@eggplant1905 Right now, private businesses are doing fine and creating the same amount of production with less labor. It is cheaper for them to use less labor and make employees work longer hours than it is for them to hire new employees.. Its basic economics. What part of this don't you understand? How does this statement equate to me not thinking the private sector creates jobs. Good god, you are a headache. Your hate over rides any logic you may have. So, what else is left?
@eggplant1905 One other thing. Be sure to forget to hit the reply button when you comment back. That way you don't get schooled in the basics, and I might not see what you retort.
@TheRationalBeing I said "Can you really believe that private companies are the cause of high unemployment rates?" You then said, "UM Yeah, I can." Later you said, "I didn't say that government created jobs." If businesses aren't creating jobs and government isn't creating jobs than who will?
@eggplant1905 Well if the private companies didn't hire back the same amount of people they had working before, then yes, they are part of the reason for the high unemployment. That has nothing to do with job creation. You brought up a good question. "If neither are creating jobs, then who will?" That is still to be seen. It will come from the private sector when they are ready.
What was the cause of the economic collapse that resulted in high unemployment rates? The private sector.
@kaewonf8 The lesson of the collapse of all socialist systems is you can't plan an economy and you can't plan a recovery - it's too complicated. Money is called liquidity because it can energize all levels of the economy like water does in the body. Obama has had his stimulus package and middle class tax cuts and still there are very few jobs being created. A massive infusion of cash into the financial system via a capital gains, dividends and top marginal rate tax cut is the only way.
Darn instead of calling yourself rationalbeing how bout bed wetting raving progressive sniveling liberal. As always you Communist want to bees crack my ass up. Get off the welfare and get a job. What's the difference between a progressive and a trampoline? You take your boots off to jump on a trampoline.
@badbob85037 someone else had the decency to hit "reply" to my comment. You on the other hand, just wrote a bunch of drivel hoping I would not come back and retort to your retarded ass. Go check out the Dunning-Kruger study and you will see what I think of your kind. I'm not on welfare. I have a good paying job. and anytime you feel like jumping...bring it bitch. I'm a progressive the likes you have never met. I eat violence, and will paste you with it dumb ass.
@TheRationalBeing 1. The Progressive Caucus was founded by a Communist
2. There is a derelict that lives in a dumpster behind the 7-11. Always talking to himself and his member he calls Violence. WANT ME TO SET YOU TWO UP.
@badbob85037 Sure thing McCarthy! Communists are everywhere! Be afraid, be very afraid! LMAO I call to bring back the Bull Moose Party. Communists, Capitalists, you are all cut from the same fucking cloth. The way you hate communism and how it brought poverty to millions, you should be aware that you are following wolves in wolves clothing, and they are leading America down the same path the failed communism. Have at it. I could give a shit less.
@TheRationalBeing To destroy a nation from within Communist doctrine say: 1 Infiltrate the education system and teach our political views. Read any text books the last 20 years? Use the nations law to promote sick and perverted ways. Been to a gay parade lately? Over 60 million killed by abortion. Infiltrate the government, 70 Congressmen are members of the Socialist or Communist party making our laws.
@badbob85037 I'm not done yet While we have been fighting on useless issues Congress just turned over to the president the power to chose through out the spectrum thousands of government positions without congress aproval. Both parties were in on this dismantalin of the Constitution. Budgetcuts proposed by the Repugs are a joke at best but the Demos act as if it would kill us all. If their lips are moving they are lying. Both Parties have screwed us. To think one is any better isn't thinking.
@TheRationalBeing You are either young or ignorant as you don't have a clue as to what freedom once was in America. Before government destroyed families with welfare putting them is crime and drug infested hell holes with no way out. When a 13 year old had both the right and responsibility to carry a firearm. When Social Security was a personal saving account, not just another tax. Death panels. The Constitution made null and void. Over 2,000 government agencies in every part of our life.
@badbob85037 Dude, you are one fucked up individual touting a bunch of opinionated bullshit. Its your opinion, and my opinion is that you are wrong. Dead wrong.
Damn, It is hard to believe some of the stupid shit people write on these walls. Unemployment has gone up, and all a fucking conservative can say is that "its people looking for a hand out". As if in 2006, 15 million people all decided to quit their jobs and go on welfare because it is so much easier and such a good living. I'm sure it had nothing to do with major US corporations laying people off and firing them, and blame the bad manners on regulation. If you believe in this, you are wrong.
@TheRationalBeing Can you really believe that private companies are the cause of high unemployment rates? You are so ignorant. Obama is a horrible president and if you open your eyes you might realize that.
@eggplant1905 UM Yeah, I can. Blame Obama all you want, but the facts are that the economic business climate has stabilized and companies are making profits once again. They found they can make as much product using less labor by making others work longer hours. The administrations jobs is to create a climate conducive to growth, not hiring. Sorry if this whole idea is to complex for that tiny brain of yours. It gets even worse. I gave you the easy version. Now go back to your teabagipede.
@TheRationalBeing The Progressive Caucus was founded by Socialist Party member, Congressman Bernie Sanders of Vermont. 70 House Democrats are members of the Socialist Party. Taking an oath to defend the Constitution then joining a political group to destroy it is covered in the Decleration as to what our right and duty is dealing with 'Progressives'. If the Republican Party was any better than Progressives they would raise the flag on these traitors. "Bring It"? Shut up and set down.
@eggplant1905 Um, I didn't say that government created jobs. Read my statement again and then come back when you grow up enough to understand basic grammar and word usage.
SWING VOTER- One who chooses the least of two evils
PROGRESSIVE- Communist, Socialist or one with a low IQ or someone wanting something for nothing who follow them.
REPUBLICAN-See Progressive
As two hands, one slaps your ass the other hands you a cheap band-aid but both of the same mind. Forget the issues they tell you are the issues and start realizing what they are doing. You won't like it.
Im forming a new grassroot party called the Alliance. Our creed will be " we are called by the people to serve the people. Our allegiance is not to the party itself or special interest but to the constitution and the people it defends. help me to bring a era of forward thinkers in government. learn more e- mail me to m.phillips@gmx.us
It brings out the worst in a person. Proof, Katrina, when the flood water recided people were found drown in their homes. Robbed of their ability to deside to get to high ground waiting on government to tell them what to do Others stayed behind to rape, murder, burn, and loot. No longer able to burn crosses and use fear the democrats had to find a way to get votes. Giving hand outs never a hand up. There are 62 million living off 256 million's labors. Dance boy you and your daddy, get a job
50% of America didn't vote for Barry. 62 million voted for him. That is less than 1/4 and a long way from half. Your one of the few that will admit they supported him now. Since he took office the unemployment remains above 10%. He has added 30 million to the welfare train. 1/2 the nation is on food stamps. There are 70 different welfare programs. 69 have shown to make one worse off than before getting on the program. It robs a person of his pride and self worth.
The Constitution guarantees every state in the Union a Republican form of government? So is the Democratic party unconstitutional then? It does have a Republican form of government specified.
