I just bought a new Ruger 77/17 in .17HMR and fitted on a Leopold 6.4-24 x 40mm scope. I am completely amazed at it`s accuracy and consistency. I am no great shot, but luckily the rifle will outshoot me. I am grouping 9 shots (1 magazine) within 1&1/4" at 185 metres! If I hadn`t actually done it, I wouldn`t have believed it was possible!
Nice rifle! Ihave the same with the other color stock. I think it is royal jacoranda or something like that. What is that scope? I have a bsa sweet 17 still on the fence with it.
I have a marlin 917VS (mothing special but for $175 with 1 round through it not to bad) and a BSA 6-18X40 I got a 1/3" group at 75 yards but with a real rest I think 1" at 100 is easily possible.
umm im looking at a savage BVTS .17HMR thumbhole stock, is the rifle any good and is there any diasadvatages of the rifle in hunting? and also what is a good scope recomendation,
i have one and got 11/2 inch group at 100 yrds,, but i have only shot around 80 rounds,,do you think can do the same at 200yrs? with practice of course or have problem with the wind? another thing,, do you have a trouble with the magazine? mine is kind of loose and have trouble to put the bullet on the chamber ,have to push it up and so the bullet get inside the chamber,,,any suggestion or need to contact the manufacture for waranty?
I have the same problem with my .17. it could just be the clip, which are about 20 bucks for a new one. or it could be the gun just isnt broke in yet. thats what i figured with mine, but its so damn fun to shoot i didnt get to bothered by that one small problem. lol
93FVSS - is 6pounds vs 7.5 without a scope. synthetic stock which can take a beating and wont be effected by moisture.BTVS is better suited for bi-pods and resting but can be used to hunt. basically your choice. personally i wouldnt be resting my laminated stock on anything other than bags or a gun rest. the marlin is a good gun but i prefer the savage. cz is another one to look in to
I rest my BTVS on rocks, logs and anything else nearby and it holds up just fine. I've shot hundreds of rabbits, cats, foxes, crows and even a small pig with mine. The stock is great to use offhand as well.
groovy stock bro...
