WRT to the mystery of the Incarnation: you have pretty much hit the nail on the head. God the Word, who is pre-eternal, took on human flesh & condescended to be born of a virgin, as was prophesied in Isaiah. See Isaiah 9:6 especially. This prophesy of who the Messiah would be is throughout the Old Testament. I don't understand why Muslims believe in the Messiah, but don't believe He came to do much.

Actually many names can compare to other things but when Allah ads "THE" ahead of those attributes it specifically refers to him. I.e Anybody can be Merciful but nobody is "THE" Merciful apart from Allah. However all the names and attributes of Allah are mentioned and so its not befiting for us to make any up for him. In sura ikhlas (chapter sencerity) Allah says "And there is nothing comparable to him".