LOOK BOTTOM LINE THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY IS MADE UP OF TWO TYPES OF VERMIN. 1. THE POWER HUNGRY CORRUPT CRIMINALS WHO RUN THE SHOW AND 2 THE DUMBER THAN A BOX OF ROCKS THAT VOTE FOR THEM WHO HAVEN'T WORKED A DAY IN THEIR LIFE AND ALWAYS VOTE FOR THE ONE WHO HAS THE MOST ICE CREAM. THESE TREE STUMPS COULDN'T TELL THE CONSTITUTION FROM A TERRORIST SHOPPING LIST. IF VOTER AGE WAS CHANGED TO IQ THE PARTY WOULD END TOMORROW AND THE LEADERS JAILED BY NOON. GET A CLUE MINDLESS SHEEP. MORONS, IDIOTS
@badbob85037 Hahahahah, how do you think a party that managed to elect someone to be the president consists of people who haven't worked a day in their life? Last I checked the unemployment rate isn't ~50%.
@BenkaiDebussy I think you proved my point. Your writings show your limited ability and an IQ that matches your shoe size. Sorry, I didn't know it as your mother. Maybe you should tried a little harder to keep her off the street. A good way to do that would trade in your broom at the kennel, finish the 8th grade, and get you a good job at Jack in the Box or KFC. She told me you need to get your own place and damn, clean up your room.
"Sir, I am in the hands of a merciful God. I have full confidence in his goodness and mercy...The Bible is true. I have tried to conform to its spirit as near as possible. Upon that sacred volume I rest my hope for eternal salvation, through the merits and blood of our blessed Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ."—Andrew Jackson--Andrew Jackson and the Course of American Freedom, 519—Democrats need to get back to their spiritual Christian roots, not abortion and all forms of sin.
I agree that the Democrats have been weak tea for a while. I am always a bit squeamish at progressive Democrat-bashing, though, because it seems to lead to sorry displays like the 2000 Nader candidacy.
Unfortunately, until the US adopts a European-style parliamentary system, complete with publicly financed elections - which seems unlikely anytime soon - the Dems are really the only game in town.
America and the World for that matter need a philosophy that will be fair to all (keeping in mind the real meaning of fair) and do the best job of solving problems. Liberalism has a proven historical and factual track record of doing a poor job in both of these areas. Only a natural society free of artificial ideas and laws will ever create a well balanced society. Our latest economic meltdown was a good example of what happens when artificial laws are put into place.
I would not donate 1 cent to a party that supports Obamass who has bankrupt this nation and walked all over our Constitution!! And don't say george bush did it all when there was job groth, 2 trillion in debt and i know he was no good but what is Obamass excuse for 200 trillion in debt unless you don't mind handing over all of your money to supprt big goverment and lazy people who sit at home makeing babies thinking they deserve what we work hard for!!! Progressive get out of my country!!
Both the Republicans and Democrats are owned by Wallstreet.
What the United States needs is a true "United States Labor Party" that will stand for the interests of the Working and Middle Classes, this Party should follow in the tradition of the earlier progressive movements, the number1 Issue should be to nationalise the Federal Reserve and put Congress in control of the issuence of Money, other issues Glass-Steagle Act, exit from NAFTA, GATT, WTO, Re-Industrialisation of the US.
@ProsperityGlobal You won't be able to reindustrialize the U.S. by pulling out of these treaties, it's too late. There is too much competition in the world and the level of protectionism they would erect against us would be staggering. We must insist on better working conditions and environmental standards in the developing world at the WTO in exchange for decreased farm subsidies in Eur and Ame That reform combined with reducing taxes on international business is the only way to compete
the majority or Americans are moderate. extremism on either side is not what we need. And it's clear that the far left agenda that has been happening is not working, nor will ever work in this country.
Bottom line. Liberals and "progressives" are people who want a FREE LUNCH... on YOUR DOLLAR. And they reason that it's socially proper to do that... then they go on to justify STEALING and THEFT. That is what redistribution of wealth IS. Stealing. They will say "that guy has enough money"... and want to steal it. How about this novel idea for "progressives". Get an education, work your tail off and CREATE YOUR OWN FRIGGIN' WEALTH... lazy-assed self-entitled thieves, with an explaination..
People that want to dig in your wallet like a thief and tell you how to run your life are destroying America. Christians are not doing anything but speaking the truth. At least we're not murdering babies, religious haters in a country that allows religious freedom. You all don't even know what America stands for. We have freedom of religion, why don't you intolerant haters understand that. You will NEVER take away our rights and freedoms. You will fail like all the others who have tried.
one has to ask, why would we stay with Obama if brown's main point was to make sure health care wasn't passed? i mean really? is that what we wanted? thank you for figuring that out for me Mr. Cohen, i never would have.
The Constitution and Bill of Rights are cherished by all conservatives of every party affiliation.
Progressives both democrat and republican, HATE those limiting founding documents. Progressive success is rooted in working around the Constitution. Progressives reward and applaud unconstitutional policy.
TheRealNews is nothing but a progressive wolf in sheep's clothing intent on keeping you within the left/right paradigm, thereby censoring the true debate.
The progressives have infiltrated both parties and are in control of the democrats. The change people want is in how the government functions, the FED, the education system, and real healthcare reform...not the socialist crap that the progressives peddle. I am very happy that all the progressives came out of the shadows.
"real healthcare reform...not the socialist crap that the progressives peddle." Ha! I would rather have Socialized Healthcare in America than having a broken "kiss my ass" healthcare system where Americans have to pay so much to make the greedy health insurance and Pharm. CEO's rich!
Wannabe patriots who mindless follow a half-term Alaskan governor in the deranged belief that she is a "success" while defending and promoting corporate interests (in the guise of defending individual rights) have no right to be calling anyone else "sheep."
Your herd mentality is quite apparent to everyone but you it seems.
Palin is not a viable candidate. She is not the leader of the tea party movement. I do not think she should have stepped down as governor either. Barry and the clowns just received major contributions from big corporations including big oil in the last week. Pay attention. Patriotism?
I took the oath and I am a man of my word. Now "individual rights" is a right-wing propoganda catch phrase? You should stick close to the local campus where your garbage is more easily digested.
I didn't say individual rights were a right-wing catch phrase - I said that the Right are in fact promoting a corporatist agenda in the name of individual rights which is actually a complete contradiction.
Had the Tea Parties organized six or seven years ago to protest the illegal wiretaps, fraudulent wars, indefinite detentions, torture, 10 billion dollars a month in Iraq - then perhaps I would have more respect for the cause.
As it stands, you're all collectively full of shit.
Please! Spare me your Patrick Henry-esque anti-statist claptrap. You are statists of a different stripe.
You support a bloated military-industrial complex, you have again - through silent consent - allowed for state invasion of privacy, you have no qualms when it comes to states dictating social institutions (i.e. gay marriage bans, a woman's right to her own body, etc...) these are not only statist but are more totalitarian and dangerous than anything President Obama has proposed.
Also, may I remind you - in case you didn't know the history - that the original Boston Tea Party was actually an anti-corporate protest against the East India Company.
It was a protest against GB taxes. The tea was on a EITC ship. Check out Indias flag.Glad you can read minds..must do you a lot of good. I support the troops. I am opposed to any invasion of privacy. I am against same sex marriage. (tax breaks / adoption)Pro-choice, as it is none of the governments business. The world is not black and white, but many shades of gray. Wisdom comes from life experiences. You would do well to read more....and spew rhetoric less.
