I'm a 5' 9", 125 pound, white veteran of America's Army (I drove an M1-A1 Abrams Tank) and I absolutely love this kind of shit.

Led Zeppelin (and Robert Plant, to this day) incorporate a lot of mystical, middle eastern sounds in their music.

And, since Zepp is my all time favorite band, I've grown partial to mystical-sounding, middle eastern music.

It may not be the REAL, 'Call To Prayer', but it's still pretty cool. Pretty damn cool.

@navh07 I originally encountered this as part of the soundtrack from Martin Scorsese's Last Temptation of Christ which could spark a whole new controversy. In the movie as in the novel, Christ is depicted as both god and man... a man with passions and doubts, agony and ecstasy. My Muslim relations consider Jesus to be "only" prophet. Not an easy job btw. While Christians see him as God and part of the Trinity. Jews may acknowledge the historical figure, but don't see him as god or prophet.

Baaba Maal,a most accomplished genius of the human vocal.Though he was raised Christian,he's childhood best friend was Muslim & he spent a lot of time with his friends family.He was first exposed to the Arabic styles of singing/music & became outstandingly good at it himself as you can hear.Not sure if he's a Muslim these days but it certainly did not matter to the warm family who welcomed him into their house and shared their culture.

Actually this is not an an Azan. It is a Zikr sang in wollof(local language of Senegal) .

Baaba Maal is from Senegal and this song is about praising Allah and the Prophet.......The author of the video should have renamed it.

Every week I tried to create this ethereal soundscape and the mystical voice and music of Baaba Maal's "Call to Prayer" was perfect for it. So, again, thank you for the share.
