You know, they actually sell cigarette load charges for this exact purpose, and they're designed to be loud but not damaging. That might be a lot more fun and effective than a firecracker or other charge in the cig. I saw his hand with the cig in it next to his ear a couple of times. Glad it turned out funny, though.