@funwidude I am not necessarily referring to you but if you consider yourself part of the Tea Party circuit then I must attack what I see as a platform as a whole.
However, considering your own stated position on issues you don't have as much in common with your fellow Tea Partiers as one might think with the obvious exception being taxes.
And I know the world is not black & white, but many of whom you share a platform with do see things that way, perhaps you should rethink your politics ;)
Go to a tea party event and see for yourself. That is what I did. They are the normal, everyday, typically non-political people that make this country great. They are basically constitutionalists. Their image is constantly attacked by liberals and MSNBC....no big surprise. I watch/listen to all mediums and see the difference between the "right/left". Good luck to you...except in politics ofcourse.
@funwidude I have no doubt there are decent people among Tea Party (though one would never know it from the many pictures of racist/xenophobic signs at Tea Party events, not to mention Tancredo's comments at the Nashville event).
As I said, I would have more respect for them had they risen up years ago when our our civil liberties were actively being infringed upon.
Their sudden surge to prominence so soon after Obama's election and in reaction to healthcare smells suspiciously of AstroTurf.
Nobody likes current healthcare related expenses, including premiums, copays, and out-of-pocket costs. Hence the term "Real healthcare reform". What a shock that a "self employed artist" wants socialism. Get a job.
funwidude, Universal Healthcare in America would help a lot of people including you! Under Universal Healthcare system, if you lose your job you would still be medically covered. Under America's crappy privatized healthcare system, if you lose your job, ......you better get yourself a shovel because you would be in deep shit when you find out the high cost of getting health insurance etc.
This would give government more control of the economy and intrusions into our lives. Why did the Canadian PM fly to the US last week for surgery? In Great Britian they have started going into peoples homes to inventory the pantries. Get real. The governments job is not to create a nanny/police/welfare state. We need real healthcare reform.
@funwidude, Danny Williams came to the US to see a heart specialist because he said there weren't any in his Province. The thing is, Danny Williams is still under Canadian's healthcare system and his healthcare system will cover him, but Canada's healthcare system is better than America's privatized healthcare. What you should be worry about is Fascism in America. Look what the Supreme Court did by giving Corporations the green-light.
The Canadian healthcare system is not better. They have no heart specialists? What a joke. I am absolutely concerned about fascism and corporatism. I do not support that decision. Look at the democratic donations in the last week and by whom. Ofcourse, scum like Sorros have been going around that for years. And donations from foreign interests. Research how GE has their hand in all the whitehouse agenda. How about lobbyists? The constitution of OUR Republic must be restored.
@funwidude: The progressives are in control? That's rich. I mean, really -- I'm crackin' up.
Or maybe you're right. Progressives must be in control! That's why we've pulled out of Afghanistan, aggressive global warming legislation is in place, and we finally have single payer health care!
Puh-leez. We can't even get a public option, out of our damn party, no less. Progressives in control - hardy frickin' har-har.
well some analysts and even politicians here are pretty blunt about point of the social aspect - simply to avoid civil unrest, as in "demobilize the base", the core aspect that all of our western society is built around is protecting the rich
most states are hurting right now- red or blue. I'd like to know if you have specific evidence showing the program to be a failure- or are you just using a ubiquitous downturn in state budgets for partisan purposes.
THe point is that healthcare reform gave conservatives something to rally against, but wasn't strong enough to rally progressives. Independents saw that neither side was happy with the bill as it stands and were scared away.
I know that's a little too complicated for most conservatives to understand, but it makes sense if you take a moment to think about it, which might be the source of your comprehension problem.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Americans do not want a full government take over of health care and everyone knows that the "public option" is no option at all, it is designed purely as a full takeover (and unconstitutional to boot).
So stop lying you leftist shills, no one is buying that lie anymore.
Than explain how it is that you think I am for a furthering of illegal government programs. The only people that want that are those that simply don't care what the constitution says or means and simply want their way no matter what the legalities or economic realities are.
Oh i love how economic liberal people come with "illegal actions" and the "constitution" when it comes to their mind. How is it,that the US gov. gives so little about the constitution since the start and nobody seemed to care. Why to start now?
If you want to make up the rules as you go you may as well accept the resulting dissolution of the nation right now. Or maybe you can learn something from history.
The Weimar Republic is a fairly modern example of what happens when a constitution is made irrelevant. Please look it up.
kmg501, look at all other advanced nations in the world and compare their health statistics to those of the us, what youl see is that we have the worst statistics and the highest cost per capita, and no one else uses corporatized healthcare. who do you want running your health system, a ceo that profits by cutting your care, or an impeachable official whom you elect?
"unconstitutional to boot"? can you give a reference or are you just trying to scare people who haven't read the constitution.
What you don't understand is that the World Health Organization is a arm of the United Nations. The data they present is false and based dissimilar models. It is no accident that these statistics are manipulated.
You show me where in the constitution where national health care is an enumerated power. Please go ahead and try.
What you also don't understand is that before the illegal Medicaid & Medicare programs insurance and medical costs were affordable by blue collar Americans.
Why would the UN slant its statistics to harm its most powerful member (the US)?. It seems like the powers that be (many us corporations are more powerful than many nations) would use their influence to slant the statistics in their favor. I think your conclusions are speculative at best. If you allow yourself to simply assume conspiracy when data is inconsistent with our opinion, then you discredit your cause. lets stick to talking about whats best for the people.
It's not speculative, it's already proven. We know that certain metrics are ignored. Such as the always touted infant mortality. In the US we attempt to save premature babies that other countries don't even try because they don't have the ability or facilities. This is the main measure that is used against us even though it is a massive sleight of hand in the accounting.
even if we use data from NGOs or direct poling, (data not collected by political organizations) the conclusion about the cost efficiency and effectiveness of healthcare systems around the world is the same.
As a final note, how do you feel about car insurance being required (it is)? If you think mandatory insurance is unconstitutional (its not) you have to let uninsured drivers on the road. If these drivers cause a collision, the victim is stuck with the costs. is that good or bad
Car insurance is wholly different in several ways. The first is the law. The fact is that in the US people don't actually take the Manufacture Statement of Origin to a vehicle. The state always holds this and is in law co-owner. (remember the rule about 9/10's of possession..). Because of this little known trick they are able to force the resulting cascade of insurance and registration fees.
I thought your point was that mandatory insurance is unconstitutional, are you now saying that a loophole makes mandatory car insurance legal while we don't have such a loophole for health insurance (Thats a terrible argument)?
You are not differentiating topics. All insurance is not created equal because the basis is not the same, I just got done explaining that to you. And Badnarik is a perfectly good start for laymen which is why I started there. But you will find his arguments have more than enough support in factual legal application.
