  • yes the car wasn't working well but you can't blame the car for almost losing it in turn one and basically giving up in the second half of the lap.

  • I think Hamilton was over driving a bit, Heikki did a better job in qualy this weekend.

  • This is when I really began to despise hamilton. How he bitched over the radio, and saying in the race he needs a new car. Really showed how lucky he's been throughout his entire f1 career of having good cars and being towards the front. Really not an exhibition from a champion in this season, nor really since with crashing and being relatively off the pace.

  • @xshx19 So he's competitive? What's to despise of that? He got a great car because he proved himself to McLaren for 10 years, a MASSIVE wait. That wait paid off...

  • @LHTWTC How he acts when he or the car are not competitive. That's what I despise him for.

  • @xshx19 Yeah fair dos. But I guess he learnt from that experience, but like you said he can't expect the car to be perfect. :)

  • It wasn't a fail from Lewis, he was driving that car to the limit, the car just wasn't good enough.

  • @Nickomfacc As a Hamilton fan myself im fully aware of Lewis' capabilities of driving the wheels off any car, but that's what the title for this onboard on the BBC website said.

  • This was really sad to watch, I really hated listening to him during the race in the cockpit and by the sound of his team radio when he was talking to the team, he sounded like he was crying and so frustrated telling them that he is pushing the car as far as it will go, but he couldn't keep up with Renault and his tyres were going away and telling them they need a new car

  • shame they keep having to play catchup

  • I think that the MP4-24 in the beginning part of the season was one of the worst cars of the 2009 season, all respect to McLaren, they have built much, much better cars (the MP4-23 being a prime example) but I think they couldn't cope with all the regulation changes at the start of the 2009 season.

  • @andrew345612 Actually the car was a pretty sound car. The problem was; they missed a fundamental trick that they had to do with the front wing. Up to 2008 the front wing had to push air between the front tyres. In 2009 up to today; it has to push air out. McLaren didn't catch on.

Basically, it was like they had a good car with decent performance; but the team hadn't "switched it on." They made the change in Germany; and Lewis qualified 3rd (I think?) in 2009 Germany immediately.

  • next season he will be a force to reckon with!

  • @nickforthetitle I presume that by force you mean a bulldozer
