There were so MANY other ways that he could have prevented all of this from happening... He could have not gotten in that car while he was drunk, he could have fulfilled his role as designated driver and not have gotten drunk at all; there were so many ways that Mary Jo Kopechne could have lived.

They didn't have 9-11 back then; in fact, they didn't have cell phones either. There is no way that he could have saved MJK.

Think about it; it was dark, there were no streetlights, they were lost anyway, so he wasn't familiar with the area, he was injured in the accident having suffered a concussion. He was lucky not to die himself!

The fact is that Mary Jo Kopechne would be VERY disapproving of your vile and degenerate conduct in these fora. She was a devout Christian who very much believed in forgiveness, salvation and the redemptive power of faith in Christ. If we go anywhere after we die, Ted is in the same place that Mary Jo is. In fact, as a campaigner she'd appeal 4 G-d's mercy on Ted's behalf.