I also did look up Badnariks constitution class. Did you know Badnarik has no degree (not even undergrad), and is a computer programmer? I hardly feel like i can be comfortable taking his advice on constitutional law.
You own your body, this is the first and most important thing you will ever own in your life. Giving the govt control of a medical system is a relinquishing ownership of your body. Some people think the General Welfare clause covers the federal govt for providing these services but modest study of the constitution proves that there is no basis for that claim. There is no such thing as a living breathing document. That is a very dangerous construction subject to whimsy.
So you think its better for a CEO to control your healthcare system and profit off of its inefficiency while people go bankrupt and die? is it a good thing that unavoidable medical costs are the primary cause of bankruptcy in the US? wouldn't it be better to have an elected impeachable official in charge, someone you can replace if they mess up, someone who doesn't profit off of the sick?
No, of course I don't want a CEO to control my health care system. Just like i don't want a bureaucrat to control it. Do you know what I want to control it? My purchasing power. The greatest equalizer is purchasing power. Purchasing power has consistently led to innovation, efficiency, competition, better service and TADA! Reduced costs.
Govt, produces EXACTLY the opposite. Before Medicaid&Medicare blue collar workers could easily afford medical insurance. Check that with NBER.
Are you saying that there isn't actually a problem with the corporatized healthcare system in the usa? we are the only country in the world that lets corporations run its healthcare system, if your hypothesis is true (free market healthcare increases efficiency) then why isn't our system phenomenally superior to the rest of the world?
Ahh! Now you got to a good question. Yes, you are most certainly right. The medical system has been as you say corporatized.
GUESS WHO is responsible for that... If you said the federal govt you would be right! You see there is this thing called collusion. It is what big govt & big business does for different reasons and unfortunately it has been going on a long time and it totally undermines COMPETITION.
@kmg501 purchasing power, beurocrats and CEOs are all bad ways of controlling healthcare. It should be down to doctors and nurses (and scientists working on the drugs)- they are the ones who have day to day knowledge of the running of the hospitals, they know what is needed, where resources should be best distributed.
you realize that would be best abtained by universal health care. where the doctor does what is needed then she sends the bill to the gov't who pays the doc,
President Obama was voted by the center-left in this country. He needs to understand that or lose and become a one-hit wonder! Catering away from your base who brought you into the office is foolish Mr. President! Grow some nuts! But I think it is too late.
good. people are realizing that the democrats and republicans both cannot deliver. i predict that in the next election americans will want what appears to be their 'friend' and not a 'savior.' let's focus our anger, and disenchantment by starting socialist-libertarian/anarcho-syndicalist movements at the community level. the people, isolated, fragmented can have the power to band together and deliver when the corporate, military-industrial state won't/can't.
Many people will vote their pocketbook. They will ask themselves if they are better off than they were since the last election. That will define their voting.
The left, or what passes for the left, feels the need to compromise in virtually every situation and somehow manages to convince itself that its right-wing "partners" will be reasonable. They never are. Again and again progressives dig their own graves by trying to win the trust of conservative reactionaries. The only way to win is through uncompromising and decisive action - never give in, never back down.
he's talking to people like me. i'm not american nor can i fallow all these words being used in the comment section. if he's not saying anything to you.. go to the next RN video
Yeah then all of the companies will also move overseas making sure we have no jobs at all. Blackwater will be the new Military and the Tea party people will be happy as hell living in the trailer with all of their guns with not a dime of money and unemployed.
He won't run again, but yeah, the point is to get real reform it has to come from a third party that is not beholden to the current system. I don't think Ron Paul would run again, and I don't trust his son. I still like Kucinich at this point, but we need get outside of the two parties, like you said.
This question wasn't asked in polling, but I suspect that a lot of Obama voters who stayed home or switched to Brown may have been strategically voting to take out the health insurance mandate in the Senate bill by taking out the Democratic supermajority. They were hugely in favor of the public option and against the mandate. I think it was an unorganized, spontaneous grassroots strategy to kill the bill.
He wont be able to hold together the coalition of voters that supported him in 08. Doesnt matter who the republican is, they will turn out for thier guy, just drop a few words about god. well nobody can predict the future but thats just how I see it.
this guy lives in fantasy land, fake left go right ... what rubbish . Obama was elected on Change you know, no lobbyist no more iraq war no more back room deals, Transparency and what has he done EVERYTHING OPPOSITE OF what he campaigned on. THATS WHY most Americans don't like him .. Most people wanted less of all those things and yet he keeps truckin down the road like Government Take overs of everything is what we want when its not. As much has Obama want to blame bush he is Worse.
Those divisions are artificial perceptions that the media has fed you. They are not based on any objective measures.
Both political parties favors the small rich special interest minorities. This is why 3rd parties aren't allowed in the debates, aren't covered by the media, and have to struggle to even get their names on the ballot: they represent real competition.
Crap. This party hack trying to tell independent voters who they are and what they believe. The ooze seeping out of his ears isn't excessive brain matter, it's pure crap. Leave it to TRNN to parade another big gov progressive hack as an authority on who votes and why they do. Big gov is drowning this country in debt, and the progressive are demanding even more spending. What a bunch of idiots.
Dear Lord, in the past year you have taken away my favorite actor, Patrick Swayze, my favorite actress, Brittany Murphy, my favorite muscian, Michael Jackson, my favorite salesman, Billie Mays, and my favorite athlete Chris Henry. I just wanted to let you know my favorite president is Barack Obama.
I'll say it again, these "let" and "right" words are getting nearly meaningless. They have completely different meanings (nearly opposite) depending on who is talking about it. You hear a news reporter talk about the right, and he's talking about everything bush did. You have some college kid and they are talking about no war, and constitutional values.
The left seems to span from nearly neocon to no war and heavy social aid.
I went to ithaca college, and i am a white swing voter. Obama is getting voted out, because he isn't doing what he said he was, and he is fucking up the nation.
I agree, but you can't vote GOP. When was the last time one of them actually did good for our country? Not Bush or Bush? Reagan gave us trickledown, and started the slide we're in now. Ford or Nixon? Eisenhower! Now he didn't try to destroy the nation from within. And what does the GOP have to offer? Palin, Pawlenty, Jindal? God forbid Beck. They're so far right they have nothing constructive to offer. Our only hope is for an outsider, Paul, Kucinich, Perot type, to get a miracle upset.
You may end up getting stuck with Obama. I voted for Reagan twice, and Clinton twice - lesser of two evils in both cases. So, the trick is to push Obama in the direction you want. Write letters, sign petitions, join movements to send the message. He does listen. That's part of the problem. Progressives aren't loud enough, so what he hears is the Faux News Tea Baggers. He needs to hear more powerful voices coming from progressives to force him to the change we believed in.
Liberals are liars. Liars are liberals.

