@fordtruckman7878 Whats Ford, then? Chinese?? Well... I wouldnt be surprised if some chinese or some other BRIC's company bought Ford: 80% of their cars SUCKS BALLS! Go have a lecture with Volkswagen or Mercedes, Ford.
And to think idiots will go out and buy this because they think they will be safe. A standard size car will protect you better than this into a ridged object, whilst not overriding other cars in a collision, therefore making the roads safer for all.
these model are the cheaper ones ...that are built and sent to my country and other third world places...... and the people here are stupid are blinded by their ego's so the buy them ............( thats why i drive a Land Rover Defender )
This is a euro ranger it would never pass USA standers and would not in a million years pass Canadian. They build them there cheaper tosave money and this is what happens
@MichaelLarson29 Honestly mate, no idea why you are pointing at Europe. Euro NCAP has the strictest safety tetst of all and this would not get on the road here. Which may explain why I have never ever seen one of them anywhere in Europe I have been.
People are dumb, they all think that when a car deforms like that, it's bad. When really it's absorbing the impact so the driver doesn't get the shit knocked out of him.
Lol if you want the cabin of your car to do THAT, then go right ahead and buy one of those. Personally I like the idea of surviving and not having the cabin of my car breached.
This is NOT the same Ranger sold in the US and Canada, it is the one sold in Mexico, Europe, and Asia. Its a totally different truck, built on a completely different platform, not even the engines are the same.
@BadHaddy Seriously doubt this one was actually sold as such in Europe. Euro NCAP has the strictest safety tests of all and this would not get on the road here. Which may explain why I have never ever seen one of them anywhere in Europe I have been.
americans suck big dick, no offence, but my uncle thought the same until he got an OPEL, a Toyota, a Mitsubishi, he liked the Mitsubishi & the Toyota the most, but all three were much better than the americans he owned.
I wanted one of these things.....luckily i decided to wait for the all new aussie 2012 model......going to see a crash test on that baby before i think of purchasing one......check out the Geely its a chines peice of poo and does a far better job.....come on FORD/MAZDA lift your game and get those thai's to build better utes
@Cycleian No they don't. Ford did not own Mazda when Mazda designed this particular vehicle, they bought part of Mazda afterwards. And Ford have since sold their share in Mazda. And Ford do not design all of Mazda's vehicles. Do some research before you make bold statements. Don't make statements on something you obviously have limited knowledge on.
This European Ranger is a Mazda badged as a Ford. The North American Ranger is a Ford design and performs much better in the offset 40mph test even though it is a much older design dating back to 1983. I don't understand why they didn't just sell the much tougher North American Ranger in Europe instead of this junk. I have lived in both of these parts of the world and owned both examples of Ranger so I have experience to base my opinion on.
I always thought the Mazda B series and the American Ranger were the same, as the ford Escape and Mazda tribute are the same. And the ranger shown here is the Brazilian version (bad manufactured). . Chek out the Ford EcoSport made in Brazil, just a piece of shiet.
@harmankardonbose Yeah the B series sold in North America is the same as the North American Ranger. It is a Ford design. The Mazda pickup sold in Europe though is a completely different vehicle which the European Ranger is based on and they're a Mazda design.
64 kmh is equal to 40 miles and as that it is crashing into a concret slab, the forces transmitted are equivilant to the same car travelling at 55 kmh and hitting the car with half the crumple zone. Pickups have notorioulsy always been bad at crash tests with a 5 star safety pickup being achieved only recently.
WHAT!? Thats laughable, 4x4's stopped crumpling like this 12 years ago! Every other manufacturer at least got 4 or 5 stars in 2008, trust it to be FORD! Lol
the ero Ranger ia really a Mazda old school with Mazda frame and body, not the US Ranger that you see in the states. the new 2010 ranger sold in asia and the Australia and the euro is now the same as the USA Ranger.
HAHA, Americans think their big SUVs are "safe." The chassis on that piece of junk seems to be made out of tin foil. For a giant car like that, I would expect it to be built like a rock. @ 60mph, you don't even see a dent on a German car doors. Hopefully we can shape up our shit and start to compete with the world before Hyundai starts releasing more $20,000 sports cars. Did you know that 50% of the cost of every American car goes to someone's pension?
The Ranger is sold on more continents in this world than the whole F series range combined. You forget, ANY vehicle that has a ladder chassis is prone to suffer from POOR crash test results. If you EVER watched ANY form of top level car racing, you will see that the vehicles dissipate on impact to SAVE THE DRIVER!..old school like the trucks, can handle huge impacts and suffing minimal damage BUT, the stored energy has to be removed somehow and guess who is next inline...YOU..
