I really respect the work you guys are doing. It takes so much more skill to create something from nothing than it does to just go out and buy it. I am not knocking people that just write a check and get a finished car, but to take the time and do it yourself is, in my opinion, much more fufilling.
Man...I have the utmost respect for you guys. This is like watching a car be born out of thin air. I'm currently molding in a full body kit on my car. It's the first time I have ever tried fiberglass or bondo, or any bodywork for that matter. I'm learning real fast that it's an art, not just something you pick up out of a book. I've been taught some hard lessons, but it's been a blast and it's almost done. So is yours finished yet? Where's the final videos? I can't find them.
@jtalton626 No the Blade is not finished yet, you can watch the other 55 Videos to see the progress. I have a complete list in the description to all video in order. Thanks for the comment.
I did almost the same thing. I took a Opel Kadet Coupe. This was a 1000-er. I stripped it completely. I put out the wheel scurts with a Fraser. Put on some really big wheels. An put the foam. Then you can make anything you like. My problem was the inside. That I changed also. So now the problem is it is still not finished because it must be all wired again. And that is not my profession. So it is there now for a couple of years. The outside is beautiful but still not driving. If somebody can he
I am planning on doing something like this, watching your work inspires this dream, and indeed, I would be skipping breakfast lunch and dinner too while working on it, this stuff is just too awesome to have time to think on something else :).
I've seen this video before and now I'm ready to do something like this on my own but... I went to get some materials for the job and they told me that the foam I'll be using which is the same rigid foam I'm assuming you used, will melt if I apply the apoxy to it. A little on how you applied the Fiber glass of carbon fiber and avoided this issue please. Thanks.
@thefonzmeister Yep thats true... in one of my other videos you see me covering the car in a silver tape. which is actually aluminum ducting tape used for Home AC systems. It works great for covering the foam and will allow you to remove the foam latter if needed. People use this method or they paint the foam with a latex or acrylic paint to seal the foam and protect it from the chemicals.
@YuioDays At this point in the video i had only put in a few thousand. Later in the project the cost goes WAY up when you get to adding the fiberglass.
this looks nice, dude your life would be easier if you draw the foam before you place it on between the wood sections and cut it before placing it, no? im just saying... nice work
@chino0moreno i know, i mean pre cutting the shape on the foam (from the wood part) so you don't have to use the drill that much :D everyone has their ways, im just saying... nice work dude
Yeah the doors are off a different car, they are only used as a mockup door. We explain in the other videos. But basically they are in place for the Glass only. The doors will be custom designed as well.
ohok wen will u be putting up more videos of this car because the last one i saw was wen u put both the lights on and thats it cz i cant find another one that wud be afta it
The doors look very much like first-gen Mazda MX-5 units, as does the glasshouse; and staying with that marque, the headlamps are a good use of the '03-'09 Mazda3
u guys work really payed off on this car