TheRationalBeing 9 months ago
@TheRationalBeing I said "Can you really believe that private companies are the cause of high unemployment rates?" You then said, "UM Yeah, I can." Later you said, "I didn't say that government created jobs." If businesses aren't creating jobs and government isn't creating jobs than who will?
eggplant1905 9 months ago
@eggplant1905 Well if the private companies didn't hire back the same amount of people they had working before, then yes, they are part of the reason for the high unemployment. That has nothing to do with job creation. You brought up a good question. "If neither are creating jobs, then who will?" That is still to be seen. It will come from the private sector when they are ready.
What was the cause of the economic collapse that resulted in high unemployment rates? The private sector.

kaewonf8 10 months ago
@kaewonf8 The lesson of the collapse of all socialist systems is you can't plan an economy and you can't plan a recovery - it's too complicated. Money is called liquidity because it can energize all levels of the economy like water does in the body. Obama has had his stimulus package and middle class tax cuts and still there are very few jobs being created. A massive infusion of cash into the financial system via a capital gains, dividends and top marginal rate tax cut is the only way.

As if in 2006, 15 million people all decided to quit their jobs and go on welfare because it is so much easier and such a good living. I'm sure it had nothing to do with major US corporations laying people off and firing them, and blame the bad manners on regulation. If you believe in this, you are wrong.

