That it true, there is a lot of poverty near to home...for us in the UK though, this is near to home as well, and unlike the US where there at least might be one or two charities working for the local people, Moldovan people and much of Eastern Europe often aren't so lucky. I hope your work for your people goes well.

It is amazing that people would travel thousands of miles to help someone unknown to them but forgetting their neighbors. I used to provide some medical assistance in North Carolina, USA, I was shocked to see people in the 21st century in the US living with NO electricity, gas, living in broken down mobile homes and all they had to eat was cold unsold pizzas that restaurants in the area would donate at the end of day. There were hundreds of families like that. Yet we go so far away to help

Amazing. I volunteer in orphanages in Moldova in Summer, and I'm passionate about helping these people. Thank you for expressing how I feel, that you don't have to travel far to find people in desperate need.
