@arianasof It was the British who got control of "Palestine" as the victors in WW1 and eventually championed the creation of Israel, which the victors in WW2 enforced. The whole Arab world around it instantly attacked. Israel won - then won again in 1967. I see your point but the creation of that nation was make by it's own conquerers, backed by the victors in the largest war the earth has ever seen. It is still in hot and violent dispute and probably always will be. :-(

@SrslyLeeroy No Washington was NOT an Atheist. However, he was not a Christian either in the traditional sense. He was a Deist which was very common during the Enlightenment. He didn't take Communion because he didn't want to be a hypocrite.

I happen to think that as a Jew (who likely was real and lived as a mortal man) he would have been disgusted over the idea of people worshiping him as a god.

And you are right about some of that, Jesus wouldn't approve of most modern Christianity. A lot of the things he taught have been misunderstood, and a lot of Christians are not living by his teachings.

I do not think that Christian is a loose term in any sense. It means the worship of Jesus. Now, there are other issues at play here. I believe that Jesus was a loyal Jew and he was human. Thus he would be disgusted by the worship of himself as god. However, any Christian would believe that he IS god and thus wouldn't agree with me. To me the Religion of Christianity is pure faith and no evidence. I see no reason to believe anything in the bible but if you believe it more power to you.

Christian means "Little Christ" and they are followers of Jesus.

We do not worship him as God alone, we acknowledge that he is the son of God and that in some sense, they are the same being.

A Deist believes that God would not take an active role in the happenings of man. By asking for guidance, Geo. Washington was asking for divine intervention.

As I stated, based on the evidence, I don't think he was devout, like Adams, but he was definitely a Christian.