Your herd mentality is quite apparent to everyone but you it seems.
mikepalomino 2 years ago
Palin is not a viable candidate. She is not the leader of the tea party movement. I do not think she should have stepped down as governor either. Barry and the clowns just received major contributions from big corporations including big oil in the last week. Pay attention. Patriotism?
I took the oath and I am a man of my word. Now "individual rights" is a right-wing propoganda catch phrase? You should stick close to the local campus where your garbage is more easily digested.
funwidude 2 years ago
I didn't say individual rights were a right-wing catch phrase - I said that the Right are in fact promoting a corporatist agenda in the name of individual rights which is actually a complete contradiction.
Had the Tea Parties organized six or seven years ago to protest the illegal wiretaps, fraudulent wars, indefinite detentions, torture, 10 billion dollars a month in Iraq - then perhaps I would have more respect for the cause.
As it stands, you're all collectively full of shit.
mikepalomino 2 years ago
Both parties have a corporate agenda. Your respect is of no concern to anyone other than yourself....and the other statists.
funwidude 2 years ago
Please! Spare me your Patrick Henry-esque anti-statist claptrap. You are statists of a different stripe.
You support a bloated military-industrial complex, you have again - through silent consent - allowed for state invasion of privacy, you have no qualms when it comes to states dictating social institutions (i.e. gay marriage bans, a woman's right to her own body, etc...) these are not only statist but are more totalitarian and dangerous than anything President Obama has proposed.
mikepalomino 2 years ago
Also, may I remind you - in case you didn't know the history - that the original Boston Tea Party was actually an anti-corporate protest against the East India Company.
mikepalomino 2 years ago
Research from blogs, huh? Smart.
It was a protest against GB taxes. The tea was on a EITC ship. Check out Indias flag.Glad you can read minds..must do you a lot of good. I support the troops. I am opposed to any invasion of privacy. funwidude 2 years ago
And I know the world is not black & white, but many of whom you share a platform with do see things that way, perhaps you should rethink your politics ;)
mikepalomino 2 years ago
Go to a tea party event and see for yourself. That is what I did. They are the normal, everyday, typically non-political people that make this country great. They are basically constitutionalists. Their image is constantly attacked by liberals and MSNBC....no big surprise. I watch/listen to all mediums and see the difference between the "right/left". Good luck to you...except in politics ofcourse.