@TREVILZE I don't know what kind of bullshit racing cars your looking at. I'm more interested in the "real" racing cars at Le Mans and Formula F1 where they crash at 200mph, replace the front end in 20 minutes, and continue for another 14 hours. Those bullshit NASCAR stock cars are garbage and were only designed to turn in one direction for each race.
@BarackHOsama Next time watch on F1 what happens when they hit a barrier and if you have ever bothered to watch the making of an F1 car you would have known the car is desgined to break up on impact, wheels first...etc....I have NEVER seen in F1 or Le Man's a race car hit a barrier at 200mph and survive for a front end rebuild...LOL..Next time search for energy dissipation and understand how it impacts on car design...even race cars.
@TREVILZE So there are no crashes at 200mph? I have seen a LOT of crashes where the cars were doing ~200mph. Obviously a head on crash would be fatal, but they are also equipped with high end brakes and skilled drivers that are able to swerve and lessen the impact. Do you really think all their crashes are only at 40mph like this video? And YES, there are parts which crush on impact, but they are easily replaceable. The tub remains unscathed. If the whole car crumbles on impact ppl will die!
@ArticMuse it's rarly that i see this car on the road here , compared to F150 this is a crap and only crap , maybe it's a model produced in Europe or somewhere else ,
ive got a 96 bronco lifted with 37's and i wrecked it head on and the only thing i came out with was a bent bumper and bend on the drivers side of front axle lol the whole frame and body didnt collapse on impact! haha didnt even crack a headlight
@ArticMuse cause if a car would be made in 2 inch steel, the force on the driver would kill him on the hit. when it deform, it absorb a lot of energy....
good to know, but i wonder is this truck really focus on being used on the road or off road? impact at 64km/h on dirt road is just plain suicidal while using it on the road, there is a good chance if it going to hit something, it will hit a small cars where the truck still fare better according to the law of physic
guys dont comment badly on this until you see the nissan navara crah test with only half a star for crash protection in 2008! a rover 100 from years back was better than it!
this is the "global" version of the Ranger the rest of the world knows. Ford never used it in the US for this very reason, it wouldnt meet US saftey standards.
people in other countries think we live in the stone age cause some of our vehicles are outdated because even some brand new vehicles are very old designs. but they dont realize that there are good reasons we dont use the "global" models.
I have seen cars from the 70s survive better than that, guess this is Fords idea of a good truck for the Euro market, my dad had an Isuzu (which is Chevrolet underneath) cope much better
@04Wenban People don't buy American cars for their reliability, plain and simple. On an episode of Top Gear, Clarkson takes a 30 year old Toyota pickup, rams it several times into trees, drops it from cranes, submerges it in water overnight, and a host of other things, and it still worked! It required to be set on fire for it to finally stop working.
This is not the american version of the Ranger, because the Americna version doesn't twist like this in a offset crash. This is some shitty Euro version of the Ranger.
Of course they would work, it's an vital safety equipment that can save your life. Ford obviously spared no expensive when it comes to durability and safety.
If you review the test results over at NCAP, the survival rate (at least not without horrific injuries to legs) is quite slim. It didn't even score three stars.
Someone said that smaller cars get totalled and this type of car only requires a new bumper.
A crash is all about energy dissipation. Crumpling is by design. As long as the internal cage remains intact, I rather be in a small car with crumple zones than a big one that channels all the forces involved into the passengers...
any of you ever see what happens when a little honda civic, or toyota or some thing rear ends a real american made truck . the truck drives off and gets a new bumber the car is totaled
Pick up trucks in America dont have to be crash tested btw, because they are commercial vehicles. You will find that in a crash test they will crumple like a coke can!
Their are many different versions of the Ranger made in different parts of the world. The Thai versions are not that reliable from what I've read. The U.S versions are built MUCH MUCH better and run a lot longer.

Wow...this shows how much Ford cares about their consumers to even put their name on this death trap piece of shit...
I guess their mentality is that people in foreign countries don't deserve the same safety standards that we demand in the U.S.

Pick up trucks in America dont have to be crash tested btw, because they are commercial vehicles. You will find that in a crash test they will crumple like a coke can!

Correct.
Their are many different versions of the Ranger made in different parts of the world. The Thai versions are not that reliable from what I've read. The U.S versions are built MUCH MUCH better and run a lot longer.

Well, at least its a good form of population control.
