't been taken properly.

@101011110101 Alex is right. The diference between shit like BF/COH etc and Arma is what determines is't populatity. BF has great GFX but Arma is more PRO and requires MUCH more tactics skill than run'em-gun'em games. That's why the average age of players in Arma who play at expert mode on huge, combined battles is twice the age players of BF. In case you didn't know - Arma is closely based on a combat simulator designed by it's developers for some (including US) armies.to train tactics with.

@101011110101 Dude, if you have arma 2 you should know that there's an addon Arrowhead which everyone has already got. That along with Arma 2 gives Arma II Combined Operations and everyone plays that version. You probably have Arma I or you have enabled some shitty filter... or Arma II developers knew you and did't want you to play with others, lol. HUNDREDS of people play Arma II and there ARE dozens of servers.

@TheSisisspore Nope. there are two huge maps (some dozens of square kilometers) and some smaller 5x5km. You can go anywhere you want and really get lost without a map. At night if you don't have a compass (or GPS) you can determine north and south by stars on the sky. At full real the game is for big boys only cause kids playing "tunnel" maps in other games will get lost in just a few steps. You'd be surprised how challenging the game might be at expert mode without proper tools.

Chernorus, Takistan, Utes airfield island, Zagrabad city, nuclera testing zone and more. You can download more free maps from fansites like armaholic. ALL maps aviable for both SP and MP game types.

It's free, the full game is there minus HD graphics and campaign.

Arma has tons of maps. A small island map and and huge forest/town/city map

in the vanilla game and then there are plenty of user made maps on Armaholic

@smashbrosdojo3 ARMAII is all about planning your attack/defense. It has a massive map for maneuvering and placing yourselves and coordinating. Its like 20 minutes of planning/moving and 5 to 10 mins of action. Most of the playtime is spent planning and moving. And since you die really really fast if you get targeted you need to be very very careful, no ones going to go Rambo unless he has a deathwish.

There are towns and cities on Arma maps that are bigger then all of the Battlefield series maps.

Walking across even a medium size map would take a few hours.

@smashbrosdojo3 According to DICE, the Caspian Border map is 1.4 km wide. So let's just say that it's 1.4 km2. ArmA 2's Chernarus map is 225 km2, and the Takistan map is 164 km2. But then again, BF3 isn't a hardcore MilSim, but a good FPS. For reference: I think most BF2 maps were about 2 km2.

BF3 is shit in map size. But I'm kind of glad BF3 exsists. Takes the "CoD-players" out of ArmA, so to speak. This is the closest to warsim I've ever tested. Or even heard of for that matter.

No it's not really.

The planes are there really to simulate the support of ground troops.

You can dogfight, but it's not MS flight sim.

@dekster14LP Huh? It's a warfare simulator, not a ground unit simulator. The air vehicles are just as big a part of ARMA 2 than anything.

The effects planes have on battles is simulated, but the planes themselves aren't realisticly simulated. The end result is the same, but when I fly a plane in Arma I don't have the impression I'm flying something realistic. I hope you catch my drift. ;)

Also, I do like flying in arma. The helicopters are fun and dogfighting online is fun, but I'd wish the controls and dynamics of the planes to be more realistic. (For instance trottle control, using the rudder to turn and "stall" the plane mid air etc.)

we did it just like you do a real film - a script, camera (POV with different carriers), actors and a director :)

oh... and we filmed it in 4:3 format so going into 16:9 was easy. You would just crop the top and the bottom to get the widescreen. Doing so in vehicles you get rid of Arma's dials like radar (which is disabled in VB), compass, vehicle status etc. The lack of crosshair targeting was natural - VB is played on expert mode so you don't have any.