@funwidude I have no doubt there are decent people among Tea Party (though one would never know it from the many pictures of racist/xenophobic signs at Tea Party events, not to mention Tancredo's comments at the Nashville event).

THe point is that healthcare reform gave conservatives something to rally against, but wasn't strong enough to rally progressives. Independents saw that neither side was happy with the bill as it stands and were scared away.

"unconstitutional to boot"? can you give a reference or are you just trying to scare people who haven't read the constitution.
aSheeple 2 years ago 7
@aSheeple
What you don't understand is that the World Health Organization is a arm of the United Nations. The data they present is false and based dissimilar models. It is no accident that these statistics are manipulated.
You show me where in the constitution where national health care is an enumerated power. Please go ahead and try.
What you also don't understand is that before the illegal Medicaid & Medicare programs insurance and medical costs were affordable by blue collar Americans.
kmg501 2 years ago
kmg,
Why would the UN slant its statistics to harm its most powerful member (the US)?. It seems like the powers that be (many us corporations are more powerful than many nations) would use their influence to slant the statistics in their favor. I think your conclusions are speculative at best. If you allow yourself to simply assume conspiracy when data is inconsistent with our opinion, then you discredit your cause. lets stick to talking about whats best for the people.
aSheeple 2 years ago
@aSheeple
It's not speculative, it's already proven. We know that certain metrics are ignored. Such as the always touted infant mortality. In the US we attempt to save premature babies that other countries don't even try because they don't have the ability or facilities. This is the main measure that is used against us even though it is a massive sleight of hand in the accounting.
kmg501 2 years ago
kmg501, cont.
even if we use data from NGOs or direct poling, (data not collected by political organizations) the conclusion about the cost efficiency and effectiveness of healthcare systems around the world is the same.
As a final note, how do you feel about car insurance being required (it is)? If you think mandatory insurance is unconstitutional (its not) you have to let uninsured drivers on the road. If these drivers cause a collision, the victim is stuck with the costs. is that good or bad
aSheeple 2 years ago
@aSheeple
Look up Michael Badnarik - Constitution Class.
Continued:
kmg501 2 years ago
kmg501,
I thought your point was that mandatory insurance is unconstitutional, are you now saying that a loophole makes mandatory car insurance legal while we don't have such a loophole for health insurance (Thats a terrible argument)?
Or are you just trying to avoid the point?
aSheeple 2 years ago
@aSheeple
You are not differentiating topics. All insurance is not created equal because the basis is not the same, I just got done explaining that to you. And Badnarik is a perfectly good start for laymen which is why I started there. But you will find his arguments have more than enough support in factual legal application.

Some people think the General Welfare clause covers the federal govt for providing these services but modest study of the constitution proves that there is no basis for that claim. There is no such thing as a living breathing document. That is a very dangerous construction subject to whimsy.

kmg501,
So you think its better for a CEO to control your healthcare system and profit off of its inefficiency while people go bankrupt and die? is it a good thing that unavoidable medical costs are the primary cause of bankruptcy in the US? wouldn't it be better to have an elected impeachable official in charge, someone you can replace if they mess up, someone who doesn't profit off of the sick?
aSheeple 2 years ago
@aSheeple
Check that with NBER.
kmg501 2 years ago
kmg501,
Are you saying that there isn't actually a problem with the corporatized healthcare system in the usa? we are the only country in the world that lets corporations run its healthcare system, if your hypothesis is true (free market healthcare increases efficiency) then why isn't our system phenomenally superior to the rest of the world?
These are my closing comments.

It should be down to doctors and nurses (and scientists working on the drugs)- they are the ones who have day to day knowledge of the running of the hospitals, they know what is needed, where resources should be best distributed.
leiwy 2 years ago
you realize that would be best abtained by universal health care. where the doctor does what is needed then she sends the bill to the gov't who pays the doc,

I wish the media would start talking to more actual progressives. Do you think the real news could get an interview with Kucinich?
131gB 2 years ago
Alan Grayson has gotten many interviews. So progressives are getting interviews on shows like Kieth Olbermann or Ed Schultz.
captcrais101 2 years ago
True, but they're the exceptions to the rule.

Many people will vote their pocketbook. They will ask themselves if they are better off than they were since the last election. That will define their voting.

People should be aware that the current govement is SO MUCH better than the republicans.
A shame to see all the hate on barack.
SiouxSyndicate 2 years ago
that's right, b/c a change in rhetoric makes that much of a difference. The puppet makes no difference, America is a militaristic plutocracy.
Pomeray8 2 years ago
The left, or what passes for the left, feels the need to compromise in virtually every situation and somehow manages to convince itself that its right-wing "partners" will be reasonable. They never are. Again and again progressives dig their own graves by trying to win the trust of conservative reactionaries. The only way to win is through uncompromising and decisive action - never give in, never back down.

Why not give everything to the RIGHT WING---
The rich will get richer.
We will all be out of work.
The jobs are all overseas.
None of us will have health care.
All Gov. will be private and cost dbl.
Corp. America will rule all of us.
Then maybe the stupids will wake up.
( Oh, too late, now we get hit with Marshal Law)
rickbar123 2 years ago 3
Yeah then all of the companies will also move overseas making sure we have no jobs at all. Blackwater will be the new Military and the Tea party people will be happy as hell living in the trailer with all of their guns with not a dime of money and unemployed.

rickbar123 2 years ago
He won't run again, but yeah, the point is to get real reform it has to come from a third party that is not beholden to the current system. I don't think Ron Paul would run again, and I don't trust his son. I still like Kucinich at this point, but we need get outside of the two parties, like you said.
ONQproductions 2 years ago
This question wasn't asked in polling, but I suspect that a lot of Obama voters who stayed home or switched to Brown may have been strategically voting to take out the health insurance mandate in the Senate bill by taking out the Democratic supermajority. They were hugely in favor of the public option and against the mandate. I think it was an unorganized, spontaneous grassroots strategy to kill the bill.

For you to try to predict, with certainty no less, what will happen in three years is ridiculous- and you ought to realize that.

Rep's,
Dem's no difference, only rhetoric, throw all the bums out.
Oh and to blame Obama for no change, I believe when you have a corporate military complex that controls the media, THEY CONTROL THE MEDIA!
I'm not a pelosi or Ried fan, they both suck,
so Obama is attacked on the right and there is no defense from the left.
Neither party wants to ween themselves from the corporate feed trough.
ONLY WE CAN DO THAT.

Why does the "real" news still use terms like "Left" and "Right" as if they actually represent real ideologies. They don't.
schulwitz 2 years ago
Right: favours rich minority over majority interests.
Left:favours majority interests over minority whims.
I ain't seen that change ever. Even the way most politicians represent themselves: ie: falsely, has not changed.
NicosNicosNicosNicos 2 years ago
@NicosNicosNicosNicos
Those divisions are artificial perceptions that the media has fed you. They are not based on any objective measures.
Both political parties favors the small rich special interest minorities. This is why 3rd parties aren't allowed in the debates, aren't covered by the media, and have to struggle to even get their names on the ballot: they represent real competition.
schulwitz 2 years ago
What a bunch of idiots.
bbburton 2 years ago

Target the fed. When the people realize that the funny money machine has gone absolutely batshit the argument about "spending" becomes moot.

That's what Christianity is all about- asking god to kill the people you don't like. Just like Jesus- he would be so proud.
tristramshandy3 2 years ago
I'll say it again, these "let" and "right" words are getting nearly meaningless. They have completely different meanings (nearly opposite) depending on who is talking about it. You hear a news reporter talk about the right, and he's talking about everything bush did. You have some college kid and they are talking about no war, and constitutional values.
The left seems to span from nearly neocon to no war and heavy social aid.
These words have really lost meaning.

I went to ithaca college, and i am a white swing voter. Obama is getting voted out, because he isn't doing what he said he was, and he is fucking up the nation.
hugegiantfrogs 2 years ago 2
I agree, but you can't vote GOP. When was the last time one of them actually did good for our country? Not Bush or Bush? Reagan gave us trickledown, and started the slide we're in now. Ford or Nixon? Eisenhower! Now he didn't try to destroy the nation from within. And what does the GOP have to offer? Palin, Pawlenty, Jindal? God forbid Beck. They're so far right they have nothing constructive to offer. Our only hope is for an outsider, Paul, Kucinich, Perot type, to get a miracle upset.
ONQproductions 2 years ago 3
You may end up getting stuck with Obama. I voted for Reagan twice, and Clinton twice - lesser of two evils in both cases. So, the trick is to push Obama in the direction you want. Write letters, sign petitions, join movements to send the message. He does listen. That's part of the problem. Progressives aren't loud enough, so what he hears is the Faux News Tea Baggers. He needs to hear more powerful voices coming from progressives to force him to the change we believed in.
